Kay with all her young stable boys. She was a sick control freak back then-the relationship between Kay & Phillip was really based on domestic violence reversed. Kay could've reformed herself years prior to Jill's entrance into her life but she did not. Phillip was an upstanding man & I think he &  jill tried to help Kay. Sometimes love happens in the unlikiest of circumstances

Katharinwe thought she was "helping" Jill? Oh  please! Kay was a spiteful,jealous & bitter bitch back then. She tried to use an innocent child by bribing its mother. Didn't Kay also deny Phillip his true birthright for years? also jill & Phillip hadf a beautiful love story/ He 7 Kay were in a lovel;ess union & it was kay who was the promiscuous one

It's a real tragedy about Brenda Dickson. She was such a lovely, fresh and vibrant young woman who America took to their hearts as the pure spirited Jill Foster. Then after the godforsaken choice to turn her into an Alexis Carrington for daytime, Brenda was cast into the arena of the unwell, and has resurfaced as a deranged and opulent lady... a far cry from the days when she was truly young & restless.....

I dont know...I really think that it was appropriate for BD to play Jill as over the top later on...when she was first on Y&R Jill was young an innocent...by her second go round, JIll was hardened, money hungry, and angry because she lost Phillip...and BD played every facet of that...

Bill Bell was such a fantastic soap creator/writer. The Kay/Jill rivalry was/is one the best, if not the best, character driven storylines in soap history. The various dimensions and layers which Bell incorporated into the the Kay/Jill relationship was pure genius. Too bad the past few regimes have completely destroyed the show's rich history and Bell's vision for the characters.

Episodes like these were "must see tv"! You could not miss an episode because of Bill Bell's outsanding writing and the great actors on the show. These two forces together is what made Y&R the king of the hill.

The more I think about this ENTIRE Jill/Kay/Phillip storyline, the MORE I realize how RIGHT Jill always was (and she DID always love her son)...and how EVIL and CONNIVING Kay has ALWAYS been!

Jill actually took the money not thinking she could raise her son, he got sick and the nurse put him in her arms and she couldn't do it. Kay swore revenge then Brock convinced her to help Jill, she was set to make Jill's life easier and look after her and her family then Jill sued Phillip's estate on behalf of her son, not realising what Kay had planned, and the war was back on and she lost.

SOMETIMES I FORGET.....

how beautiful katherine was in the past and the great acting ability of JEANNE COOPER. Her acting was so "fluid".....and these scenes were really involved and she really knew how to nail each line - like it was the most natural thing in the world. JEANNE COOPER is still beautiful today in 2010 - but just like all of us, shes older and her Y&R scenes are limited and I just don't enjoy the Y&R soap anymore. God, I loved this years ago..........

@billyralphweeden Those first 10 years were the best. I loved Katherine and Jill, and anything that centered around Katherine was must see TV. I loved the Brooks sisters, too, especially Lori. It was and will always be the best time for this show.

The Young and the Restless had a more developed and realistic storyline in the 70s and 80s. The quality started to decline in the late 90s, and today, the story is unrealistic and filled with so many of these new actors.

It's amazing to me how understated (and good) BD's performances were in her first stint on Y&R and how over-the-top and clownish BD became in her second stint.

It's hard to believe it's the same actress.

I loved Jill back in the 70's and 80's but she got too flashy and then they replaced Brenda Dickson again, which was a huge mistake. I only hope one day she will return while Katherine is alive.. What a great match that would be!
