  • the thing i love about nick drake is that he did not have to be a great singer....it is as if he's just reciting a poem in his songs...i thought you did a pretty nice job with this cover. i actually enjoyed listening to it. keep it up!

  • incredible, if the voice is a bit shaky it still wholly gets what the original was going after and is a worthy tribute in my take

  • Played really well

  • Love it - wish I could play like that - will try and learn it now!

  • Beautifully picked and well sung. *****

  • Great work Naz

    :)

  • Sweet! One of my favorite Nick Drake songs and your cover is very heartfelt and beautiful!

    cheers

  • Such a lovely version of a lovely song. Your voice is heavenly.

  • Excellent! Great work - don't worry about the singing. It's Drake, so the singing has to be sort of fragile. BTW which album is this song from?

    5/5 and subscribed.

  • Thanks for the comments, this song is from the 'Time of No Reply' album, which is a compilation of Nick's unreleased songs and session outtakes. Check it out, it's great!

  • Made to Love Magic - this is one of my favourite tracks. Also has a fantastic (better?) version of Three Hours

  • Yehmate, nicely done. Always reminds me of an ex gf:)

  • Very nicely played. Standard?

  • yes standard tunning, cappo 3rd

  • excellent! Beautiful guitar playing & voice. *Amy

  • I think O.K. Very good. Music that touches your soul.

  • You've got the picking down well. I really like this.

  • nice

  • I love your guitar work, but the vocals need a little more power. Just push it out more, you seem scared to sing.

  • very good indeed! come by to see my Portuguese version of Clothes of Sand.

  • very good, thanks. :)

  • Nice one I treated myself to same takemine last christmas and also learnt the song Joey, so it was quite strange to watch the video. A touch of De Ja Vu.

  • Do tell, what is takemine??? I've never understood. Will you be posting your version of "Joey" soon? Can't wait.

  • hi julia it's the make of the guitar G Series.

  • Not cringeworthy at all. It fits the music well. Lovely guitar work too.

  • You practiced it for a fortnight, did you? How very sweet and dedicated. We don't hear that word very often in the U.S. so it tickles me when I hear it. Brilliantly done, by the way. And your voice has that (from what I'm told) difficult to achieve fragility that Nick had. Keep up the awesome work, my friend!

  • I like your interpretation it is precise, nice, smooth and clean. Thank you and keep on the good work.

  • This is an awesome rendition.I'm fivestarrin' it.When did you first find out about nick drake?

  • Cheers colin, you're artwork is amazing. I've been a fan of Nick's music for about 7 years now.

  • wait till you see the next portrait of Nick I'm doing :)

  • Very good!

    :)

  • Nice, five and a fav! Glad to see I am not the only 5 finger picker out there. We should start a 5 finger pickers club.

  • Beleive it or not, to this thay i had never listened to nick drake, but I liked this version very very much, we are eager to see and listen more from you. BTW we are suscribing

  • Very nice, perfect for a Sunday morning. Keep them coming.

  • Really good one my simian friend. The voice is indeed Drakesque. Great job.

  • i just learned this one recently. i spent a lot of time slowing it down too. the payoff is worth the work. i see a lot of covers on here that don't stay true to Nick's tunes in the way that no one lets the melodies ring out while keeping the bass line pumping consistently. nice work.

  • Miauuuuu

  • The vocals seems fine to me - better than fine in fact; they suit the song. I love your guitar sound. Keep up the good work!!

  • Your fingerpicking is very clean and your notes ring out sharp and true - a great cover!

  • I agree this is a nice, calm performance. The vocals are maybe a bit shy but it suits the song well as that's the way Nick Drake used to sing. Keep the songs coming.

Thanks for your comments on my videos.

  • Well played! I agree, you really do play just like nick, which is a hard thing to do. Dont be so hard on yourself, your vocals are in no way cringeworthy, in fact they suit the sing very well! :)

  • very good! How long did take to get it right? I agree with joeburton77, vocal is fine.

  • Thanks for the compliments folks! I practiced the song every day for about a fortnight spending quite a bit of time slowing down the original and trying to figure out the subtle variations as there are quite a few in Joey. Thanks again for all the encouragement :)

  • Great stuff man. You can really play like nick! Great rythem!

  • brilliant, your guitar has a great tone to it and your vocals aren't cringeworthy as you say, in fact they are nick drake-ish
