  • Anybody know the chord progression of this song?

  • Good news for Mazzy fans! A brand new studio single's being released by Oct. 31, 2011, 1st official recording in 15+ years (what a long wait, what took them so long?)!

It's not a rumour, it's been announced on Hope's official site & on Amazon, where the digital version will be released. Let's hope a full album & world tour are on the way soon too!

  • @Bobjb999 is it true?? i hope so im excited!

  • @quebienchingasmecae Yes. Both new Mazzy songs are now up at YT. Search: "Common Burn", & "Lay Myself Down". Plus a new album & tour are expected in 2012!

  • @Bobjb999 im so happy with this new! thank you so much, i hope mazzy comes to Mexico next year! im going to search the tour

  • @Bobjb999 May he wanted her to represent them ? Like Tarja Turunen for Nightwish... She was only the leader vocals, and represented the band... but its Tuomas Holopainen the brain of the band.

  • sto facendo l amore con lei.... ; )I am making the love with she!

  • I love Mazzy Star, although I would not recommend them if you are feeling suicidal.

  • Such a fine, sublime song. The video images are so gothically-beautiful at times!

  • I agree with Bobjb999. David began forming this sound with Opal. Opal had a different singer and released an album before Hope came along. Don't get me wrong. Hope is great but props to David! If you like Mazzy Star, check out Opal and you can hear the roots of this sound. My favorite Opal tracks are "Happy Nightmare Baby" and "Supernova".

  • b e a u t i f u l .

  • her voice is haunting cant belive i missed this in the 90s

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • Love everything about this band, just wish I'd discovered them back in the 90's... How I missed 'em I don't know. Only been klistening to them for about six months. So hooked I might seek help

  • love but can't find the song i want, doesn't help that i can't remember the name... doh..if you like em check out stheno & euryale - join the party :)

  • Mazzy Star, where have you been all my life? ^.^

  • there best track ever!!! simple, melodic, dreamy, haunting, nothing but good...

  • melhor te ma e visto

  • LOVE IT....

  • @BlueShoues That is a beautiful memory =)

  • Noone's gunna like this, but i've always thought her harmonic was too loud on this and that it goes on for too long.

  • @dammbleth2 your entitled to your own opinion, wrong as it may be :))

  • @dammbleth2 There are 1,859 likes vs. 28 dislikes that say you are wrong. It's okay if it's not your thing, but a lot of people do like this... if not absolutely love :)

  • mazzy star are nothing but good...simple,beautiful,haunting,and clever....help me, help u, help me...straight heaven no doubt about it........

  • Mazzy's as beautiful as the sound of the waves. We love you, honey

  • @sunkissedB her name is Hope, not Mazzy.

  • Cleverbot sent me here...

  • I've just burned and erased every picture that reminded me of my first love on this song.

A perfect way to say "goodbye" peacefully, especially when you can relate to the lyrics.

  • I love the harmonica in this song.

  • My son turned me onto this group and said this was his favorite and said "I think you'll like this one Dad." And handed me a cassette of their tape. He passed away last year

  • @BlueShoues so sorry for your lose, its a beautiful song i have always loved it very much..... your son had very good taste in music <3

  • @BlueShoues ....Peace & love ....I pray they'll come your way.

  • @BlueShoues Had to be the saddest comment I ever read on yt... :((

    May Angels be with him!

  • @BlueShoues I'm sorry for your loss. I hope Mazzy Star's music will mend your broken heart.

  • @BlueShoues I'm glad you two had things like this to share.

  • @BlueShoues

Bless u, Mazzy Star's track 'give u my lovin' was mine and my husbansds wedding song 04/04/08. I've just had it played at his funeral last week. My thoughts are with u x x x

  • @traceypuddinpie Nice to have those connecting memories. Sorry for your loss, blessings to you and your family.

  • @BlueShoues I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.I have been a fan of Mazzy since the 90's. Her music seems to hit or miss others. For me, I have certain songs that represent parts of my life and I can always "go back" when I listen. Your son has good taste in music. Godspeed.

