  • My uncle lives in the Catskills.

  • i love that damn sound of the engine and the i've always loved the front grill of caddies. they just make me wanna throw money at it like a stripper

  • Why does it sound like he's sitting in a wooden rocking chair?

  • Cadillac is such a cheesy luxury car manufacture. they try to act like they make the best luxury cars in the world but when you see there vehicles in person they look so cheap and their interiors look like they came out of a early 90s pick up trucks. which is why a lot of European countries see this kinds of vehicles and they start to laugh because we Americans call them luxury cars, when there is nothing luxurious about them.

  • @anthonypp100 I don't know if you've sat in any Mercedes recently or previous generation BMW but Cadillac's interiors, although slightly down from the others, is still very nice. Yes, today, you can get nicer interiors from the competition but you can't deny Cadillac's are great value. I personally wouldn't buy one though, I'd rather go with an Audi A8 4.2, Audi S4 B8, or BMW F10 M5.

  • I thought it would be a typical American track - with no turns and straight only. :D

  • @whatever0481 ummm the cts-v had a time of 7:59 around the nurburgring track, which is the fastest official time for a foor door car :O

  • lol STFU and stop trying to justify why you are mad at yourself for not owning an American car...i swear you bitch like your trying to validate your own decision...take the jap crap and shove it...and while your cryin over the loss go youtube "CTS-V vs GTR" and prepare to cry a lil more ; )

  • GM got the styling wrong here. It is very dated and square.

  • @MHawk01

I happen to think it looks great. I'm sick of the organic look of all European cars.

  • i love this car. its perfect

  • I've seen a few around now and was curious as to what this f*cking ugly thing was all about - thats why I came and watched this! (We don't get many American cars down here, so they really stand out - but I guess something as ugly as the CTS would stand out anywhere!)

  • @matthewjsharpe OOO.. sounds like another jealous M5 owner, sorry but men dont drive gay ass BEAUTIFUL cars, we drive aggressive looking cars which this is, It has a look of "DONT FUCK WITH ME!!!" and for very good reason.

  • @GamesterX69 Nah, both M5's and CTS-V's are way out of my price range, and even if I had the $230,000 odd a M5 costs here, I wouldn't buy one. My "toy" car is just an old Toyota Soarer (Lexus SC in the US). I have a young family so it'll be a long time before I can afford anything better.

I agree, the CTS-V is aggressive looking, but its also angular, fussy, and will date quickly.

  • @matthewjsharpe ugly?and yet you drive a Soarer?lol, stop hating, hey isn't that the car company with 50 million recalls or am i just making up stuff?to even admit to driving a toyota and than talk about another car quality makes me ponder???

  • Comment removed

  • @heartboy86 Beauty is in the eye I guess, but I think most people would agree the Z30 series Soarer is a pretty nice looking Coupe. And who's hating now? And yeah, the 2009-10 drivers mat and accelerator total recalls were around 8 million vehicles - not 50 so you are pretty much making this stuff up. Not to mention that the quality of new toyotas mats, and (now disproven) accelerators have nothing to do with my 14 year old Toyota. Better than billions of dollars in bailouts I guess.

  • @matthewjsharpe im not trying to talk bad about toyotas, they can make pretty good cars but i thinks its funny for you talk bad about caddys when toyota itself got money to from bailouts, from the US and Japan, and plus GM bailouts went to the UN,it didnt go into making cars and plus caddy, buick and chevy were the companies that were selling well for GM,it was dead wiegh like hummer and saturn that was killling them and plus when was the last time you heard of caddy recalling their cars??

  • @heartboy86 Happens all the time even to Cadillac's, in fact a quick search revealed the CTS and CTS-V both had a recall for airbag problems. Toyota's real problem was they tried to keep it quiet when they shouldn't have. Still not as bad as what Mitsubishi Fuso did in the 90's though. As for the CTS-V, I'm not denying its vast performance, or that mechancially its probably very good to be getting such great track times - I just think its very ugly and will date badly - much like the 300 has

  • @heartboy86 Oh, and yes, Toyota has made some god awful looking cars over the years too, as well as the good ones. Most manufacturers have.

  • @matthewjsharpe well that any car companies because ppl have different taste in cars, some car make look horrible to some but handsome to others

  • Charlie is awesome!

  • I'm going to buy one right now.

  • Cadillac was named after the founder of Detroit... It's only fitting they develop a car that dominates anything coming outta the city.

  • I am buying American, and I'm buying Cadillac,

  • Ok, not a hater... I am a "buy american" whore...

