I dimly recall reading about how long ago some ancient people discovered another use for gold which was to be a fountain of youth, an extender of life by hundreds of years. This is related to alchemy. The gold had to be transformed into a light coloured powder with other things to create this elixir. The person drank it. See if you can find more on this about gold.
