I just noticed when I tried palm muting that I maybe not bought the right guitar for beginning. My guitar has a floyd rose bridge (not fixed) and ti's really hard to do. Looking for some video.
BTW. it will be impossible to hold my hand like this on my new 7 string guitar. My middle finger is not enough long to put it behind 1st string. Anyway, I use closed pick grab (all fingers are bent like index finger), but I still have problem with palm muting, because 1st string is making noise.
I have a BIG problem when I do palm muting: when I'm palm muting 6th string, my right hand's fingers (from middle to pinky) start hitting 1st and 2nd string, which sounds bad when recording a song! How to overcome this problem? Any advice is appreciated!
lol 5k views and 5 comments (6 now lol) anyway, i need to palm mute by tomorrow evening!!! this videa helped tho, especially the alternating, its whats use din paranoid by black sabbeth, the song im playing :P
heh the only thing you really need if your playing metal is med setting all the way down to 0-3 depending on how loud you want it treble and bass you can do whatever with and make sure gain is high and if you need it overdrive the amp.
I don't have a mid knob, instead I have a "contour" knob that makes it sound denser, almost like a second bass knob. If I turn the gain above 3, I get this really bad string noise virtually every time I let go of a string.
@uofm97 wow you have a weird amp all the nooby amps have mid, lul play around with contour it might be mid but another word for it. remember treble is the high sounds mid is the middle sounds and bass is the low sounds change things around and see if its mid from your description of it it sounds like mid
I have a Marshall Valvestate VS30R. If I turn that Contour down to zero, it gives me a looser sound that makes solo-playing really stand out and allows me to play thrashy stuff better. As I turn it up, it gets thicker and the higher strings don't respond as prominently. It sounds best at 5, a better balance I guess. Maybe it is a Mid knob labeled something weird for sme reason. I bought it from a pawn shop 5 years ago because the Marshall Master Reverb 30 I had before THAT wasn't that great.
what type of les paul is that?

@BlackBeThyName He meant gauge wise... Which to me as well, looks a little too light to be an E.

I get that annoying "boing-boing" sound when I palm-mute too, and can't figure out why. I'm thinking maybe I don't have the amp settings right.
