I love this sword. It took a little sharpening (although that might have been because it was in the box for a few years) at first, but overall it's wonderful. The leather on the grip is very comfortable, it's an excellent length for my height, and is beautifully balanced. This sword is actually enough to make me wish that someone would break into my house. ;)

Viking Swords were thrusting weapons. If they werent, they would most likely be curved.

It was used for thrusting but slashing was it's primary function.They used chain mail not only to protect against slashes, but thrusts as well. The vikings probably would have had braised or riveted chain mail, which can stop a thrust. The chain mail that you see on deadliest warrior is butted mail which wasn't used in europe, except for early celtic and roman period.

Guys the term viking sword is a misnomer. It should be called a viking age sword. Most armies during the 600-1000 used similar swords, such as the celts, franks, slavs, english, etc. This is also why it is correct to see celtic knots on the swords, because celts did use them as well. It was recorded that the Franks made the highest quality viking age sword and actually tried to keep them away from their enemies.
