The Snes version had many many subtle changes to make it "fit" closely with the arcade... Background less detailed etc, not sure if they did the same with Megadrive/Genesis. But really, who cares! Amazing games pushing the boundaries back then... Long live the 90s block busters and thus leading the pack!
is it true that this version has smaller graphics than the super nintendo...the characters on the genesis version look smaller...is this true??? someone respond please
Either someone thought it was racist that the black (Mike from SF1 = Mike Bison from SF2) guy gets hit OR Capcom wanted to show that Joe (SF1) and Cody (FF) are different characters.
@louietsang I didn't say they sound good or better or the graphics nicer but both are similar to the ones used in arcade if you watch closely for the SNES graphics and sounds were modified and adapted so they aren't the same as in the arcade.
It's not racist. The original intro just depicted a street fight between a black man and a white man, and the black man got knocked out. It's not racist or anything, but, assumedly, they didn't want to be accused of racism, so they changed it.
@DrClay999 Hmm...The SNES version was actually voted the better of them by a majority of players and GamePro, who by the way rated it better than the 3DO SSF 2 Turbo in their review.
@dunnono00 The Gamepro editors rated the 3DO version in their magazine and mentioned it in their review (part of SNES Turbo being best translation and gameplay). As for players the few I knew that played it said the 3DO had good music but they usually played their SNES version of Turbo.
One of my favorite games of all time, man this brings back a lot of memoirs of the Genesis. I remember I paid $70 dollars for this game. (I had to do a lot of saving) I was in high school at the time.
I used to play this game all the time on my brother's Genesis when I was a kid. With all the button-mashing I did, it was a miracle when Ryu suddenly did a hadoken, or Vega did his wall climb and dive attack. Love the music and the little oddities (knocking Vega's mask/claw off, Barlog's ripped shirt after a perfect fight).
BTW, why is Ryu such a bastard to fight, even on easy mode (one star)?

@Chepito2846
Should be the same size. The resolution may be playing tricks with our vision. Genesis games were usually 320x224 while SNES used 256x224, I believe.

people who prefer the SNES version would hate the arcade original , considering the music is very similar to the Genesis ver since they both use FM

Genesis version had no slowdown, Snes did, case closed.

The good thing about the Genesis version is that the graphics and sounds are closer to the arcade version.
SourcererZ 9 months ago
@SourcererZ what you talking bout? the snes has far superior sounds, everyone in genesis sounds like they got strep throat

By that time, they realized how racist was putting a black man getting knocked out, so they put a white man.

When Sagat does his Tiger Feint Kick, it looks like he's dancing. XD
(and am I the only one who wanted Balrog to rip his shirt off like he sometimes does?)

@calamaty You sort of have to wonder how many of those people actually even played SSF2:T on a 3DO.

Too bad the Genesis had an ass of a control scheme. You had to press start to switch between punches and kicks, what bullocks.

Sega sacrificed the audio for better graphics. I'd still rather this version better than the Super Nintendo's