But... When we are supposed to be listening to the engine, all I hear is creaking and cracking from the inside of the car... stuff you dont hear in say a C63amg. Stuff like that would annoy the piss out of me...

Also, this show needs a better test driver... sorry mate.

  • i'll take this over any other american car including the new ZR1, uh its a cadillac

  • Best car in $60K price range and to top it off you get the 100K warranty, any other auto manufacture offering this insane warranty on a sports super car, I think not!

  • Bmws no problems just haters. I hav a 335

  • This a bad ass car, screw German cars, Audi owners go add engine oil caus your rs4 burns oil

  • I love how all the German car fans talk about the problems you have with the caddy, or any american car. Check out the Bimmer forums lately?

I see a lot of "power steering leak help", "CV joint- help", and other items that are going wrong with the "reliable" supior German engineered car.

Fact is, cars have issues. All of them. German ones just have more and more costly ones. For great engineered cars, they sure are less reliable than your average K car.

Uh, One caddy to go, please.

  • only $60,000...? I guess I'll just pay in cash with that 60 grand I have lying around.

  • LOL

But you gotta admit, for what it is, it's a good value.

  • I had a chance to drive an 06' CTS-V man what a car it kicked butt on any overseas car I can just imagine how the 09' is I would love to have the chance to drive one. I had a blast when Bondurant was at Sears Point / Infineon Raceway

  • I like car but hate the grille

  • front grill and lights look like SENTRA SE-R

    LOL...why copy a sentra!?

  • Which Sentra se-r? Never seen a nissan that looks anything like a caddy. I don't like the grille because I feel it cheapen the look of the car. other than that, cadillac got style that is all their own.

  • And don't forget, cadillac had this design on the market for awhile now. and date back to the late 90's with concept cars. The 2009 CTS is just a more slicked out version of the 1st gen CTS. so I can't agree they copied sentra se-r since the cadillac lines goes back to late 90's cadillac concepts.

  • what;s with all the cracking

  • microphone in the helmet

  • How Much Will This APporimitly Cost In 3 Years , in 2012 ???

  • y is that when you get your lisence? Your thirteen arent you?

  • Yaa I Am (A)

  • i think i just came

  • lmao this isnt even the catskills

  • i have a ford ranger woot

  • That would be good if one of those American Auto GUYs give me answer, E63 ,M5 they both making alot of power with normal aspiration engine and even you can see size of engine on M5 and this CTS-V !! Why GM to make powerful car has to add Turbo or Super Charger kit ?????? Most of sport auto maker now are getting 100hp out of 1000cc, Example,BMW,Porsche,Merc. Why GT500 has 500hp with supercharge out of 5.4l engine.with respect to all people.

  • theres a lot of reasons, this is a luxury car, so, to keep the reliability they add a supercharger, if you werent to add a power add on, like a turbo etc, you would have to up the compression, causing more heat, and rpm causing less reliability

  • The CTS-V is actually more fuel efficient than the BMW M5 despite the fact that it is faster on the track and the drag strip. German cars are not always better and here's one example.

  • German cars are always better then american ones. They are more efficent and the doen't need so much fuel.

  • Ha ha ha! 15/24 for the 'Lac, 11/17 for the Krautmobile.

MPG is not usually a huge concern in high performance vehicles.

  • Some people hate to admit that the BMW, Audi and Mercedes has been beaten by Cadillac in the nurburgring and that is one big improvement for cadillac. The germans have a big advantage with their technology though but I wouldn't really bother. It's nicer looking than an M5.

  • Many hates this car because it's AMERICAN. Well, I'm pretty sure you'll all hate BMW if BMW is American instead of German and you'll like Chevrolet if it was German. Just admit that Cadillac is now on the competion and really competing with ze Germans. Just remember, NURBURGRING!

  • Who hates it then? If anything people are ignorant about it and dismiss it before taking the time to know it but that's because GM has wrecked their own brand(s). It's an awesome car, if only GM had turned the wheel over to the engineers a bit sooner, it's future may have been a bit more certain.

  • That is a very perceptive comment "GM has wrecked their own brand" When I was a boy Cadillac was comparable to Rolls Royce, I too hope they've not left it too late. I own a CTS though, and its every bit as good as I'd hoped it would be.

  • people hate american cars because they waste lot of gas and they have very ugly interior, and i agree with that, except with some chevy cars and of coarse, the Cadillac

  • i don't know many people who hate Cadillac.

  • its a nice car but not as luxorius as a BMW M5 or Mecedes E63AMG also German cars have a better reputation for build quality.

