  • thank you so much!!! i finally understand this!! thank you!!

  • Amazing!

  • Someone else may have already said this, but you forget to say to slip the first stitch every time you start a row -- including the purled rows. I noticed you do it sometimes without saying to do it.

  • I tried this stitch and it looked right, but there were big holes between the raspberries... How do I knit this and not get the holes?

  • @asdfg6446

were you using large needles and thin yarn? there should not be holes. hope you tried it again and worked it out.

  • I'm going to knit a blanket for my pregnant friend's baby. I was wondering if I would be able to do these as decorative pieces around the blanket? I want it to be a continuous line of rasberries around the perimeter of the blanket. How would I be able to do this? Loved the video though :) x

  • @DeasDipni

did you knit that blanket with the decorative piece around it? I'd be interested to know how it came out. sounds lovely.

  • Thank you so much Judy! I can't wait to try this stitch!!

  • @qhloverr

well, did you try it? hope you are having fun knitting. please like me on facebook.

  • I can't thank you enough for these tutorials, Judy! It is so hard to find a well instructed video on knitting. I'm quite the knitting novice, I've only started a few months ago and I never learned any new patterns, until now! I look forward to more tutorials from you! :)

  • @TheLonerFernclaw

thanks for your nice note a while back. I hope you'll continue to watch and learn. Please look for me on facebook too.

  • you know how to teach =) thanks for the tutorial.. i look for so many tutorials and i couldnt understand how they were teaching, but you explained very well

  • well that wasn't hard at all /wiping sweat of her forehead and coughing blood...

  • @PolarTulip

ha ha. glad you got it and hope you're enjoying it.

  • slow down!!!!!!!!

  • @YourOutlet

sorry if it seemed too fast. I hope you watched it again and were able to get it.

  • Thanks Judy!!

  • @IzAwetastic

have fun knitting. please like me on my facebook page.

  • I can't wait to try this stich!! It looks so pretty!!

  • @qhloverr

    did you try it yet?

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy Yes I did :) It was a bit tricky to get the needle in for the purl three together, I actually had a harder time doing that than when you make three stitches :)

  • Thanks. This video is very clear. I was using some 'chunky' yarn and using 12mm needle. 18 stitches, making a scarf. I particularly like that you showed all 4 rows completely without skipping the easy purl rows, and you showed row 2 & 4 complete from beginning to end = basically, I managed to knit alongside your video as we are doing the same number of stitches :D

  • @lionsze

glad this worked out for you. please keep watching and like me on facebook for more.

  • slow DOWN!!!!

  • wow this is such a great tutorial :)

  • @ladyhughjass

thank you. glad you like it. please keep watching and look for me on facebook too.

  • @shiroosh23 i think we should try multiples of 3 because mult. of 4 come out wrong.idk i guess we will have to just tinker with it and see what happens.

  • hi Judy :)

does it work with 4 stiches instead of 3, so the rasberry will be bigger?

  • @shiroosh23

did you try it with 4? let me know how it worked.

  • Hi Judy, I just commented on my wrong youtube channel to this video. YT can be confusing. Anyway as I mentioned I LOVE this stitch and am going to play with it with one color and then try adding more colors. Once I get the technique down I'd like to try it with a few colors, doing each one in the row a different color. Should be a fun experiment. Once I learn how to make videos on here, I'll share my experimenting. Thanks so much for sharing this Judy. :-)

  • @rjknittingdude

Hi, did you ever try the stitch with more than one color? If so, how did it work out?

  • WOW, never hrd of this stch bfore Judy and I've been knitting over 40 yrs, lol. Just LOVE this stch & I am a HUGE fan of Intarsia Knitting so once I get the basics of this stch down, I'm going to try doing it with several colors. I think this stch would be just amazing if done with several colors and each one in the row different colors. Yes, a LOT of work, but the end result, LOTS of color - a work of art. Thanks so much for sharing this Judy. Gotta learn to make videos myself ;-)

  • Hi Mrs. Judy, I was just wondering if you had a recommendation for the number of stitches for a scarf? I'm thinking 22, but even with this video 18 seems a bit small, maybe it's my perspective. Thank you. :)

  • @TheHappygoluckygirl

It really depends on the weight of yarn and the size needles you're using. make a swatch and see how it looks.

  • Mrs.Judy in reference to my comment earlier (dimple stitch) whoch I found out to be the bubble stitch would you plz demonstrate this thank u :)

  • Hi Mrs. Judy, would u please demonstrate the dimple stitch thank you :)

  • hi judy you say that the multiples for this st. is 4 sts plus 2 when i complete the third row i have 2 sts left when i see in your video that you should have one.i cast on twice the amount for a scarf but i still have those two sts left.

