Government warning (1) According to the sergion general woman should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy as it may cause birth defects. (2) Consumption of alcoholic beverages impairs your ability to drive a car, operate dangerous machinery, and may cause health problems.
could you tell me where I could find that picture of the alcohol being poured in the bottle? It is so perfect and I would love to use it in my fetal alcohol presentation.
could you tell me where I could find that picture of the alcohol being poured in the bottle? It is so perfect and I would love to use it in my fetal alcohol presentation.
My cousin is had a child with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome just because she was jealous of her cousin how had a baby just a few week earlier. She was getting al the attention so se wanted to have her own baby. On tope of that, she drinks like a fish hammered by noon. So is was no surprise when her child Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
Kudos to you for making this video. It is beautifully expressed and points out the facts correctly. FAS is real and is for the life of child, the child's family, and will trickle down to their children one day. When our cells are affected, they are passed down for many generations to come.
There is soooo much to understand...so, please educate yourself. This is a life long journey. You and your child deserve the best possible chance at life.
I too grew up in a alcoholic home. Have you ever seen the movie, "The Exorcism Of Emily Rose" Look there first. They make a good point about the Spiritual (not just the psychological or physical aspect of a person) It could be in a chosen name. Then look at the prayer "Healing The Family Tree" It says;
"Many of my problems have been caused by my own failures, neglect, and sinfulness... Step Four: Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
i have fetal alcohol syndrome. not to bad but still... i am 17 and a heavy metal musician and for years i tryed playing guitar and just no matter how hard i played i couldnt get it. so i started playing drums. i like to play. i just dont think anybody should have to live with this... i have internal problems, metal problems and constant back problems that ruin sleep. i its only very recently i have admited this problem or even talked about it.
thank you for sharing something like this is very hard. Very interesting that you have been able to find something that you enjoy doing. I cannot play an instrument for the life of me, but i admire those who can. Especially drums. :) it is not going to be an easy road, but its nice that you have found something you enjoy.
I taught a student recently with FAS and I felt so angry every time I looked at her. Not angry AT her, but angry FOR her, because her life had been compromised before she was even born. To make matters worse, her mother still had a drinking issue and this kid's homelife was crap!! I hope the kid will be OK in the end, but it's going to be an uphil battle.
a child can get fas too if the dad drinks alcohol and if its in his sperm and he and a woman have intercourse and she concieves. I'm not sure how strong of effect it has.
It's true it says so in the book "loosening the grip" it's not a bad fas but of course if the guy is an alcholic it may be worse and if U THINK ABOUT IT MAKES SENSE
not sure if you researched it at all in the last while, but a child can only get FAS from the mother, but the father is able to give the child some form of disabilities if he drinks but just not FAS
That's true. FAS is such a sad disease my ex bf has it. =( The thing that makes me the most mad about it though is it's 100% preventable!! If you can't quit drinking have an abortion or don't get pregnant in the first place it is such a selfish disease to give to someone.
i thought it did.. the video takes almost a disapointed or 'this could have be prevented' tone to me and i think the music is slightly mournful but also as if the person was disapointed with the outcome and how easily it could be prevented.
setting up euthanasia programs is like giving people permission to destroy other peoples lives out of ignorance. hey, why not just hand out the alcohol for free while you're at it...
Good for you Katy12Beth for being such a good person and trying to be nice to people that are mean out of ignorance.
I work with people that have developmental disabilities, some from FAS and I still like to learn about it, always new discoveries!
I'm so sorry that people bully you because of something you have no control over. Remember that you are a better person than them and try to ignore their ignorance. There are decent people out there who will terat you with the kindness and respect you deserve. Good luck
I have this syndrome-and I am trying my very best-and I was put up for adoption and I am a native teenager and I have some problems. My adoptive parents try their very best to deal with my problems and I always have this fanansty world in my mind and I can't stop thinking about my biological family and alots of people in my school are mean to me because of my Alcohol Syndrome........and I always try to tell them that I can't help it. But they don't ever listen-they just continue to bully me.
But I do have a few friends who are nice to me sometimes-but I have two best friends who always try to help me also with my problems and they both understand about my Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and those people who bully me they don't understand why I have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. I am nice to them as best as I could. But I always try my very best.
Katy, it is nice to see you try your best, everyday might be a struggle. I work with a boy who has FAS, and somedays can be such a struggle for him and for me, but i know he is not mad at me but at the whole situation. he tries to explain it to me, but he has so many thoughts that he cant control. He is a great kid, and i bet you are too. Everyone has their ups and downs, and i thank you for being so open on here. you seem like a kind person, and i believe you can teach many people. Stay strong!
I have two children, adopted, who struggle with this daily. My son has the worst struggle, and has sever anger and impulse control issues. My daughter has a milder form. PLEASE get this message out, My children look normal, actually they are beautiful. But each day is a struggle. The dammage that alcohol and drugs do are horrible. They may look normal, but they are not. Thank you
Unfortunately not always. The physical manifestations could be obvious, or invisible. Sometimes there are only behavioural or cognitive signs of this disease.
I have worked on 4 reservations where FASD is devastating the people. Please help me stop the Coors Beer ad where they make fun of a pregnancy. See my video.
FAS is just terrible. No human being should ever have to live through such a cruel horrible disability. Any women who has second thoughts about drinking in pregnancy should be publicly executed... thats just wrong man...

Step Five: Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs (Reconciliation).
The West always seems to try and lay blame on the other person, and take no responsibility for one's personal choose.
Have you ever read the book called "A Child Called It"
As Mother Teresa said; the greatest poverty in The West, is the lose of "LOVE"
(not an exact quote)

in the mean time we should at least set up euthanasia programs terminate births that are too severely affected by FAS.
