1. The judge did not actually suspend their sentences because they weren't used to drinking, or in any way because they were Muslim. That was the Sun & co spin. It was a stupid thing their lawyer said. He actually suspended them because he thought they might have felt overpowered by her boyfriend.

If you feel guilty about something you've done, then, you're a sinner. Today we no longer refer to sin, but speak instead of 'crime' or 'guilt' or 'remorse' or just simply just 'bad'. Sin was a badly chosen word on my part, I should have used the words 'guilt' or 'wrong doing' instead.
