in a way, the guitar is best for distorted riffs - I don't care for the clean tone very much in this one. So, for Metallica etc stuff it would be quite good. Especially if you think about the price, the quality is good compared to it.
@stix471 I mostly use Ernie Ball 9's, and on my M-1000 which I keep in D standard, I use a 10 set. They are quite thin, I know, but that's what I'm used to...
What I can say right now, is that I do not like the clean tone at all, but distorted it isn't that bad. It's a good guitar for practising, but the sounds aren't very impressive. And I do not have anything to weigh the guitar now, sorry...
If, with a "processor" you mean some kind of a modelling amp, I don't have anything else than modelling amps :D In this video, I'm using a Line6 Pod X3 Live.
NICE playing man, thanks for this review its the only good guitar review for this guitar that ive seen on the tube, this vid really enlightened me. cheers! :D
I have had viper-50 for some four years now. it's altogether very nice to play, i like the shape, the jumbo frets etc but the only big issue is that it's top heavy. i just can't play it standing. i bought a wide leather strap but it didn't help enough. just hate it when the neck always tries to slip downwards and i must hold it still while playing. so i rather play it on my lap.
I use mine for live play all the time and i LOVE it. I'm getting a ESP LTD EC-1000 soon though and it'a going to be my backup guitar. But i love it sooo much. My volume knobs come off pretty easy too, but i didn't mind cause i never really had and problems with it ever falling off or anything.
I think I have to tune it probably once a day (I think it goes slightly out of tune in that time) but I wouldn't say it's a big problem at all. Just what you would expect at this price. Go for the guitar, I have never regretted getting it!
yo dude Im thinking of getting this guitar, I already have a gibson sg but does suit my metal stuff. I've heard that this guitar is top heavy when standing and the neck tends to dip down due to the strap button location on the back of the horn. I was just wondering if this is a real issue or not. Lemme know your opinion...thanks in advance
@megametalmaestro It is true that if you're standing up and let go of the neck, it will drop a little, but I wouldn't say that's a problem - for me at least. The neck is quite light anyway so it's not difficult to keep it in a comfortable position.
thx. I have little problem. When I have my Crybaby (535q) before my mt-2, it works not very well. Gain boost is very small, wah sound is very flat. When Crybaby is after MT-2, it works very good, gain boost is very high, wah is excellent, but this integration totally destroys nice overdrive sound of mt-2. The wah sound in your video is very nice, this was, why I asked, where is your Crybaby connected.
@vonBuchenwald hmm unfortunately I know nothing about the 535Q but I know one thing : Trial and error works :P Try everything out 'till you find what you like. I believe the 535Q should work at least as good as my Original (GCB95) - and in the same position (=before distortion).
my viper esp viper 50 is red...and for a year i play, the pickups,(the one in infront(both) ) kinda like, goin and stuck inside, unlike the one in the back pickups which is kinda not stuck inside..i forgot how they look when i bought it,do the front pickups seems like dat?i mean, its kinda pushed inside?
Wow what a confusing question, I don't know if I understood what you're asking... Both of my pickups look 100% the same, they both stick out nicely from the base thing...But on the other hand, I haven't touched them since I bought this so... :P
I have one of these I bought new for a song...I actually like it better than my dime or my Schecter. add the digitech FX and it can get really nasty...
this monster of a guitar is awesome for stuff like slipknot and SOAD, the standardtuning is drop c (if i remember correctly). wenn you wanna play slipknot, you just have to drop it down one step. and it sounds pretty evil ^^
can you pls try it out for a 2 mins just too hear how it acts and tell me i would appreciate that much! cause i dont wanna make mistake about buying el. guitar =) tnx
Do you mean heavy as in for weight? Yeah, it does weigh a good several kg's... I don't know about the newer models but mine is quite heavy (not overly heavy, like it would be disturbing, but it's noticeable). And of course you'll try it out in a store, won'tcha? :P
where it were fabricated?

hi sir, what are the size of the frets? are they extra jumbo or can you touch the wood of the fingerboard while playing?

@PiercingTruth
I believe XJ = Extra Jumbo

Dude how much approx does this thing weigh?
And is it true, that it sounds virtually like shit, when played through a processor, with effects?
