You gotta feel for Fantasy, though. Where are you supposed to put your goliaths on this map, when your third is BEHIND your main? You can't NOT have them "out of position".
@arenalt Jangbi's third was also behind his main, in that his main was between his third and his opponent. This is a fine way to take a third when playing with carriers, however, since the Terran mech push is relatively immobile and harder to reinforce, Terrans usually need to expand towards their opponent in TvP, which is difficult on this map. Not that I'm too worried about it, as a Khan fan :P.
@SnowflakePillow if Fantasy played normally, he would have taken the 6 o' clock base and set up the mech line in front of it.. you can expand towards your opponent but it's not actually standard though? not sure why you would get that impression. Anyway this and the other pathfinder game were just bizarre from the start due to Fantasy's strategy; the push was supposed to end the game.
People compare a game that has had over 10 years for a metagame to develop to a game that hasn't got a single expansion pack out, and has only been out for approximately a year and a half.
Grow the fuck up everyone, just play the game you enjoy.

this was fantasy's game to win but he fucked up big time. he was ahead in supply, had the toss contained, prevented mining at the toss's natural but still lost? it was effectively 2 base terran vs 1 base toss. fantasy is so shit sometimes.
jangbi sniped flash and fantasy. thats cause he was out of the pro league playoff long time ago. thats why he got a lot of time to prepare strategies. especially on pathfinder. in the mean time, fantasy and flash was preparing for proleague final, which is way more important. and jangbi didnt 2-0 flash or 3-0 fantasy. he barely got through with some luck. will we see jangbi again next individual league? i doubt that.
Also this is why BW is the best RTS ever made. Period. So much skill is involved in it. I play SC2 and it's kind of sad that any dipshit can win with 1A 2A 3A tactics, and the majority of the time it's just 1A since everything can be hotkeyed on one button.
Honestly I think I'm going to play BW for a couple of weeks. I really feel that it will make me a better player overall just by being the more difficult game.

SC2 has several incarnations and patches to go to. @IsTheRoomOnFire BW had many patches? There were a total of 3 balance patches for BW. Patch 1.04, 1.05, and 1.08. I guess, you can argue that BW in itself is one big balance patch, which it is. But SC2 has gone through more changes than BW ever did already

Before I start, I'm a SC2 player with very little background in SC:BW. My only exposure to professional video gaming before SC2 is WC3 which still was limited. But honestly, who couldn't enjoy this finals? Since I've started watching BW (about a year ago) Fantasy is my favorite player, and he lost, and I still loved the whole finals. This whole SC2/BW debate is silly: forget your quarrels, love your E-Sports brother, and just look at all the emotion drenching everyone; isn't it all so wonderful?

@Taiki1234 Forget balance, the point I was trying to make about what IdrA said still stands. He claimed that playing Terran properly requires the Terran to take risks which either will repay them in the end or cause them to lose. Players like Flash well because they take calculated risks. The point I was trying to make about this statement is the fact that there is luck in BW even if BW players claim that there is not. SC2 does not have as developed of a metagame, so more luck is involved.
@iaiceikiingi47i I'll just say that what was a risk for Idra when he played BW, is no risk for any of the A-class Terran players. It honestly makes me think that he's never seen Flash turtle, but that's ridiculous.
I'll reference Flash vs Light at Match Point 2010 (Shinhan Bank Winners League ) with regards to your comment on luck. When I see that game I actually doubt that luck exsist at the highest levels of play in Broodwar.
@Taiki1234 I think the majority of luck comes on maps with 3-4 spawns, regarding how/where you spawn in relation to your opponent, which scouting direction you choose, ect. But even then, there is some luck involved. If you go CC first and your opponent 4 pools, then there is a pretty good chance that you will lose because they took a gamble and you took a gamble. Skill makes up a lot of games, but to say that luck is not a factor at all is pretty ridiculous.
Just out of curiousity, do you guys think Brood War maps seem a little larger to SC2 ones? To me, part of what makes BW so fun is all the miniskirmishes and multi-tasking of small units. Also the effectively more bases since each base needs less workers... Who knows... if SC2 maps evolve and somehow we can increase overall caps or something like that... Anyway, good series from both players.

Someone explain to me why he didn't use the wraiths before it was too late. I have a little suspicion that the game was fixed. Maybe protoss was to win here because every final virtually had been either zvz or tvz. I thought fantasy sat back way too long with those wraiths when he could use them while he still had scans
@arbitersatlast Jangbi had like 5+ observers following around and his carriers were accompanied by dragoons even before fantasy gathered enough wraiths. You have to define what "too late" really means, be specific. Why do you think that this game was fixed anyway? Do you honestly think the champion from the last OSL would want to deliberately throw away a game like this for a couple of bucks? The prize money for 1st place is far greater than the money that you can earn for fixing a match.
@arbitersatlast I kind of agree... seems that he really needed to make a stand earlier even if it's not really ideal. But the dragoons and obs were almost always close by supporting... so it's a hard position either way.
From about 12:50 to 21:15, Fantasy is almost always with 500+ minerals/gas in the bank

Also, 21 minutes into the game, and he is only 1-1. Sure, he went for the early contain, but he could have clearly went for the Double Armory with the income he had.
I say it was fixed as a joke. Because Fantasy could have just chilled out and macroed when he got contain. It took like 6-7 minutes for JangBi to break out. No excuse for Fantasy.
@Demolasha He was experimenting a lot of interesting things before the tournament. Especially with carriers and reavers, at least the games I've watched... I guess it paid off in the end.

