  • What a scumbag. Wish I believed in hell so I could picture Bernays burning in it.

  • people lie all the time too, they dont realise that lying has consequences.. serious ones..1

  • Humanity is just farted itself up over the centuries, and now they are rushing to explode...that's what happens when you make humans into a hive mind focused on complete rubbish!

  • Ifad.

  • I find it very disturbing how self-satisfied these people are with manipulating people into doing the irrational...all in the name of consumerism. Overall very thought-provoking, if not terrifying.

  • Edward Bernays was a great man!

  • Cigarettes and tattoos.

The new uniform of the individual.

  • Thanks Bernay for degrading human society.

  • I stopped smoking yesterday, i can't afford the habbit.

  • Bernays empire of dirt.

  • I wonder if he ever felt guilt that his marketing technique killed so many women

  • @darkallegiance666 Ah, as I suspected, you are oblivious to it. Well, some may be very sensitive to reading others order them around, esp since all our sick society does is give orders. For starters, your next to the last comment had 2 direct orders: (1) ...PM me.... and (2) ...but be prepared for...

You give these types of orders constantly. I cannot debate with someone who issues orders. It sets up an authority relationship that denies truth.

  • @FathomlessJoy Nothing's your fault, me old dear? All mine then, is it? I agree that an "authority relationship" denies truth. You're a funny guy though - both amusing & strange. You haven't replied to a number of my comments & yet you seem to honestly believe that I am in command of you. Yet you command me to answer all of your comments. You've taken offense where sometimes it was intended & other times not. Should try pulling your thorns in, dear. I wish you joy, you curmudgeonly old thing.

  • @darkallegiance666 I ask you questions, I do not command you to do things. You would be hard pressed to cite one direct command I have issued to you. I just don't talk or use the language like that anymore, it serves no purpose, it's merely a power trip, an illusion - it is the sort of thing Bernays would do, frankly. I DON'T believe you have any power over me. You have tried to exercise some - otherwise, why did you issue all those orders? I only cited two recent ones, but there are many.

  • @FathomlessJoy This is honestly distressing you, isn't it?(NB: question marks are not commands where I come from). I'm starting to feel worried about you my dear, because even though I'm older than you are (if your chnl is to be believed) IMO you seem oddly older & yet younger than I am. Too, IMO you have questions mixed up with commands. You truly loathe Bernays, don't you? What is it about him that so revolts you? I wonder if he reminds you of somebody from your past. Best of luck & Joy, man.

  • Freedom fries, anyone?

  • Scary how proud Mr. Bernays appears in his interviews. Notice that he's fat and bloated and scaling, like a tick or reptile, he's surrounded with food and drink, peering over it as if a child in a pile of toys, attemptting in vain to stuff himself with more, more, MORE..... Quintessential materialist! Made me shiver.

  • @FathomlessJoy The old guy has to eat & indeed might have been presented this way just to elicit comments like yours. If it hadn't been Bernays it would have been somebody else. You could extend your blame to the "fat cats" who wanted their products pushed & to the public who bought into (and continue buying into) the whole deal. They do have a choice, you know.

  • @darkallegiance666 "The old guy has to eat " this is just an attempt to rationalize and justify his participation. You don't think his behavoir is rational and just, do you? As for the "fat cats"... if we didn't fight for them, politicians couldn't wage wars, right? I would expect a similar rationalization from Bernays: "I wasn't doing it, the big bad fat cats were. I just showed them how to do it very effectively. If I didn't someone else would have." Is this the world you want to live in, sir?

  • @FathomlessJoy I wrote that the old guy has to eat because humans eat to stay alive & it was the choice of the BBC to film Bernays as he was eating. Bernays was obviously avid for money & everything else that most people stupidly regard as "the good life" but people do have choices. His behavior was "rational & just" in his mind, but do I agree? No. However, he wasn't the first to promulgate inhumanities & he won't be the last. Do you examine your life for gross materialism & sins? I hope so.

  • @darkallegiance666 I have a right to my perception, which I stated - the man oozed sickness. No authority can tell me that I do not have a right to my perception, and no, you have not been granted that authority over me, either, thanks. I will say: a point in every direction is the same as no point at all. Enjoy!

