  • Dude it just says something about some codec

  • It imports but does not have sound.

  • Omygod u saved my life thank you so much big help!!!!!!!!!!!

  • .mov is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

  • it imports the video but won't let me play it or edit it at all. fail

  • only the audio appears for me

  • Thank u i used this file converting website called zamzar and on wmm the converted files were black... Thanks

  • i did that and they poped up but it still said it wouldn't import the video.

  • wait.. nvm.. it didnt import :( i do hav divx but maybe not the codec..?

  • thank you :)

  • The file C:\Users\NEW ACCOUNT\Videos\MVI_0298.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

  • you are freaking awesome

  • doesnt work

  • 0:58 *fart?* EXCUSE YOU!

  • Ok thank. I will try for my laptop.

  • IT DOESN´T WORK !!!!!

  • this doesn't work

  • I don't have a 'video files' folder on my desktop! :/

  • windows movie maker is shit, get a mac, and use movs properly. as soon as you convert movs, they loose quality...get a mac.

This is the whole reason i switched to mac...better ease of video editing, and no lost quality on hd video.

  • this doesn't work, divx codecs don't do anything

  • doesnt work :( it says: The file C:\Users\Jennie\Videos\JENNAIE lol 006.MOV is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

  • @Jennnafira same for me :(

  • it goes into movie maker but it doesnt play. its just a black screen when i press play.

  • i think i read it dont work on vista bussiness or the basic, and i have bussiness!!!

  • Hello KeyLargo67.

I have a panasonic lumix which takes HD movies in .MOV format.

I also use windows vista as my operating system.

Did you need to install anything on your laptop to import .MOV files or does it work without any problems. ?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks.

  • Is there ANY programs out there that can deal with a .mov file. I have movie maker but on Xp ( like many below) and nada. I hate having to convert because I lose so much quality

  • it didnt work :(

  • That dosen't work at all with me, on Vista

  • idk why but when i add this to my timeline, it only goes to audio, NO VIDEO, JUST AUDIO

  • it wont work for me. help....me please

  • yea this doesnt work

  • This works EXCEPT, it won't play SOUND. Just the VIDEO will play, but NO SOUND.

  • @TrueTalkTV

    have to agree with that

it will play only video that way

or it wil play only audio

that`s why you have to convert it

  • doesnt work

  • do u have .DivX player? DivX gives you tons of codecs that should help in this process. I made this video to help my friend. I apologize if it doesnt help you.

  • This doesn't work for me either, And I have Windows Vista. Do I have to have another program.?

  • doesn't work at all for xp.

  • The file C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\me and gio and bella.MOV is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

thats what shows when i tried to do what he did

  • which Wondows are you running?

  • im runnin microsoft windows xp

  • Im running Vista. Another user commented a while back and sais XP doesn;t support importing .mov into Movie Maker

  • ooo ok

  • I have vista but MOVs aren't supported!

  • Did you follow all the steps in the vid? If you did .Movs should come up.

  • I did that that before I watched the video. I get:

    H:\DCIM\101KM753\101_1125.MOV could not be imported.

And before you sya Move It To The Desktop, I'm not going to do that. I can import pictures from it.

  • i cant find any of my videos on my computer , i upoaded them from my camera. but there just not any files for my videos... GAHH !!!

  • i tired that and it duznt work

  • EXCUSE YOU.

  • it will only read it as an audio, not video

  • It doesnt work on the XP version.

  • kinda worked but i only get sound

  • when i do this it says that wmm has stopped working and then it restarts itself.its really frusterating

  • i did this but theres no sound, HELP

  • it doesnt work for me! it keeps saying "The file J:\DCIM\100KM863\100_0184.MOV is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker."

  • holy shit same here

  • same here, this vid is of no help

  • Yes, you can _play_ .mov files, but you can't edit QuickTime files on Movie Maker. For editing, you need a file converter to change .mov files to .wmv or .avi .

  • o.o I edit my quicktime videos in Media Player. Thats how I did my "Califorication video.

  • i need help it says The file C:\Users\matt\Videos\030.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

  • Does your computer prompt you to find the codec? You can also download Divx. That program is free and gives you codecs.

  • nice desktop bb<3
