I'm not sure who is saying these guys are "emo" but it couldn't be further from the truth. Emo is indeed a genre. Nick Drake is practically the king of "emo" and Elliott Smith is another big emo artist. They're great, but it's totally different. To the people who are comparing these guys to The Ramones, not even close. You're saying that because their look is similar, not their sound. The Ramones had some good songs but they were horrible musicians.
Listen or look up 60's garage and you'll hear what inspires their sound. They do not rip it off they make their own work with the sound for their own and I love it.
I could make a list of garage punk bands that sound much like them ,but would not be sufficient 500 characters, I think their main influences (in their garage punk era ) are the musi machine, the fall, the monks, the birthday party, the gruesomes, the cramps , actually, joy division it's not original at all, they sounded like Can , Kraftwerk , with a motorik rythm, so stop criticizing.
JOSH'S SHOES =D aw josh at 2:37 n 2:39 n 2:10 ........n in genaral =P luv spider at 3:53 lol i sound like a stalker i just wanted to use numbers coz other ppl do....but i got a bit carried away =/
This was an early song they did, pre-strange house and obviously didnt make the cut for the album. Dont know how we've managed to get access to it. There are a couple of other songs like this.
Everything else was on an album/ep or b side. Except "Whole Ney Way" which was a stand alone single
I want this song so much but its not working on my computer arghhh this song is so great i have to get this on vinyl!! i cant wait till i get my new record player!!!
I love the whole effect, it was something I needed to hear that was new in 2007-08. I think these guys are brilliant. I really danced a storm for this song when I saw 'em live.
Wow. I found this by searching "I'm lonely", I know, I'm a loser. Good band, though. Glad I'm feeling like shit or else I wouldn't have found them? Lol.
@billytalentfanp Actually, their style is heavily based on/a rip off of Garage punk from the 90's. Look up bands like The Undertakers and the Mummies. A much dirtier version of much the same.
Jack The Ripper, in particular, is a cover of an old garage song. x
@anarchoandpeace When I posted this video I didn't really know a lot about them. I started listening to their influences, all kinds of genres, 40's, 60's, 70's, 90's... When I went to London I visited the places, shops etc. where they hang around. And I realized they are a mix of 5 guys who like different types of music.
Yes I am. But I'm not wrong. Sound is the most important aspect of music. Or do you like the Horrors because of the nice, tight trousers and big hair?
@MDRS05 In all honesty I too dislike emotive hardcore, and new pop emotive but that was a bit childish of a statement. They obviously OBVIOUSLY have a post-punk/garage/grunge sound. Joy Division meets the Strokes meets Bauhaus with a super keyboard overload.
Who cares what the genre is in the first place? If you like it, you like it
