i started whistling this tune today, having had it on tape in my first car lol.i loved this tune. the lyrics came to me today and i spent 2 hrs online tonite to try and find it. at last, this still sounds brilliant today 20 odd years later
I was walking down the street once, a car passed by playing this tune, An old woman in front of me turned around and with a really confused expression asked me, "Can you hear the angels too?"
I think , as far as i can remember, that this is the original version of Age of love. Great track, hymn, first time i listen to it , i thought that this song came from the future. Haa, i'm a prophet...
This was the first MAJOR trance song played in clubs around the world I remember listening to this song long before Prodigy & Chemical Brothers hit the scene in the early to mid 90'sa truely groungbreaking song for its time
There is track that was produced in India that came out in the very early 80's.... also Delia Derbyshire was making "trance" long before this track came out... So this is not the earliest known example of trance.... its just the best know to a generation that never knew its roots :)
it is the!!! (first) and heard (trance) version!!! but lots of other famous and genious and equal tracks followed, especially in 1993 (best Techno/Trance year in history). They are my life, my blood, my breath my life my kids... until I die, I will live in the memories of the best part of my life and I will take this into my grave!
Well no! It is the earliest example of what is now defined as the trance genre. You have not fully explored Pink Floyd if you think this is the first music that will put you in a trance. I have been listening to music since the late 60's right through to the early Ibiza and Hacienda days. This is still a top track - one of the very very best but people should not think trance started in 1992.
When I was just a little kid I used to listen to this kinda music with my older cousin.. Great memories, later on we went partying together and heard this song in so many remixes...
I remember when this was first released and was the last tune heard at Glade Festival 2007 as we left.....and today we are all going back to Glade 2009 and Im sure I will hear it there too....
it was an excellent to time to be a music maker. i was lucky enough to be one of them performing with those who made it alive. very good times. course i still think it blew mind a little more when techno came out first.
Jesus been drug free for years and years now and feel like crying with happiness when I hear choons like this from the past. I think you almost get the same feeling as you did back in the day . Hair stand one end and get a chill. We were lucky to grow up in such times.
the minimal techno and tektonik hype electro house shite nowadays sounds so shallow , soulless totaly uninnovative in compare to this ,elevating , stimulating, higher vibrating piece of trance.
music that speaks to the soul and takes the mind to a higher consiousness.
Untill Trance becomes a hype as well :). In Belgium in fact it was a bit of a hype with DJ Tiësto. But I don't really know a lot about the Trance scene in Belgium.
omfg this is defo tha best version of this track tis a pure come up on an e tune espcially the high energy part from 1 min 47 whoaaaaaaaaaaaa pass me the glo stix i wana danceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
lol, most computers I know don't have either the speakers or sound card to reproduce the main drum... everyone I link this song to is like "FUCKING THING HAS NO BEAT" rofl
Amon Duul II - Viva La Tranc, Klaus Schulze - Trancefer, The KLF's early stuff, And The Future Sound of London's pre-90s stuff. Have all been credited with shaping trance before the the 90s
i really do think this is the original i have a oldskool cd compilation this version is on it and it states original version dated 1990 but i dont want to corse arguments.
If you had been in a hot club in the early 90ies, then you wouldn't dislike a track like this. See girls raising their arms during the chorus and dancing, dancing, dancing and jumping in the omen. I love that time. And... I got the vinyl, hehehehe.
One can hear trance from an earlier time. Some producers in Germany were producing sounds with a trance sound. I would consider this 'club' trance, and perhaps the earliest known example of it.
Yeah, there were tracks around before Age Of Love with trance like elements like What Time is Love but in my opinion this is what really laid the foundations for the whole trance genre to be founded upon.
IMO this track influenced the creation of trance.
What Time is Love is great too though....maybe Anthem House???

not really: remember jean michelle jarre, tangerine dream or switched on bach

@DerStadtbus
you're so wrong mate ...
jarre, tangerine, switched, or even vangelis the;re only electronic music
THE FIRST trance song (but not whole song) is The KLF - What time is love (1988)
Trance music has roots in acid house (ex.The KLF) but Age of Love - Age of Love is really the first one, first trance one (whole song)
