Granted, that's significantly fewer words than I would have gotten out of tune.

Neither of them are lip-synching. Chris sounds noticeably better than Lea for one pretty basic reason: she has to sing a SHITLOAD more than he does. Not only does she get numerous solos, but she does quite a few duets and is the lead voice in a large percentage of the songs they preform. He has a lot more vocal rest than she does, and even with that, you CAN hear him get a little shrill when he holds high notes. Anyway, they're both extraordinary, and that is all.

you can tell its not lip synched bc Lea isn't 100% spot on and also, neither sang it like they did on the recording. Chris is making it seem easy for him bc he probably doesn't have nearly as many songs that require him belting whereas almost every one of Lea's are of an extreme difficulty. It also depends on the person and how they cope with situations - like travel. A concert tour has its own setbacks and stressers. It may cause more stress on Lea than on Chris.
@timocool Chris seems so effortless because he's been singing in his high register for his whole life and he's very comfortable there. This is also one of his favorite song so he's been practicing it for a long time. He's definitely live as he's improved a lot since the show/studio recording version: more power, better control, really effortless.
I don't see what's so wrong with lip-syncing. You try singing like 100 songs for each day on your tour including jumping around, dancing, and running back and forth from back stage changing your outfit a million times in under a minute. I give Kudos to anyone who does it without passing out under hot lights and over 10,000s of human body heat :) ~
This is by far one of their best performances in Glee LIVE concerts :D Love Lea, she is my favourite actress/singer and Chris is also one of my favourite singers on Glee :)

Lea and Chris are both amazing here. I'm not sure why your saying Chris was better when he sang less than Lea, therefore, he had more vocal rest than her. She did amazingly for someone who gets so many solos. Then, on the other hand, I'm completely against the fact that Chris doesn't get more solos. This season, he's had plenty of spotlight, but last season they left him alone too much. He and Lea are my favorite Glee cast members, (along with Dianna, Heather and Cory) I love them!!

Do you want to know why his voice sounds the same as the recording? It's not because he's lip syncing. It's because Lea, unlike Chris, needed her recording to be autotuned. I'm not trying to say the Lea has a bad voice, maybe her recording wasn't autotuned and she just is out of breath from singing all night and can't hit all the notes. Chris doesn't sing lead very much so he could be more rested thus he wasn't breathing heavily or making mistakes. AND THOSE PANTS ;)

I don't think that Chris sang this song live on the tour. It sounded the same every time :/ no one is that good of a singer to make it sound exactly the same each time. BTW on the second chorus, Lea started lipping. She only did this song 100% live on the tour twice.

Not Lea's best performance, but she's belted out solos for this entire live performance. Excuse her for being slightly tired, and therefore not sounding as fresh as she did in the very beginning of the concert. You can hardly say one performance makes Chris better than her. They're both unbelievable.

EVIDENCE THAT CHRIS IS NOT LIP SYNCING. In the recorded, Solo version, when Chris sings Leap, It sounds a lot like 'Plep' because of the way he pronounced it. In this one, you can tell its leap. :)

I think we need to remember that live or not they are both extremely talented.

If he's not miming then he sounds EXACTLY like the track! I love him, his voice and much prefer him to Lea but I swear he is miming! I know that the cast have done some miming on some tours. If he is, that's a bit disappointing! Why be a singer if you're not going to sing??
Just another point: Even if Chris is lip-syncing, it doesn't degrade from the fact that he is a singer with great potential. The recorded version had to come from somewhere, after all. It just seems like he needs more confidence in his abilities and it'll take some time before he's comfortable with singing live (:

Wow, I knew Chris's voice in the show was excellent but live it's absolutely phenomenal. He seriously needs more solos on the show. I mean look at 2:01; Chris is doing those high notes so effortlessly and Lea looks like she's passing a gallstone.

