  • T1D is absolutely an illness - an auto-immune disease. Don't minimize the seriousness of the disease. That said, I do appreciate your "can do" attitude. However, there are some limitations IMPOSED upon T1Ds - can't fly an airplane, can't join the military, can't work for certain civil service offices, etc. I disagree with some of the externally imposed limitations. Sadly, you are not 'just like everybody else" in that regard. Unfortunate. I pray for a cure every single day.

  • @mstdohio dude

i flew over the atlantic several times. i am almost 6 years away from that video

i am still happy ;) cheers!

  • @RandRandM

Commercially. You can not make a career out of flying an airplane if you are a type I diabetic. FAA regulations.

  • "if you take care of your self you can have a normal life" if it were not an illness you would not have to do anything more than I do. just because it can be controled and does not kill you does not mean it is not an illness.

  • @actrapide In your last mail to me you said: "Oh & lastly...YOUR NOW BLOCKED haha as you have nothing to say that interests me in the slightest!"

Don't ha, ha me my dear, because you are the one injecting 4x a day & I wonder

of how much longer your body will be able to handle that much artificial insulin (are you on other drugs too?)

without, at the same time addressing many other critical factors...diabetes complications are a real possibility...If you knew, you'd wish you were my patient

  • •"Everyone should know that the 'war on cancer' is largely a fraud."

Linus Pauling, PhD, Two Time Nobel Prize Winner

  • I'm not here to start any arguments but reading some posts below, i just have to disagree with many! I have been type 1 for 30 years now & i consider myself fitter than 75% of anyone walking this planet! Diabetes is a life threatening illness as we all know but will a little control you are no different from any one else anywhere! Modern insulin's like Lantus & novorapid make control much more easy than when i used Pork insulin's many years ago! So relax & enjoy life! haha That's all i got 2 say

  • @actrapide First glad you are doing so well. My daughter has been a type 1 since age 4 now 28 and in great health. She graduated from med. school and is finishing her 2nd yr of residency. A very demanding endeavor both emotionally and physically. It can be done as you know! It takes effort but it can be done. Most people don't realize that Type 1 and type 2 are REALLY two different diseases.

  • @sweetclaire06 Hi! Thank gawd there is some on YouTube who aint out looking for a fight! haha As for Hally Berry, i just dont understand how she can say what she does! She spokes woman for some sort of American Diabetes network & with her wealth, she has diabetes experts at the end of each of her fingers & yet she still gets it 100% wrong! haha Maybe she did it to wind us all up? Who known lol

  • @actrapide "Maybe she did it to wind us all up?"

I don't know about that. The impression I've gotten is when word got out that she was diabetic, she decided for what ever reason(future work opportunities) she didn't want to be known as the token abeit "hot looking diabetic actress".Next thing I hear she's saying she's cured herself of type 1 diabetes. She does have a rep for being neurotic and difficult in the business. Not sure what's going on. She could be doing more positive PR. for sure.

  • @sweetclaire06 Oh ive just realised why Hally Berry claim to have cured her own type 1 diabetes - She was having a hypoglycaemic attack at the time of the interview! haha

  • @actrapide I just realized you say you've been diabetic for 30 years! Wow since right before home glucose monitoring. And right about the time of recombinant DNA tech for insulin. Good for you!

  • Oh PLEASE don't mention Hally Berry when talking about diabetes eh! haha She claims to have cured her type 1 & says she ONLY now has type 2 - video is on YouTube! (is she insane?) The differences between type 1 & type 2 are like the differences between the common cold & terminal cancer! They are not even the same illness , even if they do look similar & are treated in much the same way!

  • @actrapide I once read a ridiculously expensive diabetes textbook that outlined 14 CATEGORIES of diabetes with subtypes, not two or three types. For you to think you understand everyone's brand of diabetes is ignorant. For you to attack another diabetic is worse. She may have been misdiagnosed initially or may be an intermediate type. In any case your attack is tasteless.

  • @gphx Im sure we would all like to know the name of the book you read, that states there are 14 types of diabetes, if only to avoid it completely! haha We diabetics know there are ONLY 3 known types (not counting the newly discovered 1.5 which i know very little about) Type 1, Type 2 & Gestational! As 4 Hally Berry, the points i made about her claim are fully backed up by all scientific/medical communities worldwide! It is not my fault her IQ is so low that she cant workout her quacks an idiot!

