Companies like Exxon Mobil lobbied to help prevent consumers from having that choice. Chevron even managed to suppress the NiMH battery that made electric cars viable in the 1990s.
Oilies and government aren't letting us have alternatives. They'd rather present us a choice of sacrifice or business as usual. No surprise what people would pick.
I agree with you Aghardt. It isn't completly Exxon's fault, we all need to find alternative means of transportation as well as alternative energy and fuel. However, shame on Exxon for paying scientists to mislead the public about the seriousness of climate change. They are not doing anything to help, they are making the climate crisis worse.