  • The ride in the BMW M5 isn't really that smooth and mercedes is probably better. Cadillac needs to go further if they want to get a better reputation. And mercedes was before having a hard time with the build quality but they're improving and so as the Americans but nothing can beat the reliability of Japanese cars.

  • who cares at this point? that fricken CTS V is amazing bro!!!!!! I've never owned a jap car and Ive owned several American cars with no problems with reliability so to me you sound like a Hater of American craftsmanship! "Say it ain't so.!

  • Well I dont hate American craftmanship and I wouldn't even compare it to Japanese and European because it's in a class of it's own but many people compare. The thing is, it's not just the car but how the driver treats the car. It also depends on how the car was built so some may get the reliable one while some may get the unreliable. It's just a matter of luck and smart decisions in choosing a car. And America's learning from their mistakes now. I like the new Ford Taurus HSO.

  • you mean SHO

  • I've never liked American cars for two reasons; notoriously shitty quality, and awful design. Well, the ZR1 and this lovely sauerkraut-eating Caddy changed my tune considerably. The quality may still not be on par with the Japanese , but fuck all that, I'll hand you a blank check for that sweet sound of the V.

  • @WinchesterQDouche havent seen a caddie recall lately but tons of jap ones and caddie gives a 100K mile warranty, the shitty American cars went out in the 80's and they've built some great cars in Detroit the last 20-25 years "in the $30K up range atleast", I put 375K miles on my '93 lincoln continental"my work beater" while my friends that buy jap cars trade them off under 100K because of issues they have with them! "a.k.a cant afford the tow bills" lincoln went 1/4 million miles on first trans

  • catskills woop woop my house is around the corner

  • it costs as much as da new escalade deyum

  • Yeah, "Only sixty thousand bucks". I'll take two.

  • Why would people come to this video just to hate on the car?

I said it before and I'll say it again, if you think this car is garbage, go drive one.

  • OMG shut up u guys dont get it GM wanted to build a luxury car that can compete in performance with the m5 and the Mercedes and other foreign pieces of shit and they did and the CTS-V beat them....get over the fact that GM made a BETTER...i said BETTER car

  • finally it just took them two bails out to do so, I'm still a fan of German automobiles!

  • Better than what? Volkswagen Fox?

  • LISTEN!! I already had the bmw, audi, mercedes, mazda, honda, an Cadillac!! ..out of all the cars i had! I would get a CTS! Hands down.. that Caddy was/and still is SOLID!! ..trust me I drive with LIFE!! thats my word!! all the rest i had major problems.. people shouldn't talk shit about cars they never had.. Anywho!! ..like the guy said u can't go wrong with that CTS-V That will be my next car.. striaght goods!!

  • Agreed!

  • Ditto!

  • Fail.

  • this car produces more torque in idle than the mercedes c 63 or the bmw m5

  • Well when that happens you take it to the shop down the road and have them fix it. Try that in you M5. Then you will be the one who can't drive your car. I really wish people would think befor they type.

  • Mercedes gets 518hp for a 6.2L engine WITHOUT a supercharger. I prefer naturally aspirated engines, but thats just me.

Now I'm not dissing this CTS-V or anything which is outstandingly fast, but I just believe that they could of produced more hp without the supercharger that sux gas like no other. Personally superchargers and turbo's are COMMONLY the cheap way of getting. more power. There are exceptions of course

  • i thought the c63 which has the 6.2 V8 only produces 450

  • Yup, your right, but they detuned it so it wouldn't interfere with their other higher end models such as their E63's and CL63 and so forth. The C63 is their lowest of low AMG models. Besdies of course their SLK amg lol

  • You are correct but dont forget this is a detuned version of the motor in the ZR1. In that application it produces 638hp. American cars may have their faults but being out gunned generally isnt one of them. This motor has the ability to produce the same kind of power that the Benz 12 cylinder motors can.

  • Without supercharger this engine produces around 400 bhp, that's more than 100 bhp less than Mercedes can do with the same displacement.

  • I would be curious to know where you get that 400hp number from? What you are suggesting is in fact that this new motor minus the supercharger is no more powerful than the previous generation. Anybody who knows anything about engines knows that more goes into hp figures than the adding or taking away of a supercharger, keep in mind this engine produces 638 hp with a few tweak, more in line with MB's 12 cylinder engines. I dont get the point of your comment or what logic it is based in.

  • the old CTS had nearly identical engine withouth any super or turbochargers and it was producing 400 bhp.

Mclaren SLR Mercedes needs just a 5.4 L supercharged engine to produce comparable amount of ponnies as ZR1.

