  • I use to have some of Steve's records when he was young and dont know what happened to them. I am looking for words to a song Steve sang. Into thy hands I place my life Lord to be used of thee, take my life mold my life use it as you wish to do. Thats all I can remember. Anybody know the words? thanks.

  • @searching296 I STILL have two old Stevie Sanders albums. One of them is "I'm Happy Now". I can't remember what the other one is. I am in Tn. for the summer; when I get home I'll look for you. Of course, it's been 7 mos since you posted this and another 4 wks until I get back to Fl. before I can check. Reply to this if you're still looking. And, if I forget, reply again about Oct. The song doesn't ring a bell but it's been 35 or 40 years... RIP Steve Sanders. It couldn't have been that bad, Bro!

  • Finally I found him, I have searched all over for the one he did called "Not My Will", from an old 33rpm I had of Little stevie sanders. Wish there were more...thanks for posting akdal

  • Remember him as a kid growing up in central Georgia. Even went to the same high school... D. Hughes in Macon. Tragic how his life ended .Often Appeared on Gospel singing Jubilee, Had a single hit as a teen " She loves the love I give her" and starred in a couple of movies.

  • Is this the same Steve Sanders who's an anchor on WGN?

  • @xxxWarriorGoddessxxx No. He committed suicide in the late 90s after leaving the Oak Ridge Boys.

  • We had his SINGS BIG album and I wore out "I Won't Be A Crippled Boy In Heaven". I was actually trying to find it here and found this.

  • @montanajs I loved hearing "Little Stevie Sanders" sing Crippled Boy's Prayer back in the 1960s. Years later I found the sheet music and sang it as a duet with a female voice singing the verse.

  • My granny had his Signs Big album and I clearly remember going over to her house on Sundays for dinner with the old console ringing out with " I wont be a cripple boy in heaven".

  • I went to school with his brother David and Steve started singing at our church "LITTLE STEVIE SANDERS". he also had a sister her name was Susan. They moved out of Centerville after he started acting in movies and tv shows.

He came into our classroom once. I was shocked when i found out he committed suicide after leaving the oakridge boys. I remember before one of the leads he was in the oakridge boy band.

  • It's strange that this is the only video of him singing as a young man on You Tube????? He was even younger when he first started on the show. Seems I remember him as a chubby boy. I have a couple of his albums somewhere. I enjoyed him but not with Oak Ridge Boys.

  • interesting! i remember watching these vintage eps of gospel singing jubilee when i was a teeny one in mississippi. gotta love sundays at like 11, 11:30.

  • The first southern gospel songs I learned to sing in church were Steve Sanders songs. I have all of his albums from back then. I loved him when he was in the Oak Ridge Boys too. Such a tragic loss when he left this world.

  • I loved Stevie. I remember watching him when I was a little kid, and of all his songs, I remember "Papa". That was a beautiful tribute to our earthly fathers. So, so sad that Stevie took his life. It's a shame we get to that point in our life to where it seems death is the only option. I'll always remember him and his songs.

  • I first remember him singing, "Come home... come home.. it's Supper Time."

  • I LOVED Steve Sanders on the Jubilee!!! Such a sad story.

  • Wow. I can't believe that's Steve. He looks soo young and his voice is soo different.

    Its sad that he's gone.

  • He was such an influence on me. He is truly missed.

  • Steve...we miss you brother.

  • Comment removed

  • Steve's voice is hot before the ORB.

  • Not sure if you know this, but Glen Allred was also a very early member of the Oak Ridge "Quartet", I wanna say early or mid-fifties

  • What a voice Steve had even then. Heart-breaking to know how he ended his life.