  • @FathomlessJoy Your ID name should be "Joyless Fathoms" rather than "Fathomless Joy". Debate is debate & your opinion, repeated twice on this series almost word for word, was just begging to be answered. Perhaps one day you will end up as a scaley reptilian old man oozing sickness & greed, & people will stand in judgement of you too - or are you already there? When is the last time that you laughed at yourself? Ever? You should try it. I bet Bernays never laughed at himself either.

  • @darkallegiance666 I will keep my ID the way it is, thank you. Also, I don't think there was a comment quota, do you make those rules and no one told me? Why do you insist that others change for you, according to your rules and when they don't, they do not acknowlege you as an authority over them, you spew hatred? I don't understand, help me to understand, please, darkallegiance666. Good point about laughing at myself. I needed that one, thanks!

  • @FathomlessJoy Glad to oblige, O Joyless One. I regularly laugh at myself & others. "Spew hatred"? And here I thought it was you who was doing that to me. My, we do get mixed up on Youtube, don't we? I have "authority" over nobody but myself (& that's a hard enough job in itself). I also thought that you were "spewing hatred" over Bernays. What's the use? He's dead & gone. It's people who carry his work on. Debate, Mr. FathomlessJoy, debate. Or am I exerting undue power over you again?

  • @darkallegiance666 But you don't want a debate, right? I stated facts from my observation, and you call names. When I call you on it, and ask how it jives with your childish hope for an "afterlife" you call more names and change topics. Again, a point in every direction is the same as no point at all. You have not power, I stated that. You THINK you do tho, cause you're always ordering me to do things. I don't do them, because I know you have no authority, but yet the whole thing is amusing.

  • @FathomlessJoy ROFL Guess who's sounding childish now? But that's nice - we all need to keep in touch with the "inner child" don't we? Re my "childish hope" for the afterlife - I can't fit it in these damned short Youtube ch. limits. If you really want a debate on it then PM me, but be prepared for what you will probably soberly deem insanity. In my quests I've been called a few names by USA Christians lately - possessed by a demon, NWO & "shill" (for the devil, I think), so you've been warned.

  • @darkallegiance666 Yeah, I succumed to childish humor, as I was not reaching you otherwise. Funny, the first time you let your guard down was after a childish joke. Anywho, WHY do you insist on giving me orders, sir? I'm not even sure you realize you're doing it. If you read thru your comments, how many orders, direct commands from you to me are in them? See, I see life such that I have neither the right nor power to order anyone to do anything, and *neither do you*. On that we must me clear.

  • @FathomlessJoy My dear sir - I have made it abundantly clear that I order nobody but myself. I've re-read the comments & see no commands from me to you. Have you got issues of some sort? How could I possibly "command" you from Australia on the net & expect you to what? Follow my logic? Is that it? Are you used to always being agreed with & never challenged? Youtube must be a demeaning site for somebody like that. I certainly don't feel "under your power". This is bloody ridiculous.

  • @FathomlessJoy Urgent message: I missed both your response where you said sorry to me & made a rational observation, & a comment which somebody (not me) flagged as spam. This computer is far from perfect. The former comment I do appreciate & would have replied differently to. The latter was silly so I probably would have written a silly one back. In the words of CCR "Keep on Chooglin" my dear & please don't get upset over somebody thinking differently to yourself. Take care.

  • @FathomlessJoy Ran out of room. BUT if you do PM me about my private & personal belief system do not expect me to expect you to either believe me or to take me seriously. I push my "beliefs" onto nobody - not even the cats (especially not the cats who are, I'm sure, wiser than I am) & I do not expect to be believed or to have people understand my point of view or what I feel to be right for me. Also, what is right for me may not be right for another. I push "religion" onto nobody & never will.

  • @FathomlessJoy If people didn't fight in the wars that the politicians arrange then things might be a little better. Is this the world I want to live in? No. I want to go on to the next one, but in the meantime I'll make my life the best that it can be & live it the best that I can & this doesn't include rank materialism or buying into anybody's bullshit - including yours. If the BBC interviewed you when you were ready to eat what would you do? Bernays is unpleasant but you might be also.