  • @actrapide Handbook of Diabetes by Gareth Williams, John C. Pickup Type 1: autoimmune idiopathic Type 2: ranges from insulin resistance with insulin deficiency to insulin secretory defect w or w/o insulin resistance Other types: Genetic defects of b cells Genetic defects of insulin action Diseases of pancreas Endocrinopathies Drug or chemical induced Infections Uncommon forms of immune mediated diabetes Other genetic syndromes associated with diabetes Gestational diabetes
  • @gphx @gphx As i said before, there is ONLY type1, type 2, gestational & type 1.5!!! The whole list, as stated by you from your diabetes hand book are NOT (repeat NOT) "types" of diabetes, they are causes of diabetes! But am sure most of us other diabetics already know this without having to go by a book on the subject! & just one last note...if you reply back to me il simply block you because your obviously using this topic to start a fight! Have a nice day! lol

  • That's odd, I thought our conversation started when you picked on Hally Barry. You say she's an idiot but you attack people who aren't here to defend themselves. I hope your bgs go well today and tomorrow all the same.

  • @gphx Attack? What planet is it that you live on? Hally Berry says with her own mouth that she (or her doctor) cured her type 1 diabetes! That’s the statement of the century because type 1 is NOT curable! If she really does believe she has been cure of type 1...YES she is an idiot! Il say it once again...she is most definitely is an idiot! lol Now your getting blocked because you don’t seem to be much brighter than she seems to be! Have a nice day now!

  • @actrapide You seem to be very dogmatic in your beliefs...I wonder how educated

you are...or are you another one on home duties making a newsence of yourself?

Dr William Wong, ND, PhD, claims ( his website: totalityofbeing com/ FramelessPages /Articles /TreatingDiabetes htm)

two success case studies of Diabetes Type I, (one complete cure) using systemic

enzymes...if you are dealing in the field of Medicine with your eyes closed, better go

to a School for the blind!!!

  • @arrowhead3k Firstly - WHY do you cling to the every words of a So-called expert who states (on the page link you gave) that "Current thinking on diabetes is that the body’s immune system attacks the pancreas creating inflammation" That is BS matey! Diabetes is an attack on the Beat cells in the pancreas, correct! The attack does NOT cause inflammation, it kills the beta cells off! The transplant of Beta cells r relatively easy to replace, what is not so easy is the attack killing them off...

  • @arrowhead3k From what i read on the link you provided, i certain read nothing which even suggests the person who wrote is has an IQ above 25! Why do you believe him & dismiss the 100 million scientists & doctors around the world who, coincidently seem to back up lol what i know & believe! I’m far from being an expert on diabetes but i do have the common sense to be able to work out from which corner the real experts r in! & it sure as hell is NOT your corner mate!

  • @arrowhead3k I believe the cure is just around the corner & when it arrives it will come from the scientific community who are experimenting in stuff like Stem Cell research - a science the Brits founds only because GW Bush banned it in the USA! As for the top scientists leading the way for a cure they are the Isrealis, one of whom who has cured a mouse with diabetes using a drug which has been FDA approved for over 20 years search You for "Breakthrough Diabetes Research From Israel" ul find it

  • @actrapide I have a new patient (1 day ago) with very poorly controlled Diabetes I. Has had a stroke, poor liver, low stomach acid, allergies, a sister with low B12(but he has never been tested for), vit D level half of what it should be, candida overgrowth, anaemia (no complete blood tests in last 10 years even though he was anaemic in his childhood), high inflammation, high A1c, very poor diet, 3-4 hrs sleep, no exercise...loaded with medications, but as sick as a "dog"...

    You have no idea!

  • @arrowhead3k You have a new patient! lol OMFG..ru tell me you a doctor? It was only last week i had to correct you & tell you type 1 is not caused by inflammation of the pancreas! You certainly do state all the most common conditions caused by a life times worth of uncontrolled diabetes (poor HbA1c) but then you let yourself down by adding at end "You have no idea!" Your insinuation that i do not know the result of having poor blood glucose control tell me you know nothing about diabetes...