  • @tinyknitter

have you figured this out yet? sounds like you cast on one too many stitches.

  • @tinyknitter that hapenned to me too!

have you figured it out? I need help :(

  • You go to fast slow down okay if I was teaching someone I would go nice and slow I'm going to look at another better video

  • @2000bre

sorry it was too fast for you. I hope you found help elsewhere.

  • I've sorted it out now :)

  • Everytime I finish the 2nd or 4th row I end up with an extra stitch and I don't know why :( I'm doing everything exactly how you're doing it but I always get that extra stitch :( please help :)

  • Does it look better if you slip the first stitch in every row? I've seen you do that in other videos too!?

  • @FuzzyBieber17

I talk about why I do that and other tips on my videos E-MAIL QUESTIONS. Go to my channel and take a look.

  • Great video! I'm a total noob and this made it simple! But i was wondering if you recommended any type of edge for this, or if you think t would look nice while changing colors throughout the pattern.

  • @watercrystalfairy

experiment to find what you like. seed stitch is always a good edging. have fun with it. look for me on facebook too.

  • i dont undrer stand the "twist" part?

  • @prittygal169

hope you keep watching and do it as I do it.

  • Cast on a multiple of 4 + 2 stitches

    1st and 3rd rows: Purl

    2nd row: K1, *(K1, P1, K1) into the next st, P3tog, repeat from * to last st, k1

    4th row: K1, *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next st, repeat from * to last stitch, k1

Rows 1 - 4 form pattern. Repeat for desired length.

  • I got it thanks Judy!!!! It looks so pretty!

  • @Belove1111

oh, I didn't see this note before I answered your last. glad you got it!

  • I love the look of this stitch, thanks for posting Judy. I would love to see you do this picking instead of throwing.... I get really confused trying to do it, especially with the twists! Thanks, I'm going to keep working on it!

  • @Belove1111

I do it the only way I know how. Hope you've gotten the hang of it now. Please keep watching more videos and look for me on facebook too.

  • its too fast, no matter how many times i watch it, i keep messing up, please do a slower versions... your videos are the best!

  • @rachiexxbabie

hope you have, or will, keep watching, or go to wonderhowto for written instructions. I'm judytopaz there.

  • Could you please make a video on binding off in raspberry stitch! Reading instructions aren't helping :(.

  • *K1,P1,K1 i meant to say...

  • I can't get the k1,p1,p1 down to save my life! I keep getting tangled! :(

  • does it matter what size needle you use?

  • @tinyknitter

you don't want it to be too loose, so don't use too large of a needle.

  • AHHHHHHH ITS SO FAST :( please please please please please please please make a slower version i love your slow versions i dont get other tutorials and im only 15 and love knitting thigs in my spare time :) thank you

  • @TheBrowser222

please keep watching it and you'll get it. also have written instructions on wonderhowto where I'm judytopaz.

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy thanks! :)

  • Thank you so much, I am a beginning knitter and your videos are so helpful and easy to follow. Thanks a bunch :)

  • I'm so glad I found your tips. You are wonderful and a real life saver! Thank you!

  • @Meriadath

thanks so much. please keep watching and look for me on facebook.

  • How do you bind this off?

  • @mimipookie1 Cast on a multiple of 4 stitches plus 2. Row 1: Purl all stitches. Row 2: K1 * K1, P1, K1 into next stitch, P3 tog, repeat from * K last stitch. Row 3: Purl all stitches. Row 4: K1, *P 3 tog,K1, P1, K1 into next stitch, repeat from * K last stitch. These 4 rows make up the pattern sequence.

bind off as usual. you might want to knit a few rows in stockinette or garter, depending what you're making.

  • thank you you are a grate teacher at this. most of the time i get ppl who are ether too fast or stumble alot. i didn't want to ditch my knitting needles this time. im ur fan haha

  • @cutypatuty27

glad my videos are working for you. please keep watching and look for me on facebook and twitter.

  • to fast to fast to fast

  • @jawbreackersprinkles

keep watching, you'll get it eventually.