  • @BlueShoues RIP

  • @BlueShoues Oh God..I am so sorry for your loss.....xo

  • @BlueShoues

Hi, just wanted to say how sorry I am about your son. I've loved Mazzy Star since I was pregnant with my second son (used to listen to her for hours on end while relaxing in the bath). Haven't heard this song for years, but stumbled upon it again and combined with your comments, the tears are now flowing. My two sons are now grown up (20 and 17) but I still worry about them and love them so much.

  • @BlueShoues I wish I could hug you <3

  • @BlueShoues i'm sorry...

  • @BlueShoues

I'm so sorry..he will be in a good place for shure!!

    A big hug.

  • @BlueShoues im really sorry for you..but im sure from where he is now is watching upon you. bless you and your family.

  • @BlueShoues What's your point?

  • alot of mazzy star's music was great for me for:

    drinking and feeling down.

smoking a joint in or near the car in a forest (with or without friends) and feeling okay.

sitting alone in the car somewhere between the city and country, thinking of some girl that i was missing back then, who probably doesnt remember me one bit all these years later.

  • inception anyone????

  • love it so much, i hear it in the movie "Wicker Park" and at the ending i hear The Sencinist"... two great songs! in one Good movie

  • bravo hope

  • I've listened to this song a thousand times

and it always feels like a guilt-trip.

    I love this song.

  • awesome :) magic :) godlike :) this song make me cry but i had never feel better with any song before :P sry 4 bad english... from germany :)

  • Beautiful song, but I am a pushover for the harmonica regardless...

  • Irish singers have the best songs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Enya's Irish right?

  • Esta canção é linda!

  • Brilliant stuff!! If u like this check out danish act INOUWEE with the song "YOU"

  • Mazzy Star was GREAT band.

    1 of my favorite.

  • this is a beautiful song..! I love it..!!! so much..!!

  • god damn this song sounds so good!

  • thank god ill never meet the voice behind theses songs.....would be like meeting bhudda and hoping he/she was fat.....and if they werent.......x cues my spelling...that would be wierd.......x

  • I miss you, Savannah.

  • First, I love the 3 Mazzy Star albums, especially the 1st one. But one song Hope does that hits me in the chest with life & death... Into Dust... if there was one song to play for my funeral, its that one....

  • @leavinghope1970 Anthony Kiedis agrees with you re. "Into Dust". He even wrote a song the Chili Peppers recorded in '95 "Aeroplane" about the strong effect Hope's singing & in particular the song "Into Dust" has on him. I like it too, but it's so chilling I can only listen occasionally. A journalist suggested some songs on the 2nd Mazzy album document Hope's & David's romantic estrangement. If so, "Into Dust" may be one of them (imo, it's more about a breakup/estrangement than physical death).

  • Hope has the most beautiful voice i've ever heard! i like listening to her while i'm trying to sleep,it's so relaxing!

  • How can you dislike this song much less anything by Mazzy Star? ...unbelievable

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know has ever noticed this, but if you listen to Victoria Bergman of The Concretes and Taken By Trees, her voice is almost as heartbreaking (and beautiful) as Hope's.

  • so much beauty :)

  • There's a YT video I came across of a little dog who howls/ "sings" along while Mazzy's Flowers in December is playing! It's entitled:

"Cute and Funny Dog Singing to Mazzy Star" . Goofy entertainment!

  • I admit it Mazzy star is on my top 10! Lol

  • Great song!! Check out danish act Inouwee with the song "In every mirror" if you like this.

  • I met Hope when she came to my town, just to make eye contact with her, told me all the words I needed to know, her words tell the tale of love.....it describes my wife.....who i lost.......and our relationship and mirrors us and i'm not emo....i love punk rock....but this....hits my soul so damn hard.....it feels good to stop and reflect on what life is really about or means for us, what is real for all of us, not many songs or people who make music do that for me, Hope does it for me.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm an old punk from way back who is smitten by all of this. Thank you for embodying what I feel when I decompress- or when I want to, this is what I want my soundtrack to be. Please make me cry one more time. Aloha- Tobylifehater.

  • @deadseattle YES!! haahah exactly....

