  • @overdozed1337 The good thing about PC is that it's independent, so you don't need to kiss lots of corporate ass in order to get a license to sell it on consoles. I think it should stay on PC

  • @Zoran54321 What i also love is that they are making this game for Linux and Mac too, not only Windows. I've always wanted to test Linux out (for a longer period of time), but i'm a gamer so i've been pinned to Windows y'know.

  • @CoreDumped2082 The tech used is their own made Phoenix engine. It uses OpenAL and OpenGL, with Bullet as the physics engine.

    That game is good, but kinda expensive for indie game, so i think that'll be a good option.

    They can't make an option if they haven't put in the time to implement the feature. It's not just a switch, there's a lotta work that goes into that shit. Personally, I hope they do it. But not in the conventional Gears of war fashion. I want to see a more "classy" dismemberment. Something more complex than "bone shrinks to 0 and limb object spawns"

  • After Overgrowth is released in all its shear awesomeness and and enjoyed by many and such, I do hope they'll develop other genres of games using the engine (or later versions of it), or at least let others do so.

  • @JustAnotherGaian The entire engine is open source. I don't know how they would handle full on payment games, they might set up some licensing deal down the road.

  • @MrPatriot3312 This game is a lot more ambitious than other indie games, in my humble opinion a games' cost should reflect it's quality and in this case, especially since it's an unfinished game, I find this game more than worth 30 bucks, especially considering big game studious like Bethesda and ID putting a 40-60 bucks on their games.

  • I like how key words such as "placeholder" are not missed by the Overgrowth community. I've seen many WIP projects that get people saying stuff like "i hate that screen" or whatever even though it's clear that it's a placeholder.

  • It's nice to see the progression of one individual feature. I remember when you were saying that one day you would make the blood per texel rather than per poly, and now we are here!

    They don't because of memory footprint, things like this take up memory and with consoles having so little of that and most PC games being developed on all platforms, you can kind of understand why things are the way they are ...FOR NOW.

  • For those asking about dismemberment; keep in mind how difficult this would be to achieve. He would have to separately differentiate how the limbs would be dismembered based on where the body was hit, and he would have to attempt to make the dismemberment act identical based on actual bones. The amount of time to efficiently do that would be absolutely massive. Give him time. He may do it, but don't expect it soon.

  • @GOOB3000 I know this, and he is absolutely an amazing person for what he's done so far. But dismemberment would be difficult for anyone, no matter how amazing they were. Getting things to break, bleed, and look the right way when hit at a certain angle would be damn hard.

    It's not really that hard to achieve basic limb dismembering. Character just needs hitboxes to determine which body part was hit and scale that limb and its children down to invisible, then unhide splattered end and create physics object for the cut part. If weighted vertices are supported by the engine, which they are in this one.

    Making advanced dismembering according to slice angle and placement is whole different deal though, and has only been done in MGS: Rising

  • @RealationGames Considering the progress and situation of the game, that's more what I was considering (the advanced version, of course), since if it were to be too simple it would throw some of the things off and how they look, especially in slow motion where detail is crucial.

    I wouldn't count that it will be done, it's a highly advanced technique that hasn't really been used anywhere real time, as I said, only in MGS Rising (watch?v=FMdu_dUzjfE). Although maybe, as David does a lot of incredible stuff that has never been done before.

  • Ok so instead of making the blodd more optimized you make it more detailed wtf i get leik 75+fps just fighting btu as son as 3 ai bleed i get 5fps it needs to be seriously fixed not add more detail

  • @oziwhite my pc isnt slwo it runs crysis and stuff just fine with win7 but im sure this guy is making the game with a high end quad core or somethign its when alot of ai bleed or there is alot of ragdolls just needs to be optimized

  • @BassPounderX ah mine can as well with 7, i remember him saying somewhere that he will optimize it more soon, maybe when its fully released, so quite a while then. i did get quite a lot of lag when i had 4 people bleeding at the same time but thats probably normal...

    Config will be in a text document. Open it, and where it says "Fullscreen: false", change it to "Fullscreen: true".