  • This video was super helpful! Thanks for posting it! I just started knitting a raspberry stitch scarf in red and its turning out so pretty, the only thing is I'm a beginner so I'm awfully slow at knitting the 2nd and 4th rows, but oh well its fun to do it :-)

  • Do I need to use a certain blend of yarn; do some not work for this stitch? Because I'm trying to do this and it's really hard. I can't seem to get 3 stitches on the needle. Thanks :)

  • @nayomi17

most yarns should work. I hope you watched, or will watch, my video again and do it like I do. also there are written instructions on my page at wonderhowto where I am judytopaz.

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy thank you :) I will try again.

  • I started out with 18 and then on my 3rd row I ended up with 27.

  • @kitkatgurl8642

oh dear. you obviously were doing something wrong. I hope you watched, or will watch, the video again and did what I do. There are written directions on my page at wonderhowto where I am judytopaz.

  • i luv it it is so kul!

  • @morgansopwieede00bmb

me too. thanks. please keep watching and look for me on facebook.

  • This video was really helpful :-)

  • @Outdoorgirl121

  • COOLIO

  • @Outdoorgirl121

I AGREE! NEW VIDEO ON TODAY.

  • You are kind of really awesome. I think I finally got the gist of this stitch thanks to this video. I'm still slipping up every once in a while but you know whatever.

  • @Gurewitch

practice makes perfect. keep at it and have fun. please keep watching and look for me on facebook too.

  • My guess is it needs to be a multiple of..18 so the pattern is even.?

  • @lilsweeti13

    you're right!

  • Magnificent videos! Why do you always slip a stitch on the first of every row?

  • @ClaraBeansify

I explain that, and other tips, on my video E-MAIL QUESTIONS ANSWERED. Take a look. Thanks for writing.

  • First, I love your knitting videos, they are the BEST. Next, I was wondering if you would suggest making a hat with this stitch? I think it would be pretty :)

  • @MeLoveLexi

Thanks for your nice comment. Glad you like my videos. I agree that the Raspberry stitch would be pretty on a hat. The only problem would be the decreases, but you could do the stitch till you get to the crown, then knit plain. Let me know if you do it.

  • this stitch is soo cute ^^ I am going to try it soon~ Thanks for the great tutorial :D

  • @happyjaybee

glad you like it. did you try it yet? new video on youtube today.

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy yess I did and love it! it didnt come out as nice as yours though -.-' haha I'll have to practise more =D Thanks Judy x

  • how does slipping the first stitch help?

  • @CheeseGaGa

PLEASE watch my video E-MAIL QUESTIONS answered where I talk about this and give other tips.

  • excellent! thank you so much! kisses from greece <3

  • @pigisi

oh, I love kisses from Greece. I spent a glorious month there a few years back. Where in greece are you? New Video today. Check it out and look for me on facebook too.

  • wait, I'm confused. is it every other row you purl? it's a really pretty pattern, and I'd love to try it out!

  • @EmmieB91

yes, every other row is simply purl all stitches. try it, it's beautiful.

  • this stitch isn't too easy but when your using 2 colours together ooh boy is it hard!

  • You're amazing Judy

  • gosh, thanks!

  • Is this the same as "Trinity Stitch"? I need to practice the p3 .. I think my stitches might be too tight.

  • Holding the yarn in left hand sounds like she is knitting in the Continental style. This way is a much faster way of knitting. I learned the way Judy knits and find it hard to change.

  • why do you grab the yarn with the right hand? my mom grabs it with the left, is it a different way or what? or a different technique???

  • There are many ways of doing the same thing in knitting. Use whatever methods works best for you. Happy knitting!

  • I used this stitch to make my mom a scarf. I used a RedHeart Multi in shades of red. I believe the name of the color was 'Lipstick'. It turned out really nice! I"m giving it to her for Christmas.

  • sounds beautiful. I'm sure she'll love it.

  • how to bind off this stitch..thanks judy

  • I would knit one row plain then bind off as usual.

  • Do you do it the same way on circulars??

  • yes.

  • This was fun :-) Thanks

  • THANK YOU! I found a pattern how to make a popcorn style hat, and I loathe crochet, so this helped me out a ton. :)

  • increase a add stitches like to make a triangle

  • How did your project work out?

  • i couldnt do it ... so i tried another stitch

  • hello question...how do you increase with this stitch?

  • Nice, Judy...

The fruity raspberry is like crochet's veggie popcorn stitch.

    ;D

  • I like this stitch. It is going to take me a little practice to get to perfection.

  • PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

  • wow...i really like this stitch.....Thank you, Judy

  • YES, IT'S GREAT. THANKS

  • thank you for posting this, maybe it's just me but this stitch is complicated and seeing you doing it helps a lot

  • Thank you for posting this =)
