I have the same fondue, if your Walmart doesn't have any most Spanish supermarkets carry a huge assortment. I spray painted the bottom of mine black with grill paint. It helps a whole lot and saves fuel.

I'll have to look for that fondue pot though 2.5 oz is pretty heavy. I know many use the Stanco grease pot from Walmart/Kmart but it's pretty large. I've been using the 25 oz Heineken can, which is 2 oz with my lid. The wider fondue pot might be more efficient with my cat stove.
@topshotrhit That little cup is avail at Walmart for about 3 bucks... not the lightest, but a great cheap option for a decent little cook pot. And you're 100% right... very efficient little pot! I recently switched to a 20oz Fosters pot with a DIY reinforced lip ring... weighs an ounce even. There's a vid on my channel somewhere if you're interested.
@intenseangler I had seen on BPL that "zelph" had started making cut down Foster's cans with ridges to give more strength, but don't have the funds to buy one. I'll check out your vid. The tall, skinny cans aren't the ideal shape but the very thin metal allows them to still be nearly as efficient. I'd definitely like it if the can was a bit shorter.
@intenseangler I just finished my Heiny pot/v-8 stove with pie pan lid and windscreen. The total weight is 1.7 oz!!! Really incredible. I have been backpacking for over 20 years lugging a 25 pound fully loaded pack around. Thanks to your videos I have cut my pack weight by more than half! Now I should be able to continue packing for another 20 years. I just wanted to say thanks.
@vNstylez2004 Thanks. Yeah, learning to work that sewing machine was a huge plus! It has saved me ALOT of money... not to mention the satisfaction of using gear that you make yourself... good stuff. Take care friend...
How can you fit the nut can in but not the larger bottle? Did you modify the 2nd pocket? I have a bag much like this and I just happened to have a blue diamond not can on my desk , it wont fit.
@gastar2000 I didn't make any mods to the pockets on this pack. The almond can is just about the same size (a fraction bigger) as the small Powerade bottle, so it fits right in there (tight fit though)... the 32oz bottles are much bigger in diameter, so there is no way of making them fit. For times when I need to carry more water, I thought about attaching a mesh pocket between the existing pocket and the pack so I can put the can in there and then carry an extra bottle. Hope that helps.....
I was in a dollar store the other day. I thought it would be fun to walk around and find stuff to make an entire ultra light DS pack system including food , shelter, cook, and sleep. I found everything needed but don't have the stones to do it yet. I hope someone sees this and does : )
@gastar2000 Dude, that's an awesome idea! So you found everything you needed at the dollar store, eh? Awesome! Hey, if you get the chance, send me a PM about the setup... I'd love to hear about it!
As my hiking season quickly approaches here in the low desert, I am too, looking for ways to lighten my pack (daypack). I think my problem might be that I carry gear to cover all situations. To include shelter, saw etc. I really don't know what to cut out. I think I'm going to have to show my contents and get feedback from people like yourself. Blessings to you buddy.
@mizooch70 I know exactly what you mean Bro. It's really hard to cut stuff out... especially after you've already put alot of thought into what you're carrying. For me, it was a matter of figuring out how to accomplish the same goal (being equipped and prepared), but doing it with either lighter or more compact gear. Either way, this system is limited in it's uses. Looking forward to seeing what gear you carry... some awesome choices I imagine! Take good care my Brother!

Good setup so far. Going on to watch the rest of this series. I agree with your comments on the whistle. I have 2-3 of them and find the little compasses in these whistles work very well.
@Woodenarrows Thanks Jim! Yeah, I was surprised at that little thing... it seemed really "gimmicky" at first, but I was surprised at how useful it is. I'm glad to hear that your experience was similar :-)
@jpampongan I honestly have no idea since I've never been there lol. I would imagine that you would need some better shelter against the bugs and stuff at the least though! What are your thoughts?
@intenseangler well i just bought a cheap mosquito net , we call "kulambo", for the bugs. but your system is quite small. it be nice to try it out here. it'll be a challenge. some folks here just use a bolo and a poncho
@intenseangler Don't look at me, I didn't do anything this time ... but between you and me, hmmm - did you notice than quick grin on Bushman's face???
@dcordry Thank you my friend, that means alot! Hope all is well over your way. Looking forward to another good lesson in multi-tool school by the way ;-)
Hi John, Awesome Video! I've been patiently waiting for this one.. Not.. : o) Very nice find on the hip pack and the color actually looks really good on you. ; ) Those Rainbowhiker cooking systems are amazing!
@saradreaming Hey there Sara! Thanks for the kind words my good friend! Sorry to keep you waiting for so long on this... I ever mention that I'm a slacker? Haha. So you think the purple looks good huh? Hmm.... I may have to consider revising my wardrobe now ;-0 Wanna hear something funny? I actually tried dyeing this pack black... well, after two attempts it just wouldn't take the color... so I guess it was meant to be, eh? Take the best care Ms. Dreaming ;-)
@ColinOutdoors Thanks for the kind compliments Colin! I had been trying to get this video put together for over a month now since that trip video I did using it... people seemed very interested in it. Can't believe it turned into 4 parts though! lol.
Regarding the cook kit: When putting this pack together, I was concerned about a cook system that would fit, but once again, thanks to friends here on YouTube, the perfect solution came about. Gotta love it :-)
@lieyonder Good catch on the magnifying glass! I completely forgot to mention that. I agree with you, it is an excellent tool to have! And that little cook-set really is something isn't it? Not going to be able too cook a gourmet meal with it, but it sure is better than cold foods! Thanks a bunch for the great comment my friend!
@g0vqw Thank you Sandy! I agree with you on the cook-set... it is the perfect option for this system! I do have to give all the credit to John though (rainbowhiker), if it wouldn't have been for his idea I don't think I could have come up with a pot that worked with this little hip pack.
