This is sounds fucking great and just like Soundgarden. Their all performing such difficult notes and etc to create a masterpiece! But thats them, Soundgardem gives it there all :) and i love them. Also, Matt is fucking beast on drums!
This totally shreds... his voice is so insane! I challenge any critic who says he's lost it or that there is alot of AMERICAN IDOL singers can do exactly what he does... well then run around onstage, play guitar, sing like a maniac and have adrenaline at a high rate and breathe properly. That's all you have to do to sound like Chris Cornell... right?
@CrumpledMount Why VERY surprised? They're Soundgarden, for fuck's sake! They're always tight. "Loosely or tightly, everything fits" with Soundgarden.
Chris is sounding pretty good here. This was the first album of theirs I owned, and I didn't really know what to think about it the first few times I heard it because it was so different and more interesting than anything I had listened to before. Great album, and I can still listen to it several years later and find new things to enjoy. Totally in Overfloater right now, and Burden In My Hand is fantastic.
AWESOME version! WOW, cant believe how good Chris sounds in this live version. His sings tough on the record, so you know....live versions arent usually that great. This is nice!
fwiw i'm a 42yo classically trained pianist, but also play bass in a grungy band and own a norma jean cd, and my first comment was 3 months old. watch it.....
Bollocks still in pretty good shape, thanks! I'll try and track down Mr Thayil to settle this once and for all. Bach wrote a tune in the early 18th called Joy Of My Soul which was in 9/8, also Three Times A Lady / Commodores, hope this helps.
Yeah it was nice to see this one done live too. There are a couple of odd tracks on that album that you don't hear so much of. An Unkind is another...
Definitely 5/4, the first beat is kind of advanced by half a beat just to confuse us smart asses! My grungy garage trio is going through a math phase at the moment.
what a voice!cornell is so fucking great, the best singer ever without any doubt.even though he has been having some troubles with his voice he´s singing so good nowadays.i saw him in december and his voice is intact.
haha, ims orry dude. but Kim Thayil doesn't play a Gibson SG. it's a Guild S-100, and no. that does not make me a nerd that i know that. that makes me a fan. lol. =)
ya it can sound like like your struggling but if you see him sing he does thing thing with his mouth that helps. i know that sounds weird. he opens his throat but kinda closes his mouth.
I have an SG, they're killer. Thayil never used one though, he used a Guild S100 Polara in black, red and white. Real rockers know the difference between a Gibson and a Guild.
What is cool is that Thayil is playing heavy tunes with a fender and you NEVER see people playing fenders on heavy tunes. Thats how good these guys were.
Check out Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and, of course, Audioslave, who uses a Telecaster quite a bit. Jimmy Page recorded the entirety of LZ1 on a Tele. Loads of people use the humbucker-equipped Jazzmaster for heavy tunes - check out Feeder, for example.
Agreed. This is a very hard song to play, especially the way he is playing it. Everybody talks about how good Danny Carey is in odd time, but Matt remains widely underrated.
This is the best version I could ever imagine of a song I never thought I'd see. Now, if you could find a version of Rhinosaur, then I crown thee king.
I think that Kim Thayil wanted to write a HARD song

Oh.
Im mexican, so obviously im not familiar with argentinian slang.
But chris didnt ruin the song at all. Its as good as the album version, if not better.
So i went for the obvious option
Anyways
Gracias por lograr tu punto con decencia y sin insultos

i wish they could've explored this more technical, frenetic style further.
Forever means all is not seen
Never means forever brings everything
I fashion will and desire
Always I and I survive
Mercurial mind the fire
Ferrivorous direction and drive
not too shabby, chris.

What the fuck is Thayil doing playing a Fender. Stick to the SG a real rock guitar. Real rockers play Gibsons.
