My ma always used Crisco back when and now all these tree huggers and health nuts got her all scared and she listens to them nuts about what to eat and not eat. She doesn't get to enjoy the finer foods in life anymore like the pies, cakes and cinnamon roles she used to make. Theirs nothing wrong w/Crisco, look at all these big healthy people that grew up on it and live till they are way past 80. The fairs and the cooking contest and pie eating contest, why don't we have them any more?
I really don't listen to country music, but I know who Loretta Lynn is, and I know that's she's reportedly the "nicest person in showbiz"...that said, I'd like to see her do a new ad for Crisco...or something to do with baking. She looks so honest and genuine :)
Yeah whoever thought of adding "digestible" in there probably shouldn't have. Instead of bringing to mind the benefits, I just think indigestion, and then I don't want to buy it.
Loretta sure was a convincing spokeswoman for Crisco--I mean, who are you gonna trust more than a woman who's been baking pies for her husband since she was 15 years old?
You aren't the only one who says that! Only I say it this way: "She's flakier than Loretta Lynn's piecrust!"
BTW, when Crisco was introduced in 1911, it was an all-vegetable shortening in a day when the only other frying alternative was lard--and quite frankly, foods cooked in lard upset more than a few people's stomachs back in the day. So that's why "IT'S DIGESTIBLE" appeared on Crisco cans for years!
THIS was filmed in the kitchen of Loretta and mooney' Antebellum home before the had a smaller home built on the ranch and moved to it in 1988...The video for Miss Being Mrs. is also filmed in the big house

Crisco also makes a great lube for anal sex. Loretta Lynn wanted to share that information but the suits at Crisco wouldn't let her.

krusokat 6 months ago
@krusokat It's vegetable shortening (fat). It was developped to replace lard.

I like how they say it's "digestable." Don't we just assume that with FOOD?

Her hubby, Doo died when she got the Glow Coat mixed up with the Crisco Oil and put it on Doo's salad.

I wonder if Loretta Lynn used Crisco as lube. Some country girls can get very kinky.

She's saying, 'And today I'm still using..." not "I'm damn still using Crisco." It's just kind of jumbled because of her accent.
And for The Zunigal, Crisco isn't lard. Lard is from pork fat. Crisco is vegetable shortening.

I don't think our parents and grand-parents knew any better about lard back in the day. Why this stuff isn't banned is beyond me.

I loved these Crisco commercials with Loretta Lynn. They inspired one of my favorite expressions: "So-and-so is flaky as a Crisco crust!"
