How you get that magic weapon thing? i'm a knight too but I've never seen that. I'm up to this boss fight too but I've still got same armour, sword up to +6 and I got a flame resistant shield.
@numbertwelvefan93 You have to buy it from the npc at nexus. To get a better version of the spell you have to kill penetrator at 1-3 and give his soul to sage freke, who you're supposed to save on 3-1. To use spells equip a catalyst. And I suggest you kill yurt the silent chief to get his armor and stop him before he shows his true face and kills the npcs in the nexus, If you haven't already
Yeah idk this boss was really easy for me too. I used the sword of searching which isn't really known for its melee abilities but I am going with an attack heavy build so that helped. I was able to withstand most of its attacks too and had the first one dead before even having to deal with the second one. In my opinion the freaking flamelurker was much tougher. Took me like 15 tries.
Oh - My - GOD! I can not believe i killed Maneater on my first try ever, just 5 minutes ago. I got lucky once by not falling off by an inch. But other than that, it wasn't hard at all! I used the Enchant Weapon spell for that little extra power. Further more i remained patient, that's key if you ask me... Man, i was freakin' scared facing these guys because of the stories i read, my heart was pumpin' like a mad man! My SL was 48 when i faced Maneater. Cheers everybody, this made my day!
FInaly! . here are my tips, shoot and kill the first bastard behind the fog entrance, stand to the right kiss the wall and shoot. (100 arrows at least) . enter, you will need a good shield i used a purple flame shield and a Dragon longsword +5 . DONT ROLL OR EVEN SPRINT AROUND, you WILL FALL, stick to strafing with the shield up and down to recover endurance. . Use Warding id you have it. .
I think I... power-leveled a bit too much, that this boss became too easy.
My +5 Crushing Claymore made short work of the first one (before the 2nd appeared), so much that I Evacuated back to the Nexus and had fun trying them again with my sword and spear.
Then I decided to go overkill and finished them for good with my Dragon Bone Smasher + Curse.
I buttfucked the shit out those ManEater demons. I had Schimitar +8, Compound Short Bow +1, Dark Heater Shield +2, and Wooden Catalyst. I fucked em up wit that Fireball Spell followed by a combination of Physical and Ranged attacks.
im sl 79 and i CAN beat him, its just that because im so sued to rolling every single boss hit, i end up rolling off the god damn platform, lost 50k souls......

@Switzer2007 I was Solidier 30 lvl I guess, when I fought Flamelurker. When I fought Maneater I was on 50, so maybe that is why they were easier for me
you must have some bad ass armor to be able to take hits like that. I use a female wanderer and it only takes three hits for the maneater to kill me.
Maneater doesn't like fire, but he doesn't allow you time to regenerate health. He sits on top of you, after knocking you down, and hits you again before you have a chance to do anything. Bastards.
These two guys barely attacked you, the 50 times I tried to kill these motherf***ers they did nothing but attack me. I used cloak, a thiefs ring, spears, Sword of searching, magic, miracles, warding, lava bow...I did everything to get this boss to be an easier fight for me but all they did was relentlessly attack me. I want to know what you did to keep them from attacking you. You should see the rest of us take these two guys on, they did a lot more than just fly around and stand next to fog.
@Diezel2oo8 I'd think dragon sword (it can still be enchanted, right?) cause maneater takes more damage from magic and even more from fire.
I tried meat cleaver enchanted it was pretty good but hella risky and I failed just before I killed him. Might be worth digging but it's a bit random approach, if you're lucky you kill the bastard in like 5-6 hits, but you likely won't lol...

I used a bow and took advantage of a glitch that allowed me to shoot through the boss door before entering. Killed the first one then used my bow to kill the second after entering the battle. Wasn't too bad but this fight certainly is a bitch when there are too at once and the lock on camera goes CRAZY when you roll to the left or right while it is charging at you.
I acquired the blueblood sword with minimal stats required, hyped it up with light weapon... Went in and cut those fuckers down in 20 seconds each. :D
I intentionally saved 3-2 and 3-3 for last so that I wouldn't have to go through all the mental torture all the other commenters here went through.
mmm.. reading the description, if the shield is pretty much useless in this fight im bringing the adjudicator shield, even though its on my back it will heal me =D should be pretty helpful
This boss fight was so annoying, If your getting frustrated just quite the game as soon as you begin to fall off and restart to get to a recent checkpoint. I know it's cheap but it saves you from getting mad from spending ages to get there only to get knocked off due to a tiny mistake.
My buddy and I always get pushed off when the last Maneater's health is like five hits to kill. I hate the bridge design; it cost me my ability to move on in the game.

