ok, number 1, fish DO NOT EAT WASTE ON PURPOSE!. they will get sick and die much sooner than normal. infact, there arent any species of fish that eat crap for nutrients... and also, it is not recomended to feed them things they would not eat in the wild... tomatoes and carrots? you should give them aquatic plants to eat if you have a substrate or can provide light.
From what I have read its pretty normal. Its gross but it doesn't harm them. Maybe u can put some rocks on the bottom of yr tank. This might discourage them to dig & eat & u can also trying cleaning it up when u see it (which is obviously not always possible)
as for the poop. some turtles eat thier feces when they feel they haven't had enough nutrients. you should try to feed them diffent food and some vege's to vary just NO SPINACH it contain Phosphorus its good because it gived them color but it eats up calcium in the body which is neceessary in thier blood stream. sort of like human white blood cells

ya true but fish are like barely alive. they go into shock so easily that they die way before they are even in any pain. and fish are a great food for turtles. It contains so much calcium which is essential for the growth and health of a RES. if anyone has a sick turtle with calcium deficiency then feed it fish. you may have to chop it into peices.
If it is the exact same thing then it is a Red Ear Slider. Do u know if it is too small like a baby turtle. It is actually illegal to sell them or have them as pet. Baby turtles are proven to carry a salmonella (hope I spelled it right)

Take it to the vet. Is it cold at wherever u live? If yes then make sure the tank or whatever water is not too cold.
