  • I miss the old M/V Klickitat.

  • Oh how I love to travel off the island! LOL!

  • I miss that run and that boat. those old steel electrics had a lot of charm

  • Man, it must be really wild out there on the Admiralty Inlet!

  • I miss the old ferry that you all see here, that new one they are using now just ain't built for this run.

  • port townsend people are weirdies!! theyre like a bunch of hippies and crap!

  • I lived there for awhile.............wierd people wicker man people for sure.

  • bah You must not have lived there for long! We aren't all hippies!

  • Yup I have been on this ferry crossing before. It was just like that

  • The other day I took a ferry from Tacoma to Vashon Island. And from Vashon to West Seattle. The water was very calm and we saw a baby orcha.

  • its called an orca.

  • this happened to us to!! 2 times!!

    one from port townsend,

and one from kingston to seattle! (like at 7 in the morning to meet the jonas brtoehrs :o)

  • everyone on whidbey or pt. townsend is krustay

  • ya those ferry rides can be scary

  • Reminds me of the Navy days at sea.

  • OMG! I love the Puget Sound Ferries.

  • Port Townsend reminds of that island in the orignal version movie The Wicker Man. The people are so freaking wierd!!!

  • ? By weird, you mean friendly, smart, creative, earthy, and can think for themselves, I take it...(literate, also).

  • if u mean the people who live on whidbey, andywayne is SO right. Ive lived here and i still cant believe some of the stuff that i see

  • No, he said Port Townsend, not Whidbey Island - they are distinctly different different as one is an island and one is on the Olympic Peninsula (if you have "lived here" you'd know).

Sure there's weird people everywhere, thank gawd.

Not quite The Wicker Man (but if you think so and it keeps you away from here, right on).

  • no Port Townsend is awesome its just whidbey is a bit odd :)

  • Granola?

  • How can the deck be 30 feet above the water if the freeboard is 3 feet and the auto deck clearance is 13 feet? it should be no higher than 18 feet.

  • Wow, Scary

  • the top deck of a steel electric on that route is only 13 feet

  • You are incorrect. The top deck is more than 30 feet above water.

Update: they recently took that ferry out of service due to a crack in the steel hull, caused by rough seas on this route.

  • You are incorrect. The height of that deck is only about twenty feet, and that's allowing for six feet of freeboard. Though I admit I've only worked on it once or twice.

  • Bill,

You are a brave man... or a crazy man!

    Cool video.