Ahh just finished first try. every maneater was dead by 6 fireballs and i had second chance casted......still one of the hardest bosses and im glad i didnt had to melee them....
noob tip for those filthy noobs who can't fight both at the same time
BEFORE entering the gray fog, get as close as you can and you can start firing arrows at the first maneater (not fire arrows or lava bow, they knock him away), the arrows will go straight through the fog and hit him. when you've dealt with him (at least 150 arrows+, depending on bow, i recommend sticky compound long bow +5), enter the fog and deal with the second one alone, much easier
@Kogelvis from the spear red-eyed knights that you can get from running back a little after you go to the 1-4 archstone lol. that's where i got mine anyway. you can get around usually 9 each time you kill them, and with a big shield it's easy because i just guard against their attack and kill them in 1 or 2 hits o 3 o or with magic or arrows, attack them from behind. I guess it depends on what you are, but i used melee. oh, plus you get 6,000 souls so i guess you could farm that way too
I must get this firestorm thing everyone's talking about, I hate these guys with a passion! All the other bosses so far I've defeated no problem, but these guys, it's been like a million times! And then that stupid squid demon on the stairs. -.-
@zAlyse1337 they are tough! i'm on my second play through and i still have had more problems with the maneaters than any other boss. i have the same strategy as re4freak but i've got less than half the health(doing it in soul form). it's a real struggle.
I honestly don't know what you guys are talking about... this guy wasn't hard at all... he pushed me pretty far... but i never felt in true danger of being knocked off... suprisingly you actually can shoot through the fog... i wasted like 150 arrows shooting through the portal and it put his health down by like 8 percent... Lava bow with heavy arrows... These guy aren't comparable to flamelurker...
BS!! The friggin twin maneaters were glitching on the fog walls and pillars. This isn't a real walkthrough video, it's luck! But thanks for the tip on using the center torch as a protection barrier.
I consider this battle to to be only time Demon's Souls crosses the line between challenging and blatantly cheap. I am, of course, referring to all the fall kills that can happen here. In many cases, they can happen when you're already down and can't do anything to avoid being knocked over the edge.
i died to this guy with 20,000 souls. i went back and thought "I can use shard of archstone to come back with all my hard earned souls!" then the octopus got me... fml. lmao

This is probably most dreaded boss fight in the whole game, yet at the same time it's also most exciting and fun; especially with blue knights helping.
what i did was kill the first the first maneater outside the fog with 70 arrows (compound long bow), then deal the second maneater with firestorm. 2 hits and his dead. i was freaking annoyed when he managed to knock me off 3 times off the bridge after i cast firestorm. i just wanted to finish them off very quickly without so much risk like dealing them both in melee.
Easy boss really, kill the first Maneater through the fog with a bow. (Do NOT use Lava Bow, it will push him back.)
Run in, run to the center circle, stand your ground. Dodge/roll, throw your spells. (If you're a spellcaster, or use Light Weapon/Curse Weapon/Enhance Weapon for added damage.
I've never gotten killed in this fight, even when I ran in and just Fire Toss'd him to death, two times.
this boss battle is also a bit about luck so u dont get knocked off the edge and getting only one maneater on the ground at one time cuz u cant fight 2 maneaters, not even kratos can
Just run to the circle in the center, that way you won't get knocked off, unless you're very unfortunate to stand in a wrong place, or fail to dodge/roll.
@zachery429 ya I got knocked off when they were almost dead and I had 2 fucking phantoms helping me, I was pissed. The I went in there by myself one try and just kicked their asses. The flayer was a bastard on the way to the boss too, that thing killed me more times then the Maneater did lol
SL 70 Knight i just shot the first one from the fog (cheap, but effective) and then killed the other one like this. his attacks didn't really do much damage at all, but i almost got knocked off a couple times. makes the fight soooo much easier :)
my tendency on this world has gone to complete shit thanks to the pitfalls in the first level and now these bastards lol, hardest boss ive come across by a mile!

@Kogelvis from the spear red-eyed knights that you can get from running back a little after you go to the 1-4 archstone lol. that's where i got mine anyway. you can get around usually 9 each time you kill them, and with a big shield it's easy because i just guard against their attack and kill them in 1 or 2 hits o 3 o or with magic or arrows, attack them from behind. I guess it depends on what you are, but i used melee. oh, plus you get 6,000 souls so i guess you could farm that way too

I will say this, if you have Garl Vinland's shield, definitely use it here instead of two handing it. It protects against both his magic attacks.

@zAlyse1337 they are tough! i'm on my second play through and i still have had more problems with the maneaters than any other boss. i have the same strategy as re4freak but i've got less than half the health(doing it in soul form). it's a real struggle.

I honestly don't know what you guys are talking about... this guy wasn't hard at all... he pushed me pretty far... but i never felt in true danger of being knocked off... suprisingly you actually can shoot through the fog... i wasted like 150 arrows shooting through the portal and it put his health down by like 8 percent... Lava bow with heavy arrows... These guy aren't comparable to flamelurker...

BS!! The friggin twin maneaters were glitching on the fog walls and pillars. This isn't a real walkthrough video, it's luck! But thanks for the tip on using the center torch as a protection barrier.

I consider this battle to to be only time Demon's Souls crosses the line between challenging and blatantly cheap. I am, of course, referring to all the fall kills that can happen here. In many cases, they can happen when you're already down and can't do anything to avoid being knocked over the edge.

I think Demon Souls should have checkpoints before bosses, they could make the bosses even harder to balance it then.

what i did was kill the first the first maneater outside the fog with 70 arrows (compound long bow), then deal the second maneater with firestorm. 2 hits and his dead. i was freaking annoyed when he managed to knock me off 3 times off the bridge after i cast firestorm. i just wanted to finish them off very quickly without so much risk like dealing them both in melee.

Easy boss really, kill the first Maneater through the fog with a bow. (Do NOT use Lava Bow, it will push him back.)
Run in, run to the center circle, stand your ground. Dodge/roll, throw your spells. (If you're a spellcaster, or use Light Weapon/Curse Weapon/Enhance Weapon for added damage.
I've never gotten killed in this fight, even when I ran in and just Fire Toss'd him to death, two times.

this boss battle is also a bit about luck so u dont get knocked off the edge and getting only one maneater on the ground at one time cuz u cant fight 2 maneaters, not even kratos can

Just run to the circle in the center, that way you won't get knocked off, unless you're very unfortunate to stand in a wrong place, or fail to dodge/roll.

SL 70 Knight i just shot the first one from the fog (cheap, but effective) and then killed the other one like this. his attacks didn't really do much damage at all, but i almost got knocked off a couple times. makes the fight soooo much easier :)
