I'm confused as to your technique in two areas - sprawling from rear control, and the actual choke. When sprawling, it is much easier to grab his wrists from the inside and then sprawl, if you try to sprawl without wrist control he can roll under. Secondly, there shouldn't be any space between your hand and his neck when going in for the choke. It should scrape his neck. None of this "tight circle" stuff. A decent jujitsu practicioner will see it and pull his chin down.

can a purple belt even legally teach jujitsu?

yes, but thats the lowest rank to teach, and they cant give belt promotions.

I saw a big flaw in his presentation thou, severl other but one main one i want to adress. His palm is against the opponents head, it should be the back of his hand and the pinki to the lower neck, like you are choping his neck, that way they cant peal your hand off and its tighter.