  • reminds me of redemption song but still great!

  • Imagine the good fortune of Hope's Irish boyfriend Colm. He not only gets to write songs with her, she's his resident songstress in their living room! And I'm picturing Hope softly singing to him during foreplay...Lucky Colm must be in Heaven!

  • @Bobjb999 who is Colm?? whats his story i didnt know she was dating....The Irish and Mexican always get along good...i bet they have fun too, musically and more

  • @htownlithium Colm O'Ciosoig & Hope have been together many years (10+?). He co-writes some songs with her & is drummer in her Warm Inventions band. He was drummer in the band My Bloody Valentine too. They live in San Francisco, & might be married by now. I see a tell-tale ring on Hope's left hand ring finger in the YT video of Hope live in Dublin singing "Golden Hair" in 2010. Prior to Colm, she lived with The Jesus & Mary Chain's William Reid for some years in the '90s.

  • @Bobjb999 thanks, i have been behind in my Hope fanatic ways...appreciate the info!

  • First time I listend Mazzy Star a few weeks ago. It makes a deep impression for me. The voice of Hope Sandoval is unforgetable, the music and instrumentation really wonderfull. Thank you very much

  • I really do love Mazzy Star!. Pure bliss!!:)

  • Comment removed

  • gusiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, lovin uuuuuuuuuu

  • agree about Dave R...collaboration is what really makes Mazzy

  • the harmonica's so lovely in this song <3

  • i have never heard this before but i really like it

  • got to love the harmonica at the beginning.....More Than Words by Extreme style

  • everyone should listen to Beach House, if you like this music, especially their first album!

  • luv how youtube cut thee bandwidth back thank you bout time....

  • Wow pure 90's. Back when music was made to last longer than a few months.

  • Poor David Roback,he gets no respect! He's co-writes Mazzy's music with Hope &plays some nice guitar&is band leader, but not front person. If he ever reads comments at YT under Mazzy videos he'll see few if any comments acknowledge him or his contribution, including mine -until this post! Most people, including me,are so beguiled&smitten by Hope, her emotive, sensual voice, melodies&words, that poor David gets forgotten! But arguably,Mazzy is better than Hope S.&the Warm Inventions,'cause of David.

  • @Bobjb999

problem is i think the warm inventions and mazzy star are as good as each other

  • @cinedores Well, since writing my message now enshrined in the "Highest Rated Comments" section, saying in part that Mazzy's better than Hope & her new band, I've since changed my mind on that point, & now agree with you. I've come to appreciate Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions as equal to Mazzy.I think Hope's singing's better than ever now, with even more subtlety & nuance.David does deserve more credit , & I miss some of his touches, including his slide guitar & Mazzy's "rootsy" songs.

  • @Bobjb999

agreed it would be great to get another mazzy star record

  • @Bobjb999

You must be kidding, hope is mazzy always .

  • @Bobjb999 I agree. I enjoy the voice, but if it wasnt for the dreamlike washover of guitar sounds performed by david it wouldnt appeal to me.

  • @inthetearoom soooo racist you reek.

  • @glenneveaux you're obviously trolling because i have no idea why you think my comment is racist.

  • @Bobjb999 word son, word.

  • HOPE AND DAVE WERE A GOOD COUPLE DOING GOOD MUSIC BUT HOPE NOW IS PLAYING WITH WARM INVENTIONS AND SHE IS DOING GOOD MUSIC SO SHE IS THE BEST TO ME AFTER ALL

  • nothing like...a rainy day to lay around and listen to mazzy star

  • Still got hope.

  • i dont like mazzy i love mazzy

  • Ghost Girl

  • please make more music

  • Hope's voice carries a narcotic element of tranquility and peace. It is the simple nature of the music that adds an intoxicating feeling to the music. It is in simplicity that we find the greatest joy in life.

  • quite simply one of my favourite songs of the 90s. so evocative. great memories. thanks so much for posting.

  • Beauty song....thx Mazzy

  • Hope steals my heart with every song she sings...