  • @darkallegiance666 "Is this the world I want to live in? No. I want to go on to the next one." That seems delusional; can you tell me, please, about this "next world" with which you are familar? Or is that not a scheme to keep us subservient and subordinate in this life? Promise you reward and power in the next life, and I can keep you blindfolded and enslaved in this one....

  • @FathomlessJoy What are you? A total idiot? Self-opinionated & ludicrous!! I'm not keeping anybody subservient & subordinate, you fool. What is this fictional power I'm supposed to have? Your opinion of an after-life may disagree with mine but who gives a damn!! Who said I was "familiar" with where I might go after death? Do you want the whole story of my life, you opinionated humorless ratbag? I'm keeping nobody "blindfolded & enslaved" & I am not in an organised religion. Are you Mr. Know-All?

  • @darkallegiance666 "...you opinionated humorless ratbag" See that is my point: focus on the next life, which you claim you long for, and keep this behavior, your present life behavior (spewing hatred) from changing. Clearly I know you don't have any power. Perhaps I wasn't clear: it is the clergy, man's tradtition, the established order who have blinded and enslaved most people in this life. I was not saying you have any power to do that. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • @TagManpants Yes, exactly! And a powerful part of it was from the dissenters. The ones from the left would say, "I don't agree with XYZ but I still SUPPORT THE TROOPS." This helped bring everyone in line - 90% of American was in favor of the Iraq war, the day before it started. Clearly the left plays its part. It's time we see the truth of these things. We're not meant to be slaving away for Bank of America, Citi Mortgage, AT&T, Microsoft, Ford, Wal-mart, etc. The truth, truly, sets us free!

  • @FathomlessJoy By the way - a little fact, O Joyless Fathomer - reptiles don't keep stuffing themselves with "more, more, more". Reptiles are more sensible than humans & only eat what they need. Also, what did the poor tick ever do to you? Dared to drink some of your bitter blood? You should think a little harder about the names you call very old people - be a little more imaginative, perhaps. Why don't you just call him a "Human" & then you will have said it all in one word. You're laughable.

  • Stop voting, stop writing congress and stop doing all the things that keep this system going. Is time to say NO SIR.. NO THANK YOU! We don't want it anymore and we don't want you. Good by and good luck! The answer is simple and so much so we don't see it because we look for a complex solution! The only price is to give up are self enslaving luxuries. The reward is a real future for us, for humanity and our children! Time to take back our home called EARTH.. : )

  • Another fine piece of conditioning that has cut our ability to resist right out from underneath our feet: "Support the troops! Support the troops! Support the troops!". If that's not a conditioning mantra, what is?

  • We don't need iPad we want it.

  • @yaldram5 LoL

  • @luxstock It is that way.

  • @yaldram5 actually-it goes like this "WE WANTS IT,WE NEEDS IT...THEY HAVE IT!NOW WE WANTS IT!FILTHY LITTLE OTHERS,HOW DARE THEY HAVES IT WHILE WE DO NOT"

  • @yaldram5 Good, good join the site of consumers.

  • During Soviet invasion of Afghanistan the idea of jihad was socially acceptable. Today it is not.

I see the same connection as in case of making cigarettes socially acceptable for women.

  • "The Theory of Marginal Utility is The over production, where people have had enough and will stop buying.

  • Bernay biggest DH TO EVER TOUCH THE FACE OF THE PLANET people are still fighting over all the nonsense he created all these years later believe in love and freedom not fear and control for any person to control another man or woman is just wrong..

  • Freedom Torch - Like today's tea party version of "Man Up"

  • LOL, one of the guys being interviewed worked for Lehman Brothers.

  • its sad how many people are distracted watching tv shows or movies... then these logical real world documentaries. and thank you for putting this on youtube. spread the word!

  • Brave New World is right around the corner

  • @lebiew ur a little late

  • It's amazing how people are so easily influenced to the point that they spend their hard earned money based on emotions. "Sorry Kids, I'm not saving for your college tuition because if I don't buy the latest cell phone, clothes & car I'll feel like less of a "cool kid" in front of the neighbors & people at work ." I see this kind of mentality all the time, this is the mentality that trendy stores & malls rely on.

