  • Wow, looks like a fantastic gym. People who care and want to give their time to help. Wish more places like this existed, but good to see one in Philly. They care more about the safety of their boxers by keeping them in a weight class that is right for them rather than the money. Bravo.

  • I remember Terrible Tim Witherspoon with his hammering right hand!

Here's a little video I put together of some amateur fighters learning in the gym.

  • 55 an hour? how do you train everyday at 55 an hour?

  • These old school guys have of ton of knowledge. Even if you have no intention on being a professional fighter. The knowledge and training you receive will change your life.

  • This is a very good video.

  • Haa My Name Is Joe Hand :D

  • joe hand that was near the el is now on north 3rd st in northern liberties....uncle petey pop!!!! love ya!!

  • this is a good gym, been there wit tim witherspoon, nice people too

  • Does anyone know how much it costs to train here?

  • I just found out I live a mile and a half away from hear :)

  • Randy Griffin fought out of Joe Hand for quite a while.

The "warrior" angle on Phila fighters is overplayed. You go into most of the city's gyms & you will see the science of the sport is absolutely stressed to the max. The city has produced some truly great ring technicians.

One was Jeff Chandler, one of THE best fighters to ever come out of Phila (80's), but gets no mention on this particular video.

  • i <3 this gym and sean giardello is my neighbor =] i use to train here

  • wasn't joe hand north of Girard Ave [close to the el]? every time i look it up i get directions for south philly.

  • its on ritner street

  • that was a good video; wish i could visit that gym.

  • I love to see so many willng people with a vast array of knowledge giving back to the game for nothing.. Bobby Watts , the Giardello family connection , it just lets us all know how much boxing has done for its own. Joe Hands is a great lesson for us all to learn from.. I like seeing this and the likes of Johnny Toccos gym in Vegas still surviving to take boxing back to an age when it wasn't all about millions and trillions..

  • nice one

  • train me

  • brilliant video
