Fair use applies only to quotations and excerpts (reviews, news reports, incidental appearances in media) and has to be justifiable and as minimal as possible. Fair use is there to protect free speech, not use as a loophole for profiting by infringing the rights of authors.

@pokemoneinstein Technically (by US law) posting remixes without permission is illegal regardless whether it's for profit. Most authors will overlook remixes/fan-art because it's free promotion - they hope the exposure retains & brings in new consumers. However, legally you still need permission to distribute any kind of performance or derivative work. Fair use is limited use for free speech. Also, remember that YT is not 'not-for-profit'. I may not be profiting from my videos here but YT is.

@dummeh That's a shame, because you always do such an amazing job at arranging these pieces. Since you can't do your orchestated versions of songs, you should sell/give sheet music for your original pieces. I'm sure they must be of similar quality to your rearrangements.

@IvanLam6 Thanks, glad you liked it. I just arrange this stuff for fun in my spare time (normally because I like the game music, or sometimes to test out sample libraries I'm working on). They just sit here on YouTube for everyone to enjoy.

Before that I worked on APB at Realtime Worlds, and before that on The Battlefield/Burnout/Lego series at Electronic Arts. I also develop indie games myself and I'm working on a couple right now.

Azalea Town/Blackthorn City themes from Pokemon Gold/Silver.

Evil Lurks from Pokemon Blue/Red

And, one of the most atmospheric, Lost Dungeon from Dragon Warrior Monsters on GBC.