  • @arrowhead3k because in the UK at least, most doctors will agree that in the case of type 1 diabetes, the patient know his condition best! (not the doctor) By that i mean we diabetics live it in practise, our doctors only know it in theory! Yes they are the experts but at the end of the day we patients treat our selves on a daily basis! So you most certainly an idiot mate! & certainly not a doctor! If you R a quack...i pity your new diabetic patient!

  • @arrowhead3k But on saying that...prove to me your a doctor! What do you prescribe to a type 1 diabetic who can not, or will not stick to any kind of controlled diet? This is a basic diabetes control question, not rocket science or a trick question! (i bet you cant even answer it) If his last doctor had suggested what I'm think of, perhaps he would not be in the mess he now finds himself in now! Go on you have 3 guesses to answer! No clues will be given as the answer is simple! haha

  • @actrapide Wow, I am impressed with the level of your stupidity!

Uneducated & stupid as you are, obviously could not & did not get the slightest

idea of what I said in my previous posts. You are diabetic, probably loaded with

drugs too, ever-increasing insulin amounts you have to inject daily & waiting for the discovery of the "magic bullet" cure to save you...ha, ha, ha...in the mean time

    you play doctor...ha, ha..

Every Scum & Co puppet I have come across behaves exactly the same

  • @arrowhead3k Hey numbnuts, when you said in a previous post "I have a new patient" it implies that your some kind of health worker & nothing else! As for my ever increasing amounts of daily insulin, i am on the same daily dose i was on 4 years ago! Through choice i inject 4x a day! Thats what professional sports people with diabetes do, as it give you brilliant control if managed correctly! As for me playing doctor, no im playing survival as its my own knowledge that keeps my diabetes under...

  • @arrowhead3k control! People like you should be banned from login on too the internet because you only use it to cause trouble & stir the sh*t! May i recommend the next time you pick an argument with someone, you learn about the subject before you open your vile, fat assed mouth! You cant even answer my simple question i asked you so that tells us all YOU know nothing worth knowing about diabetes! Oh & lastly...YOUR NOW BLOCKED haha as you have nothing to say that interests me in the slightest!

  • @actrapide Injecting 4x a day!!!..I feel really sorry for you, your illness is quite

serious & I feel deeply for you...but 4 years on the same insulin level, & that's

because of your own knowledge...this simply my dear is not good enough....

in the hands of a competent doctor you should be doing much better...if you

knew, you'd wish you were my patient!!!

If you want to get better you must change your attitude...open your

mind to Scientific Naturopathy...don't pretend you know all...

  • @actrapide I don't have to prove to you or to anyone anything...and who are

you by the way? someone with no qualifications in Medicine that plays

doctor, expert, I know it all...you are on the wrong tangent my dear & ill-

informed and closed-minded as you are, you are doing a bad service for others.

So, why don't you spare us your bullshit & leave expert talk to experts...

go wash some dishes with your think-alike sweetclaire06???

Net-surfing puppets like you leave a bad odour behind

  • @gphx TYPE 1 is NOT a curable illness! (Its an auto immune disease) You CANNOT cure Type 1 & make it in too Type 2 (as Hally Berry claims to have done) as type 1 & 2 are completely different illness! Only Hally Berry & her doctor can do that for you! haha (So she claims anyway) Doh!

  • @actrapide Everything you are saying is absolutely RIGHT. There is so much misinformation especially on YouTube. Sad that people go to YouTube for medical advice. As for Halle Berry I was shocked when I heard that interview. I guess she was confused. She was diagnosed later in life, so maybe there was some initial confusion between type 1 and 2. No one ever said you have to be smart to be an actress or not suffer from denial for that matter.

  • @gphx & just one further point about Hally Berrys Type 2 condition - If she really is a type 2 how come she has a super hot slim body? 80% of all type 2 diabetics world wide have weight problems (ranging from being overweight to morbid obesity) which are directly conected to their type 2 condition! If could give Hally Berry one tip...id tell her to find a new doctor ASAP!

  • yep 1 month ago I got type one diabetes cant join the air force anymore cant eat what I want cant live anymore the deases sucks balls

  • @shotgun9597 - hey man sorry to hear you been diagnoses with type 1! Can i ask what age you are? im thinking like 18 maybe due to you wanting to join the airforce? Type 1 has always been known as Juvenile diabetes as all who get it, get it in younger years! I believe Hally Berry was actually misdiagnosed with having type 1, as she now believes she cured it & now only has type 2! lol The only way to distinguish between the 2 types are if you have anti bodies in you blood at diagnosis! Did you?