  • @supermrbastian I believe education is important only to a sudden level. But what if every aspect of our daily life is infiltrated? Dig more, and you will see that our edu system is screwed up also. I'm a living example: I can prove you that US is 2 years behind in education comparing to Vietnam.

  • @maze311 And yet education is the one thing today that is the first to have funding cut when governments have to cut spending. Education is knowledge, knowledge is power. They don't want you to have a brain because then they can't exist.

  • @CarnelT I don't think so. It's only a minor cut to freak ppl out: problems, reaction, solution. If you do a TINY search on Obama Education Plan, currently at 100 billion investment planning, he's planning on "enhancing" a wide range of "educational relations" to keep us "educated"

  • @maze311 I hope so but also keeping us educated doesn't mean we are getting the right kind of education. Teach basic accounting in primary and secondary schools. Subjects that teach how to manage money and that when you don't have any means you can't afford to buy.

  • @CarnelT I can't agree less. So my conclusion is: for me, I only need necessary education (such as basic accounting in primary and secondary schools as you said) or maybe higher, like finishing high school. But for myself, I won't go on to finish my college any more even though I have potential(which is against my parents' doctrines for me). Tbh, I havent paid a dime for past 4 yrs in college tuitions and they even give me 3k+/semester for use on my own pleasure. Peace.

  • @maze311 Are you serving in the military by any chance. Life I suppose is the best educator, that's what I think anyway. Wish you well in your studies. Happy holidays.

  • @CarnelT I don't serve any military hahaha. All I did was: being honor student in HS, and keep my GPA above 3.5 during college and full-time enrollment. I don't like babbling about these but just to be clear with you ^^.

  • @maze311 Well thank you for sharing that with me and you should feel proud of that achievement. I've come to discover later on in years the beauty of applying one's self in gaining as much knowledge you can of this world that we live in today, hoping that humanity wakes up and realizes that we are no longer going to be manipulated into thinking we don't have a brian to think for ourselves. Keep up the good work. Cheers

  • @CarnelT Exactly. My gf told me that, if I don't totally commit myself to finishing it, why should I waste my time... I told her I'm taking advantage of all that I can and allowed to to gain as much knowledge and experience as I can, it's NOT wasting time. In fact, ONLY thru HS and college in personal experience, I can see how ppl react to society, ideas, problems, etc and vice versa.

Be a leader for myself, not a follower. And that should apply to every1 :). Thanks, and cheers!

  • @maze311 I just saw a your video (Stop and Stare) very well done. I hope you don't mind I've put it on my facebook page. You captured the reality of what our men and women are going thru today fighting wars that have no meaning and they are the ones loosing their lives everday.

  • @CarnelT feel free to spread anything from my page ^^ Truth suppose to be free! Screws for Illuminati, Cheers for humanity!

  • @CarnelT The problem with our "education" is that it really is not education at all, is it? We are taught to conform and consume. We are taught to worship and pray (beg). We are taught how to assimilate and fit in with a sick society. We are told to shut up and buck up and accept the way it is. We are broken like horses, like animals in the churches and schools. May as well stop 100% funding for that RIGHT NOW!!!

  • what the hell is "spirituality"? i also have a problem understanding the positive connotations some people inforce to the quality of being "humane", like the human species could be considered somewhat superior to other animals.

  • What is pathetic is all the responses using the label of "evil." Therefore... I can safely assume that all of these people live in empty houses with NO PRODUCTS whatsoever, yes? Or no? Look around your house at what you've bought and what you use and if that stuff is "evil" then SO ARE YOU jackass because YOU bought it! On the other hand, if it is NOT "evil" then...

Ours is a spiritual AND material world. This marketing SERVES the customer, and that IS good! Grow up!

  • forget intellect, the who cigarette thing , both as a social custom and sales pitch is counter instictional..

fag= cigarette, our instint not intellect made us use fag as slur to gays. I understand rationally that smoking was a privilage for the elite, or high class, but my sub cries oral! love the penis!

  • either that were true and people stupid, or this is manipulation. I'ts one thing to manipulate the group by making they want what is forbiden, another to tell me that smoking is male. If it is a penis, then it represents a guy worshiping or pleasing masculinity. Letting a women some would be a symbol of oral, which can be used to degrade, but in this case admiring male ability. they use fag aka ciggarette, as a slur for gays?