The upcoming SLS will have a naturlly aspirated 560 bhp from a 6.2 V8.

    I call that superior engineering.

  • The previous generation CTS's engine was not "nearly identical" to the current one. Do some research. Your "examples" are not a matter of superior engineering but of different ideologies. Keep in mind the ZR1 and CTS-V engines weight next to nothing compared to their German rivals, they are smaller and in fact more economical. The American and German engines have significant differences in design theory that account for these differences, I suggest you look up the terms bore and stroke.

  • buddy if you knew anything about engineering...you would know terms such as stress, and such...then you would look at a corvette or cts-v with with an ls series engine and look at the gas mileage. gm purposely builds high displacement engines to reduce the stress from the work the engine has to do. the merc slr is a full blown race/luxury/arabs car and its output is at its max. gm supercharged an ls3 6.2 l engine and got 638bhp or 510 rwhp out of it, theres tune kits to make that 700hp

  • 400bhp? in the same sense of displacement, what about package size? Also it doesn't take much to get these NA motors to hit 500bhp or more

  • ...using a supercharger.

  • pretty easy without a supercharger

    cam/header/exhaust and tuning

besides these CTS-Vs are getting another 30+rwhp from tuning alone. Factory tune is ridiculously rich

  • the ls2 which is a 6.0 liter engine can achieve 600+bhp with the correct heads, cam, exhaust, intake manifold....

  • A GM produced LS series engine like those in the ZR1 and CTS-V, are in fact smaller and lighter than there over head camshaft German rivals.

  • not true

AMG built v8 engines are similar in weight as LSx motors

  • I need to get ballsier in the corners

  • most of the time it's not who makes the car it's how people drive there cars it can be a BMW or a GMC as long as you take care of your shit than most of the time you will be trouble free

  • Uhm... They build a 556Hp car capable to beat records on the Nurburgring with one of a kind technologies (suspension) and they say that GM is in a financial crisis?

  • Lexus le patea el traero a cadillac

  • al lexus Is-f le falta mas de 120 caballos comparado con el cadillac y cuesta 20 mil dolares mas.... que mierda es lexus

  • I LOOOOOOVVEE CADILLAC!!!! <333333

  • dont be jealous

  • I dont like American cars but, this one is sweet

    WRX OWNER

  • wooooo weeeeeeee.... wifey might like that... wonder if the coupe is gonna drop....

  • what problems are those smoky?

  • engine knocking, blown block, blown gaskets, the need to be rebored, incorrect idling, and the list goes on as you start to install gm parts around it. such as a alternator, valves, torqe converters, cam shafts, crank shafts, water pumps and then again the list goes on..........................................................those problems nozrty!

  • Every mass produced engine has the potential to have those problems, any mechanical part has the potential to fail. Every car company has a laundry list of problems that each of their engines suffer from. You want to see problems, look into the Nissan Titan.

  • yeah and gm has alot of them, and ill bet the titan has problems too. wuldnt doubt you on tht 1.

  • All I am saying is that GM doesn't have a disproportionate amount of major problems when compared with other manufacturers. Today the mainstream Manufacturers are all very close in terms of quality and TGW.

  • BamFor07 is totally right on the mark with his statement. In terms of quality all manufacutes are running neck and neck. Consumers have been mislead by the history of a few bad eggs

  • you must have never owned a bmw

7series was plagued with engine failure

  • nope but i have owned a couple of gm products including some cadillacs and there plagued with all kinds of problems.

  • weird

my father runs a construction company and he goes through at least two new trucks/vans every year from big 3 and gm has been the most trouble free out of the big 3. Ford diesels on the other hand... ugh

  • not wierd common for gm's to fuck up, in my opinion if your going to buy American (which you should if you live in America) buy a FORD there trouble free and DEBT FREE. unlike gm and chrysler.

  • Well then tell me a ford product that can keep up with this, other than the GT500KR? How about the ZR1? or you could pussy out and don't reply... that would probably be best for you, no?

  • Just a whole bunch of insults, no annswers. That really helps your case doesn't it

  • You wish, you know you really did pussy out. You can't think of anything but insults either when you can answer my question, then you've actually accomplished something.

  • Does the Ford GT count?

  • Ford GT is not a sedan if you are talking about the most powerful american sedan

  • Well no... He just asked what Ford Product could compete with this...

  • althugh it would it is no longer in production, plus the ZR1 is quicker

  • tha 6.2. liter motor has been put in the silverado for a long time. itz tha vortec and its plauged with problems like most other gm products.