  • I just got dibetes two weeks ago chances for a cure : (

  • I have type on as well and i was diagnosed about 4 months ago. I might still be in that " its ok if u take care of your self " phase, but i know ill probably HATE it when i start getting complications. But ive given it all to God because i know theres nothing i can do about it except try my best to control BS levels. And heck NO you are not gonna have a normal life. I just hope they are not *withholding* cures, just to make money from us, like they do with every other diseases!!!!

  • @Mst1m i have it for 5 years. still alive and happy with my life. don't feel diffrent from my friends and thinking about doing another video on the topic in the next moths. so you can live a normal life ;)

  • @Mst1m I absolutely agree that they could cure this today. I had a doctor tell me that they have the cure but it's a 600 million dollar a year industry and so, because of greed, they won't "cure" it. This was in 1998. I was diagnosed w/ Type I in 1995. My best suggestion to you is this; DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR DOCTORS SAY ABOUT TESTING. Test often. I test 10 times a day. They say the average is 3. 3 is NOT enough. Test at least 10 times. It keeps your BS levels in much better control!

  • @Mst1m My daughter was diagnosed at age 4she's now 28 and a doctor specializing in endocrinololgy. She was a ballet dancer (at a prof level) and never missed a day of school or college due to her diabetes. All I can say is this: Is it hard being a diabetic? Yes. Is a happy productive life doable? YES!! It does become a routine. The most important thing to remember is if you take good care of yourself you can live a long and in some cases even healthier life than others who abuse their bodies.

  • @Mst1m Please please please don't fall into that awful untrue mindset that one see's so much from people on You Tube. That is the conspiracy crowd who say the evil powers that be don't want a cure for any disease be it cancer or diabetes. Don't you believe that!

There are thousands in labs all over the world in private labs and universities trying to find the answers and cures.

Remember they have families too...they get sick too......many want to win that nobel prize. Or just get rich!

  • @Mst1m I hope I am wrong, but I think they r withholding cures like with other diseases.Like cancer, diabetes just makes 2 much money to cure.I believe if there's a cure, they'll hide it.A tiny vial of insulin is like $100.They're destroying my life cause of greed. My daughter was recently in ICU again, almost losing her to DKA. 1 1/2 years ago,her baby was stillborn&I almost lost her, 2,from DKA.Not even Drs. can keep it under control. She's 29&Drs say she'll be lucky to make it to 35.I hope u do k

  • Great blog, I agree with you 100%!!!

  • all the doctors say we can live a normal life its impossible to do i've had it 14 years this july im not allowed a pump because our hospital doesnt have the money for it im not allowed to follow my dream to be in the RAVC because of my diabetes i ahve faced a lot of predujice against specifically from one of my teachers a lot of people have no clue what it entails ive turned round and told my teacher to f off when i was having a hypo cause i get aggressive when im low and he was confusing me :\

  • what can u not eat ?

  • @num1ubernacht you can eat anything as long as you take insulin

  • You won't necessairly get kidney disease etc you only develop this if you dont take care of yourself with diabetes as long as you dont abuse it my sister has diabetes and shes already on a 6 month waiting list for a pump because she takes good control of her diabetes. My sister handles it really well i agree with this video though we shouldnt always be saying the bad things about diabetes because its not always bad as long as you look after yourself :)

  • @xbabygirlmwahx Glad to hear she's doing so well.

  • i hav cystic fibrosis + type 1 diabities

  • thanks for posting this, alot of people have struggles going through diabetes such as i do. I was indenial for some time after the diagnosis but i got an insulin pump && now i feel so good about myself! THANKS!

  • can't really hear what your saying. However I have type 1 and I don't care what you or anyone says, its far from fucking normal. Live with it for at least ten years then we will see how peachy you are. Let the early stages of kidney disease hit you, let some nerve or eye damage effect you, perhaps then you will change your tune. It doesn't matter how much you take care of your the disease is always messing your body up 24.7 it never stops. Treatment is not a cure.

