Chinese free Tibet people from slavery and poverty just like American/British free Iraq. Tibet is part of China. Any issues can be resolved by dialogue not by riot. But, if Tibetian choose to use violance to break a peaceful society, take a look at how American treat Iraq insurgents.

It is very clear who provoked the unrest. The Chinese government doesn't want the unrest, especially in 2008 where the Olympic takes place. I see somebody is trying to find excuses for the violent nature of the unrest, that means he knows who started the unrest. If he is brave enough, he would also admit who instigated the unrest. And those who instigated the unrest, are responsible for the lost of human lives. For those who take the dispute to the street, I advice them to think deeper,

Not only Tibet but also Inner Mongolia and Turkestân are occupied. The Chinese have removed the original inhabitants of Inner Mongolia from their grasslands into flats using the threat of desertification as an excuse, inthe mean while they giving these grasslands to Chinese farmers! The Islamic Dongxiang Mongols of Gansu province have have a hard time, but traveling to their habitat is restricted for the Chinese don't want peeping eyes. China has the highest rate of executions in the world!

We don't necessarily condone what out country has done in the past, and yes, what happened to Native Americans during colonization and Manifest Destiny was horrible. This does not mean that it is not, by any definition of the word, evil to "get down" on China for their aggregeous human rights violations. Don't you dare accuse anyone of being evil for condoning that.
By the way, Hawaii, Alaska, and Texas are not currently seeking independence, nor have they for MANY years.

They also have their own spiritual leader Dalai Lama whom Chinese government doesn't allow to enter any part of China and Tibet.

Tibetans, themselves, have right to see, to determine, and to make what's good or bad.
If China wants to govern Tibet to make "One-United Han Dynasty" or "to help and develop the country", then what is China so different from Japan taking over all the Asia countries during WWII and not appologizing b/c its purpose was for the common good and to develope all the Asia countries...Well, of course, we all know it wasn't truth and deceptive.

My friends went to Tibet last year. But it looks that Tibetian people benefit from part of China ,Chinese government gives tremendous subsidies and keep local economy strong. obvisouly Tibet now is experiening one of most prosperous time in the history.
So if you want to know the truth of Tibet, before out of street for demostrate, go there first.

I know this will happen, because as the 2008Olympic approaches the Chinese government is in difficult situation. So it's a ideal timing to creat an event. But please keep in mind it's nothing to do with Chinese government. It's Dalai Lama that stimulates. I hope the Canadian government thinking clearly and wisely. We don't want people poking their nose into our Quebec problem. Use our influence, tell Dalai to stop it. In fact, without the Western countries' support, Dalai can't do nothing.