  • absolutely love her voice

  • Great band, but i think they were a little too late on the scene. the dream pop style was very much a thing of the 80's, and they didn't really take off until their second record in 1993, when grunge and trip-hop dominated the airwaves.

There was a market for sad, mellow psych-folk-rock with female vocals, it just wasn't in the mainstream.

another great band from the 90's was Love Spirals Downwards.

  • When William Reid is lying on his death bed, he can smile that he once went out with this beautiful woman. Lucky bastard.

  • I love Mazzy star so much. Hope Sandovall has such a pretty voice with that creepish darkish setting to. Love the imagery in this video. Mazzy Star is amazing! :)

  • Any good woman s song. Why can't I hve a woman like this? Grandfather... I am really confused and the flight of Running Bear is upon me. I am listening but the wind has got the Bear. Hold on. Hold on free.....................

  • 4:03 whatd id do to see those eyes everyday looking back at me x)

  • I could watch this video and listen to this song a million times. This is greatness! Thank you for sharing it.

  • This song is so melancholic to me, yet so beautiful. The harmonica part gives it a perfect touch!

  • i love this song. just pure good sound, for those nights where silence isnt so bad

  • i cant believe that im barely listening to this chick. im over here saying "where the fuck have i been?!"

  • It's so personal.....a bitter sweet...<3 it :)

  • i love her hippy music :))

  • Great song!! If you like this check out the band INOUWEE with the song "In every mirror"

  • Makes perfect sense to me!!!

  • Yes it doesn Sunshnlvr

  • I havn't heard this song for about 10 years. I had forgotten how much I love it! :)

  • this song always makes me cry! :(

  • in my opinion best voice ever. Never heard one more pure and ethereal.

  • BELLOOOOOO WOW , CHICA,,

  • Hope Sandoval has the perfect voice to steal to heart of many male listening.Listening to this it's a pleasure to be stolen from.True real music intellgently coming from the heart & soul not the commerical pap we are continously beeing force fed.

  • if anyone mentions taylor swift...your throat will be slit...let mazzy star live in your hearts....

  • Mazzy were always one on their own, music like theirs was a refreshing tonic to the artificial 1980s...the 90's was a class decade for roots and rock music, but there will always be great music on the fringes, not that there will ever be another Mazzy....

  • makes total sense to another musician with no fake boobs and a desire to play beautiful, fierce, non lady-gaga music. mazzy star rocked my harsh little world for a long time and made it more livable. they were lovely...

  • WICKER PARK! <3 LOVE THIS SONG

  • I definatly agree with the way music is today this is such a soulful melody! Miss those real true love days, it will never be the same again sadly to say!

  • One of my favs by her...quite sad.

  • People no longer are fans of music.

Instead the join a lifestyle cult with a "musician" heading it up.

  • I am fascinated by this song. It's Hope Sandoval's voice on top of acoustic instruments, what you'd typically associate with folk music, yet it somehow sounds psychedelic... despite having none of the instrumentation typically associated with psych-rock or shoe-gazer. It defies analysis...

  • i totally understand!!! :D its purely and honestly beautiful! i hate todays music

  • love it....i like singing songs that are mellow, sad, love,,,,,,,,,,,,

Mazzy star is a beautiful band..........\

I sing melow stuff on my site check out twilight,in the sun,,,,

  • i love this song.

  • Yes, those were the days...The 90's were a great decade for music!

  • *icequeen2326

  • Люблю їх..... такі ніжні :)

  • sure it does...

  • Beautiful Song :)

  • This song should have been no 1 in the charts but that would spoil it .absolutely brilliant.

  • @artrigue

  • They say every man goes blind in his heart.

And they say everybody steals somebody's heart away

And I've got nothing more to say about it

Nothing more than you and me.

  • so sweet......

  • Una cançó preciosa. Per escoltar eixos dies de fred, il·lussió i ganes de plorar.

  • i luv this song...i just listened to it 2 days ago...nd fell in love! omg i wish she made like new songs!

  • @nikkifridley95 Hope Sandoval does, she's with a band called Hope Sandoval and the Warm Intentions. They're not half as good as Mazzy Star, but they're still not bad.
