I appreciate your opinion on this book. After reading this book, I also got the bad boy theme. But what concerned me was how Bella came off like a potential victim for abuse. Her "He would never hurt me." attitude. There is a subcurrent of suicide in this story. From the truck crash to the ballet studio.
I really like this video. I'm glad that your daughters have a strong male influence in their life to help counter the silly messages in books and movies like Twilight. You remind me alot of my "poperincini". I like the connection you made between Twilight and Phantom of the Opera- I hadn't put the two together but now that you mention it, I realize that the reason I dont like Phantom is the same reason I dont like Twilight.
Hi! Thanks for the well-made video response! I'm cursious how you feel about your daughters reading the books, given the messages the series promotes about romantic relationships. Does it concern you at all, or do you trust them to overcome these messages?
Hello. Thanks for writing me back. I'm not to happy about the messages in twilight, but I think a good stable family relationship (especially between mom and dad) counters the false impressions. We've had an ongoing battle with Disney in that regard. I could go on for hours on that! We've had talks about it already.
I was very impressed with what you said about a girl's self-image being based on whether a boy likes her or not. That is huge.

I love this view point. I've been wondering what a good father would say about it.

There's more to say and little room.
