the thing i love about nick drake is that he did not have to be a great singer....it is as if he's just reciting a poem in his songs...i thought you did a pretty nice job with this cover. i actually enjoyed listening to it. keep it up!
Thanks for the comments, this song is from the 'Time of No Reply' album, which is a compilation of Nick's unreleased songs and session outtakes. Check it out, it's great!
Nice one I treated myself to same takemine last christmas and also learnt the song Joey, so it was quite strange to watch the video. A touch of De Ja Vu.
You practiced it for a fortnight, did you? How very sweet and dedicated. We don't hear that word very often in the U.S. so it tickles me when I hear it. Brilliantly done, by the way. And your voice has that (from what I'm told) difficult to achieve fragility that Nick had. Keep up the awesome work, my friend!
Beleive it or not, to this thay i had never listened to nick drake, but I liked this version very very much, we are eager to see and listen more from you. BTW we are suscribing
i just learned this one recently. i spent a lot of time slowing it down too. the payoff is worth the work. i see a lot of covers on here that don't stay true to Nick's tunes in the way that no one lets the melodies ring out while keeping the bass line pumping consistently. nice work.
I agree this is a nice, calm performance. The vocals are maybe a bit shy but it suits the song well as that's the way Nick Drake used to sing. Keep the songs coming.
Well played! I agree, you really do play just like nick, which is a hard thing to do. Dont be so hard on yourself, your vocals are in no way cringeworthy, in fact they suit the sing very well! :)
Thanks for the compliments folks! I practiced the song every day for about a fortnight spending quite a bit of time slowing down the original and trying to figure out the subtle variations as there are quite a few in Joey. Thanks again for all the encouragement :)

incredible, if the voice is a bit shaky it still wholly gets what the original was going after and is a worthy tribute in my take

Such a lovely version of a lovely song. Your voice is heavenly.

Excellent! Great work - don't worry about the singing. It's Drake, so the singing has to be sort of fragile. BTW which album is this song from?
5/5 and subscribed.

I love your guitar work, but the vocals need a little more power. Just push it out more, you seem scared to sing.