I actually compared the live and recorded versions prior to seeing your comment, and I have no idea whether he's lip-syncing or just like that live. Frankly, I don't like arguing about things like that>.<
Chris is lip syncing. You can tell between 'someone else's game' and 'too late for second guessing' that since it has that awkward jump/fade in that's tin the studio version. And he sings the 'oooh' at exactly the same time as the recorded version, and Lea always sings it after him.. every performance. But who cares, Chris is young and he will improve and sing live in the future.
@rabarry1 yea but Lea is belting it.. shes using her chest voice where as Chris is using his head voice. it's much easier to sing in head voice compared to singing in chest voice.. especially for a song like that. but anyway.. they're both awesome. i miss seeing Kurt with the other members of glee club! It's weird that he barely has solo songs anymore and sings back up all the time :(

Do you want to know why his voice sounds the same as the recording? It's not because he's lip syncing. It's because Lea, unlike Chris, needed her recording to be autotuned. I'm not trying to say the Lea has a bad voice, maybe her recording wasn't autotuned and she just is out of breath from singing all night and can't hit all the notes. Chris doesn't sing lead very much so he could be more rested thus he wasn't breathing heavily or making mistakes. AND THOSE PANTS ;)

@dublingal99 Yes he lipped this song on every performance of it, so did Lea starting on the second chorus to the end with two exceptions:

I don't think that Chris sang this song live on the tour. It sounded the same every time :/ no one is that good of a singer to make it sound exactly the same each time. BTW on the second chorus, Lea started lipping. She only did this song 100% live on the tour twice.

Plus there are times where they do their own little flairs or the tuning isn't perfect like it is in the recording, little things you get with a (totally awesome) live performance. There are little things that you can pick up on. I totes don't get why people are always harping on whether these performances are live or not. Hello? These people are talented, why would they not be allowed to show it?!

Not Lea's best performance, but she's belted out solos for this entire live performance. Excuse her for being slightly tired, and therefore not sounding as fresh as she did in the very beginning of the concert. You can hardly say one performance makes Chris better than her. They're both unbelievable.

EVIDENCE THAT CHRIS IS NOT LIP SYNCING. In the recorded, Solo version, when Chris sings Leap, It sounds a lot like 'Plep' because of the way he pronounced it. In this one, you can tell its leap. :)

@cherryblossomgirl90 You can't see the black box thing with Chris, but if you pay attention at certain parts you can see his ear piece and the wire leading down through his shirt collar. But either way does it really matter? Both of them are amazing singers. Yes Lea is amazing, but then if you listen to other things she's sung LIVE she's horrible, but still amazing, I'd love to have her voice. I think we need to remember that live or not they are both extremely talented.

If he's not miming then he sounds EXACTLY like the track! I love him, his voice and much prefer him to Lea but I swear he is miming! I know that the cast have done some miming on some tours. If he is, that's a bit disappointing! Why be a singer if you're not going to sing??

Just another point: Even if Chris is lip-syncing, it doesn't degrade from the fact that he is a singer with great potential. The recorded version had to come from somewhere, after all. It just seems like he needs more confidence in his abilities and it'll take some time before he's comfortable with singing live (:

Wow, I knew Chris's voice in the show was excellent but live it's absolutely phenomenal. He seriously needs more solos on the show. I mean look at 2:01; Chris is doing those high notes so effortlessly and Lea looks like she's passing a gallstone.

if you look at the pieces that are filmed on the big screen, you can see clearly that Chris's throat is... yeah moving, so I think he's singing live. But it really sounds unrealistic, so if it's live then he is even more talented than we all think. I just can't wrap my head around his talent.

Ppl should just compare all the 'live versions' and the recorded version and listen closely to what I said in my reaction beneath. I have to add: I like Chris very very much, I'm a total fag hag so how could I not like him.

I actually compared the live and recorded versions prior to seeing your comment, and I have no idea whether he's lip-syncing or just like that live. Frankly, I don't like arguing about things like that>.<

Chris is lip syncing. You can tell between 'someone else's game' and 'too late for second guessing' that since it has that awkward jump/fade in that's tin the studio version. And he sings the 'oooh' at exactly the same time as the recorded version, and Lea always sings it after him.. every performance. But who cares, Chris is young and he will improve and sing live in the future.

@rabarry1 yea but Lea is belting it.. shes using her chest voice where as Chris is using his head voice. it's much easier to sing in head voice compared to singing in chest voice.. especially for a song like that. but anyway.. they're both awesome. i miss seeing Kurt with the other members of glee club! It's weird that he barely has solo songs anymore and sings back up all the time :(

I absolutely LOVE Chris's voice. It's just... so beautiful, and it just floats above everything else... you know what I mean? When he sings, it's like he just opens his mouth and this beautiful, heavenly sound just soars out... it's amazing. It's just... heavenly. XP
They sound so great together! They sing the song so differently - Chris's way is very simple, while Lea's is just filled with emotion - and it just FITS. It's beautiful.