  • over analysed Tosh !!!

  • If the masses wasn't attached to material things, a lot of jobs would dissapear and we would slip into a new depression.

  • @Splinta141 No we wouldn't because there are other ways one's life can be lived on this planet. You say that because you are programed to think that's the only way this world can exist. Consume, consume and consume. Maybe if our technology was used differently life on this earth would be a whole lot different.

  • watching this documentary makes me feel. dirty.

  • At 5:50 he describes, "There would come a point where people would have enough goods..." as a growing worry of american corporations.

That's clearly what's fucked up about this world.

  • pure evil

  • If Sigmund Freud were alive today, he'd be one of those guys who, for no apparent reason whatsoever, like to go to youtube comments and announce to the world, "I've got a boner!"

  • Combine Freuds Psychoanalysis with Skinner's Operant Conditioning and you have Our New World.....Consciousness is irrelevant . It's very popular to ignore Freud today. homosexuals hate him. Especially politicized ones. Especially politicians. Without a moral reference center you are lost.

  • The Jonas Brothers.

  • @anonforuz -haaa, haa...totally agree...and all the other flap and crap our corporate masters throw at us!

  • Its sad people are defending this type of unethical mass manipulation for the benefit of only those very few on the top of the human pyramid. People so attached to their material objects and are oblivious to the fact that our societies are dysfunctional; our environment is degrading and most important our humanity and spirituality is disappearing.

  • i couldnt have said it better myself.

  • @Unity4allhumans

Well, I can do without the spirituality, but the rest is sadly true.

  • @Unity4allhumans

Agreed. Mass change will only occur when we all can detach from our trivial things and realize their is something greater beyond ourselves; only until one can accept the mindset and willingness to forgo all things can they truly be prepared to perform altruistic humanist progression.

"Its sad people are defending this type of unethical mass manipulation for the benefit of only those very few on the top of the human pyramid.People so attached to their material objects and are oblivious to the fact that our societies are dysfunctional."

The thing is that no one can be manipulated for good reasons, reasons that we are supposed to do,that are kind a norm. so fuck communists

  • @Unity4allhumans yeah this guy and Freud were not Just guys who came out of the woodwork. They were illuminati shills who conducted experiements for mass control. It's bigger than just products. Just wanted to add that.

  • 0:50

  • it feels horrible that we have all been toys of the government

  • @moonshiry You can only be a toy if you let yourself.

  • The wallstreet assholes started it and it's gonna end

  • why does it have to end? We have more material than we need and it's making us feel good to buy more, wich in turn makes it cheaper to produce even more material. I see nothing bad in this since the rate of technlogical advances are moving at the same rate as our strive to spend money.

  • Think globally faggot

  • i am, and as long as i spend money on electronics there will be some advancement in whatever field i chose to spend my money on. we have a global gross production to feed both our needs and desires, so frankly i don't see whats bad about it. Imagen a world where the market would be governed by our needs only. We would have homes and food but no cellphones, no computers, no TV's and so on.

  • That's utter bullshit, so much I can't even explain it on youtube...

  • I've noticed that you can't explain it.

  • green: Yeah, i agree, it really feels good to buy gasoline nowadays, because the more we buy the cheaper it gets, right? And what about those starving people on the TV? Really, are they too lazy to go to the supermarket? Silly starving people.

  • I'd argue that gasoline is something we humans have wasted too much of, it's not really a capitalistic problem, it's a problem with human sense of morale. Starvation is a problem with industrialized countries ruining the local economies of third world countries and not giving them enough leeway or soft loans. Trust me, I'm a social democrat, I don't like the form of capitalism that the USA is propagating, but as long as the government regulates it I see no better alternatives. Give me one, Gorb.

  • Of course it is a capitalistic problem, we've built ourselves a nice heavy capitalistic platform and based it on the house of cards that is cheap oil. When one day, oil production can't keep up with demands, all the wonders of capitalism will be flushed down the toilet. On your other point, i was just imagining a world where we'd go after our needs and not our desires, and i think we'd be better off not wasting resources on cellphones and instead providing basic needs to people who need it.

  • And it made a crap load of money for the tobaco company.