  • Actually it is a different engine, the displacement is the same but the engine design is different. Look it up before you spread incorrect information.

  • its the same block that blows under pressure, dressing it up different isnt going change shit, thats why there going to need a bailout. becuz of there shit motors becuz they have the design down. i can say that much about gm.

  • Yawn, it is a different engine. They are not from the same family. Like I said just because the displacement is the same doesn't mean its the same engine. They are entirely different engines anybody who knows anything about engines and GM engines for that matter knows that these are not the same engine. I suggest you read into the subject, there is lots of information on GM engines that is widely available, take a look sometime.

  • I like how Cadillac have fitted a proper manual gearbox instead of those stupid paddle shifters

  • Very NICE! Would love a stripped down one without all the luxury...that would be a hell of a car!!!!

  • nice car but i dont trust gmc's reliability/quality once it reaches that one year mark. i would hate to spend so much money on something that would brake down on me.

  • The V8 in that car is prob the best v8 you can buy!

  • yeah for one year, the same v8 thats in my silverado thats plauged with problems.

  • This is a new engine used in the ZR1 Corvette.

  • nah its the same 6.0 sum bull shit engine, that is fuked.evrybody thats had one usually has the smarts never to but one again. i kno i wont even if it is a badass looking luxury car, it wont run in the future.

  • No... it IS the 6.2 liter v8 from the Zr1. Its been detuned for the CTS-V. Its not from the Silverado.

  • hey, I raced with the guy, Jason Bannermon, he is one of the head guys up at that road course. love the cts-v

  • Dude have you driven a jaguar xf? if you have can you tell me what you think about it?

  • I love the XF. The styling is excellent if you can get past the grill and headlights which don't match the rest of the car.

Performance, interior comfort, etc. is excellent. It's one of my favorite cars and is a good competitor to the CTS.

  • Too bad GM has to go bankrupt =(

  • this guy makes the best reviews, he gets under the skin of the car and explains the little details the fine techy stuff others just dont, what other reviewer is gona mention the wheel hop problem and cadillac's solution and innovation. He gets to the unique features of every car.

    My fav car reviewer

  • Thanks for the compliment!

    - charlie@roadfly

  • Great review Charlie, cool that you got to drive it there, had to been a great experience.

  • This car is a trip and a half! Nice work GM!

  • Guys, the creaking sound you're hearing is the plastic camera mount and the microphone mount. It's not the car creaking. Even if a car was creaking while driving around a race track the creaks could never be heard over the wind noise and engine noise.

FWIW, the CTS is awesome! As much as I like the power of the V, I mostly talk about the interior and the best stereo/nav system out there when folks ask me about the CTS.

    Cheers,

    Charlie@roadfly

  • the creak noice is coming from the camera thats inside the car

  • I owned an 05 CTSV and didn't experience creaks like what I heard on the new one through this vid. However, I like how the half shafts were addressed. Maybe the rear diff is stronger too. Another plague in the older model V was the transmissions synchros going bad. Maybe the automatic cured this too. After buying the V new, I'll never buy a General Motors anything new. If I buy this new V, it'll be after someone takes a $10k depreciation hit.

  • Well, there's no question that creaks and noises have been the hallmark of my '08 CTS4. I have the 3.6DI engine and all the options, and yet the one thing that constantly annoys me is the creaking and rattling. Everything from the sunroof (which the dealer tried to fix) to the plastic console to the seats rattle, and I only have 9k miles on it. Overall, though, the driving experience is fun and involved. I'd love to drive the CTS-V.

  • crazy how cadillac went from big boaty ass hogs, to niiice looking rides like this.

  • Yea i heard some creaks too but then again it could have been the camera equipment mounted in the car.... you never know but for 60 grand its an absolute bargain.

  • The sound of the creaks came out of my speakers fine.

    Well made car.

  • Yea, but they sure loaded it up with cameras everywhere which may have been hurting around those bends.

  • dont get me wrong, LOVE the direction GM is going with their cars.. and totally would buy one.. but that creaking is a bid worrisome

  • this has a manual??

  • Yes, you can get it in either a 6 speed Auto or 6 speed manual.

  • hmmm. i still don't want one.

  • I want to join that country club! And get a new CTS-V to drive around in

  • not usually a big fan of the CTS...but this new CTS-V is definitely a great one!

  • nice..

  • I will own one!!

  • Amazing how this makes the previous CTS-V look like total crap.

  • This is my next car for sure love it. stealth speed and style blistering performance

  • That CTS-V kicks ass!

  • what happened to his voice!

  • I live near the Catskills!

  • First....now neg me lol
