Linda is a charming woman. I knew her briefly when we both lived up in Cortland, NY back around 1980. She was Linda Urbach then, her name from a former husband, and she showed me copies of her record albums still wrapped in the original cellaphane. After leaving the music biz she had joined the Army as a medical technician. We wrote to one another for a while after I moved away. She later taught music at the Christian Academy in upstate New York, maybe still does. A great lady.
We enjoyed talking over coffee, mostly at her house. Her brother Billy and her mother came over frequently. They were very close. Her dad had passed away from cancer a few years earlier. As a teenager I used to watch a teen show called "Where the Action Is." Years after meeting her I recalled that she had been the show's co-host. Funny what a small world it is sometimes.
I just got finished watching the movie, Mulholland Drive, which featured her song, "I've Told Every Little Star." But my favorite, which she, herself, wrote, is "Don't Bet Money Honey." Thanks for the nostalgia!
hi GDR352, I read that you had known Linda back in 1980 in Cortland , New York. Can you tell be what has become of her since. i just love and admire this rare talent. A great and powerful singer of her era. A very beautiful girl. thank you, michaelm5908
The fact that she made these songs from the 30's popular again in the 60's atests to the great song writing of the past. She was, and still is one of my favourites along with Connie Francis, Lesley Gore and so many others from my childhood.
she is amazing. every little star is just perfect and i recorded it on a cassette tape in the 80's in between rites of spring songs. and i mean the 80's emocore band that led to fugazi.
Yes you're right patch it up was not a hit, but in the album "shinding" (KAPP-KL-1431) it appear in a colection of various great hits along with ruby & the romantics, shirley ellis, johnny cymbal etc. A recognition of the great quality of the song.
Quick, while Dick Clark is still alive, send requests for reissues of Linda Scott's Where the Action Is episodes. According to IMDB there were 6. Did she also sing on some others?
GREAT,GREAT,GREAT!!! Adore the songs of Linda Scott, and vividly remember swooning over her as a lad watching WHERE THE ACTION IS. Linda did an excellent version of The Ronettes "You Baby" for the Kapp label in 1965.
Would love to see the episodes of WHERE THE ACTION IS again.Full episodes, not just "Best Of" compilations. If any were saved, they are probably collecting dust in Dick Clark's vault. A darn shame.
It was nice to hear a recording i had never heard before "i wonder" its very good , i had never heard of it before either, not listed in wikepedia or on compilation albums."patch it up" was very commercial and should have been a hit , even in 2008 , and she sounds great. Thanks
linda's 1961 chart topper " dont bet money honey " is still my favorite one of hers. great scott!

Linda Scott has a great sound and these records of her are real real nice. They always get plenty of plays on the campus malt shop jukebox.

Actually, GSilverWorld, "Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed?" was in fact written by Bacharach and David.

Linda was just great. She gets so little recognition but was a real teen idol for a short time.

Love this song and this sound! Linda and co. were able to transpose these 1930's songs and make them sound like they were written in the 1960's.
