I just came back from a visit to Toronto and it was absolutely awesome! I got to go see the CN Tower, Casa Loma, the Hockey Hall of Fame, not to mention Niagara Falls on my way back. The Canadians are a great group of hospitable people. I hope to see more of the country someday.

How the fuck do they decide the order when the countries parade? It's not done alphabetically. It just seems pointlessly random to me. If i knew when my country was due to come on, i could ignore the rest of the parade and make myself a cup of tea.

They do it in the alphabetical order of the language of the host country. In this case, since the Games were in Athens, it was done according to the Greek alphabet.

Next week, since China doesn't really have an "alphabet" per se, the countries will be introduced by the number of strokes used to make the first letter of the country's name. I believe that Guinea will be first, as it only has 2 strokes.