  • yey to your ppositive attitude

let's cut our venes!! bloood bloood

  • @EvilGothGuy I agree with you! 100% I was diagnosed at 1-years-old and I am now 22-years-old. Diabetes is a chronic disease, and this guy is saying we can be as good as anyone else? Wrong! I have liver problems now and its not fun at all, When I have low blood sugars I dont know who or where I am, when its high I become very ill. this guy, with all do respect, is in denyl

  • @EvilGothGuy i live with it for 5 years, still thinking i can handle it. any questions?

  • @EvilGothGuy

I AGREE with you! I've lived with type I diabetes for 25 yrs. Despite ALL efforts it still kicks my *ss everyday! @RandRandM may possibly be going through what the medical profession calls the "honeymoon phase". Everyone is entitled to their opinion BUT facts are simply facts... diabetes IS an illness/disease! And its frustrating to see ignorance being spread about this disease especially by other diabetics.

  • Please explain how you can live a normal life when your denied health insurance due to diabetes being a pre-existing condition, your life revolves around your meals, injections & dr apts. Having to deal with discrimination from ignorant people & being “financially raped” by the pharmaceutical co's for medication your life depends on. Consider yourself extremely blessed. And trust me, you’re gonna need that positive attitude when your body comes out of the “honey moon” phase.

  • @sheridc75 Actualty the honeymoon phase only lasts up to a year. The poster of this video has said he has had type 1 for 5 years now.

Maybe you should find a positive attitude and cheer the fuck up.

Type 1 has made me live a healtheir lifestyle and it could be worse. Im still alive so im stoked.

  • @EirynFeehily Too bad ur taking my comment so personally. Attitude or "cheering the f@ck up" has nothing to do with the fact that diabetes a serious illness. How can you say that it is not? None of the diabetics I know ever hit honeymoon the 1st yr (not saying it doesn't happen) nor are any of them able to live normal lives but all of them, including myself try the best we can despite the challenge. Be grateful your diabetes is manageable & don't be so judgmental of those less fortunate as you.

  • @EvilGothGuy yeah I can't fucking wait to go blind.

  • i say being positive is the best thing. as a diabetic i am glad im not the only one who thinks that way.

  • I think it's great you have a positive attitude. We have one too. Reality is everyone's experience and diabetes is different, and type 1 is definitely a chronic autoimmune disease. My focus is to raise awareness of type 1 so that people know the symptoms or if they see someone going hypo don't think they're just drunk or something but seek medical treatment.

  • i don't believe that diabetes is going to be ever cured, i mean it's a huge industry that brigs a lot of money

making new technical and chemical stuff to ease our life yes, but not a final cure, it would ruin a huge business

  • i think it would be wourth it and the person that finds the cure he will be very rich.

  • on a cure. Artificial (xenobiotic) pancreases are currently in phase 1 trials. Being diagnosed with diabetes is extremely unfortunate, but It doesn't have to end your life!

  • I am glad to see that not all Type 1 diabetics, diagnosed later in life than most, are hopeful. I was diagnosed at 17. I refused to accept it for years, and it took it's toll for that period of time. I am now 25, have finished BS and MS degrees, and am a medical student. For those that are newly diagnosed, be like this guy from the beginning. You will not only live longer, but will have a relatively normal life. And if you search wikipedia, there are links to companies that are working...

  • From age 3 to age 7 is much different. A precious toddler doesn't understand sudden life changes~having blood sugar tested up to 10 times a day & the shots that hurt her so much. As she grows older she tries so hard to be "A Trooper" but still tears come to her eyes when she's having a bad day & so many extra blood sugar tests & injections are needed. Soon to be age 8 she already has much damage to her body organs. A cure for all! Thanks for posting.

  • type is 1 is fucked up it almost killed me till i gotten my kidney/pancreas transplant god bless to all that make through ive had type 1 all my life now i dont know what to do with myself anymore eat whatever and my sugars dont go sky high that would put my ass in hosp for D.K.A

  • Good vid...people really need to understand what diabetes is actually about. I've got type one aswell btw :/

  • I thought Gorbachev had type 2?

If you get diabetes as a young person, it affects life expectancy even if you have pretty good glycemic control.

But I think you're right in that people tend to focus too much on the negatives.

  • yep gorbaciov was type 2, i mean he is type one..but it is still diabetes, and as i know he's on insulin
