Do you guys remember these guys when they sung the theme song to 'Coming to America' at the beginning of the movie? What about the Life Savers commercials ^.^
@sunbabybull Same thing for me. There is an episode that was on Adult Swim tonight where the family sings a song by these guys. Though the song is unnamed.
i remember growing up my dad would play mambazo i would stop what ever i was doing and sit quietly and listen to the beautiful harmonies .Makes me proud to be African when i hear these guys !
@RiCeCracKer894 I know this group from Moonwalker, but never knew the name 'til today, and suddenly that part of Mean girls made total sense to me!! LOL!!!
Beautiful harmonies! everytime I am reminded of the beautiful country of SA when I visited. I saw a movie called White Wedding that was really funny but had some excellent music from SA too.. I heard it just came out for dvd so I will pick up next time at walmart. Whiteweddingmovie. com

These guys are fantastic. I've had the pleasure of seeing them live a few times. They put on a great show. I strongly recommend seeing them if you get a chance before Joseph Shabalala retires, if he hasn't already
Thank you 2300skiddo for that info. Many do not know this. Yes Paul Simon really streatched it when he incorporated them and others from Africa to his music. Simply inspiring...from the Roots of Rhythm, beautiful Africa!
Re the African influence on American music. Yes, of course. But this particular tradition started after a tour in South Africa by an African American group lead by Orpheus McAdoo in the 1890's. A very significant and stirring event. The Zulu choir tradition started right away, and musicians performing in the newly born style were traveling abroad themselves within a few years. Best thing Paul Simon ever did, introducing this music to a wider audience.
Dunti 21...thank you for sharing your ignornce and singlehandedly, without a doubt, winning the youtube duesch bag award. We hope to see you next year.