@gustavohmp you don't know star as well as others. did you even see the factories at fanta? There were just 4 of them and jangbi destroyed one so just 3. And barrack was also destroyed so fanta couldn't build fac. He kep 3 factories for few minutes. The fact that he built 2 barracks after that proves he was in panic.
@gustavohmp i wouldn't say it's fixed, but you do bring up a good point. i was wondering how fantasy didn't have more units w/ 2 base whilst harassing jangbi. i was quite sure even though jangbi cleared that early push, fantasy was still up because running 2 bases.
sure enough on review, he had like 1000mineral + gas for a good chunk of crucial time... i think he just choked, big time! oh well, good game nonetheless~
@Jackoo Fantasy didn't even look crushed after missing out his 2nd OSL win. He probably got paid to throw the match so that Jangbi's victory can revive Broodwar. Given Broodwar's matchfixing history with Savior+Luxury I won't be surprised that Jangbi's victory was staged.

@iaiceikiingi47i There is a reason why the whole cast in State of the Game (except JP, who doesn't have a BW background) started laughing when IdrA said that Terran was the weakest race, AND laughed even more when he said that protoss was the strongest.
IdrA played Terran in BW and Zerg in SC2
In BW - Terran UP, protoss OP
In SC 2 - Zerg UP, protoss OP - I think I see a patteren...
There is no doubt that Terran is the most successful race in BW, feel free to look up statistics.

@Taiki1234 Forget balance, the point I was trying to make about what IdrA said still stands. He claimed that playing Terran properly requires the Terran to take risks which either will repay them in the end or cause them to lose. Players like Flash well because they take calculated risks. The point I was trying to make about this statement is the fact that there is luck in BW even if BW players claim that there is not. SC2 does not have as developed of a metagame, so more luck is involved.

@iaiceikiingi47i I'll just say that what was a risk for Idra when he played BW, is no risk for any of the A-class Terran players. It honestly makes me think that he's never seen Flash turtle, but that's ridiculous.
I'll reference Flash vs Light at Match Point 2010 (Shinhan Bank Winners League ) with regards to your comment on luck. When I see that game I actually doubt that luck exsist at the highest levels of play in Broodwar.

@Taiki1234 I think the majority of luck comes on maps with 3-4 spawns, regarding how/where you spawn in relation to your opponent, which scouting direction you choose, ect. But even then, there is some luck involved. If you go CC first and your opponent 4 pools, then there is a pretty good chance that you will lose because they took a gamble and you took a gamble. Skill makes up a lot of games, but to say that luck is not a factor at all is pretty ridiculous.

Just out of curiousity, do you guys think Brood War maps seem a little larger to SC2 ones? To me, part of what makes BW so fun is all the miniskirmishes and multi-tasking of small units. Also the effectively more bases since each base needs less workers... Who knows... if SC2 maps evolve and somehow we can increase overall caps or something like that... Anyway, good series from both players.

Someone explain to me why he didn't use the wraiths before it was too late. I have a little suspicion that the game was fixed. Maybe protoss was to win here because every final virtually had been either zvz or tvz. I thought fantasy sat back way too long with those wraiths when he could use them while he still had scans

@arbitersatlast Jangbi had like 5+ observers following around and his carriers were accompanied by dragoons even before fantasy gathered enough wraiths. You have to define what "too late" really means, be specific. Why do you think that this game was fixed anyway? Do you honestly think the champion from the last OSL would want to deliberately throw away a game like this for a couple of bucks? The prize money for 1st place is far greater than the money that you can earn for fixing a match.

From about 12:50 to 21:15, Fantasy is almost always with 500+ minerals/gas in the bank
He could support at least 5 facts with it.
Also, 21 minutes into the game, and he is only 1-1. Sure, he went for the early contain, but he could have clearly went for the Double Armory with the income he had.
I say it was fixed as a joke. Because Fantasy could have just chilled out and macroed when he got contain. It took like 6-7 minutes for JangBi to break out. No excuse for Fantasy.

@gustavohmp you don't know star as well as others. did you even see the factories at fanta? There were just 4 of them and jangbi destroyed one so just 3. And barrack was also destroyed so fanta couldn't build fac. He kep 3 factories for few minutes. The fact that he built 2 barracks after that proves he was in panic.

@gustavohmp i wouldn't say it's fixed, but you do bring up a good point. i was wondering how fantasy didn't have more units w/ 2 base whilst harassing jangbi. i was quite sure even though jangbi cleared that early push, fantasy was still up because running 2 bases.
sure enough on review, he had like 1000mineral + gas for a good chunk of crucial time... i think he just choked, big time! oh well, good game nonetheless~

@Jackoo Fantasy didn't even look crushed after missing out his 2nd OSL win. He probably got paid to throw the match so that Jangbi's victory can revive Broodwar. Given Broodwar's matchfixing history with Savior+Luxury I won't be surprised that Jangbi's victory was staged.
