  • If you have a q9650 why do you need to upgrade it has 4 cores too

this is far enough for the new games on max settings or 70-75 fps isn't enough or what? I played this game on medium-high configuration and I was happy if I got 30 fps

  • I have q9450@3.2ghz GTX 460 1GB and 4GB DDR2.

I will wait for sandy bridge equivalent of i5 2500k and nvidia gtx 560-570.

  • @SuperThe86 is that a joke ? i5 2500k is sandy bridge

  • @chilldog1234567890 sorry

Ivy Bridge equivalent of i5 2500k

  • Just orderer my i5 2500K today. Gonna replace 2.5year old Q9650@3.4ghz which was struggling with GTX570..

  • i dont understand, q9650 or 2500k better?

  • Q9650 IS better!!

  • @FFF693 how? 0.o

  • @FFF693, Really?

  • @FFF693 Are you stupid?, are you not seeing the FPS, the Q9650 is about 70 FPS lower then the 2500k?

  • Q9550, wanting to get into live streaming more... yeah I want a 2600k :P

But I think ill wait for the next gens and maybe get one of them 6core socket 2011 cpu's from Intel (yes its gonna break the bank)

  • and i'm happy with a core 2 duo e7300@3.05GHz +GTS 450 =)

  • The memory subsystem is slow. However if you bring fsb to 500 and DRAM to 1200mhz the Q9x50 is still blazing fast in todays games.

  • Oh Hi, I am very important internet person and I have a couple comments.

I see your hax running in the background.

One is clearly at 640 resolution, the slow one.

Where are the hotchix in this music video?

Big TL is better than small tL

My Q9550 at 3.6 has 8GB of RAM and that totall kicks 2500k's tail

  • @azsyndicate ...

    just die.

  • @azsyndicate your quad core doesn't even come close to the 2500K's performance or memory bandwidth. sorry buddy.

  • @azsyndicate hogwash, i have a q9650 @ 4ghz and 8 gigs @ circa 1100 5-5-5-15

though it does hold its fucking own, it does not bench as high as a 2500k.

  • Also because the 2500k was overclocked higher.

  • yeah not upgrading my Q9400 till at least BF3 comes out.

  • Could you please test on a modern emulator like pcsx2 or dolphin?

I would love to see the difference!

  • lol the 1st monitor (Q9650) is something like 1080p and the 2nd monitor (2500k) is a CRT 1024x768 LOL!!! Nice try noob...

  • @billthekid1982 If you look at the description... both setups running at 1600x1200 resolution ;)

  • @billthekid1982 they are both 1600x1200, fucktard.

  • on me it shows just 30 :/

  • @MutaFukinBadAss Dual CPU, wait for LGA2011.

  • @MutaFukinBadAss same man i got a 2500k fixed everything

  • Great video.

I was thinking of buying a GTX 560, it should be able to get more frames hopefully since it's more powerful than the 5870 from the benches ive seen :D

  • Videos like this show how an upgrade in cpu sockets (+motherboard, ram and cooler) you are far better off doing than constantly upgrading graphics cards to get the most out of your games. This is socket 775 45nm vs socket 1155 32nm. Also consider if your current psu would support the newer socket. Far better off spending £250 on new cpu ram and board than on a soon to be outdated graphics card. I am sticking with my 775 set up still for now though because of £s I dont have...

  • great video!

for the first time in 5 years i'm going to consider a cpu change

  • I've got major performance issues with my phenom II 940. It feels like my cpu is bottlenecking the system (4GB RAM, 560ti). But I guess it's some stupid driver issue because Black Ops runs with 60fps and beyond on Win XP and 40fps and less on Win 7. I thought about waiting for Bulldozer but 2500K is just too tempting. I'm getting one at the end of the week together with 8GB RAM and an ASUS P8Z68-V :D I can hardly wait

    Great Video, dude!

  • Btw Nice video :)

  • i have at max settings for about 60 - 70 sometimes a peak when i look at the ground or something you know ;) Specs are on my channel. Please tell me if thats a good rate of fps thanks :)

  • ok, this is not an accurate comparison. Do the two have the same parts, speeds, bus, cooling, case, manufacturers? Not so controlled if you ask me.

  • You're introducing a CPU limitation to inflate the results. A better comparison would be with them both at either the same clock speeds (4GHz vs 4GHz) or average overclocks (4GHz vs. 4.5GHz) and using a resolution of 1920x1080 or higher with 4x AA, 16xAF and HBAO on. Memory speed should be the same as well.

  • bollox

  • Q9650 AWESOME CPU ;) 12MB Cache!!

  • @FFF693 45 nm :(

  • i have an ASUS P5B S-775, so i go with an Q9650 :) 12MB Cache :O

  • Also dude, it would be good to see the difference between fps when actuall fighting is happening on the screen.

    Helpful video anyway.

  • for comparison its better to clock the CPU's at the same speed, say 4.2. Also what kind of ramspeed is the Q9650 using 445x9 1:1 = 890Mhz or 6:5=1068Mhz . This would matter against the DDR3 with the 2500k.

Not totally fair now, still the difference isnt even that big ~115 vs ~90

  • good video shiznilti.

sick of trolls saying this is BS.

  • great video helps me justify upgrading from amd to intel.

going from a amd phenom 940 at 3,6ghz to the following pc parts.

    i5 2500k (will oc to around 4.5 - 4.8ghz)

    noctua NH D14 cpu cooler

    gigabyte P67A UD4 B3 mobo

    8gb G-skill ram 1600mhz

    GTX 570

    Corsair 850w modular psu

still waiting for the 2500k to de delivered then i can finally build this rig

  • Good job Shiz. Yeah those new Intel 2500k and 2600k are just freaking amazing.

  • I gotta get one of these, my athlon cant handle shit :D

  • awesome vid man

we want more of that pls

  • i knew my q9550 wasnt good enough, i drop to 40 fps in explosions and gpu drops like a shit to like 40% (gtx 580)

  • Great video.

  • nice video!! love it

  • Thanks man, very helpful+

  • This is good info. I'm upgrading from a Q6600 @ 3.4 w/ 2x 5770s to a 2500K when my motherboard gets back from RMA. Bought a MSI P67 GD65... "oops."
