The amazing thing is this: I remember on draft day of 1996 when the Steelers got Bettis from the Rams for a couple of draft picks (2nd and 4th rounders). I sort of knew who he was, but didn't understand. The Rams had given up on him for a guy named Lawrence Phillips to be the future of the St. Louis Rams. I think the Steelers made out good....two draft picks for a guy who was at the time the 5th leading rusher in NFL history, much less the guy who shamelessly took Mom and Dad to every game.

Yeah, when the Bus got rollin' late in a game and the other team wanted nothing to do with him, there was nothing like it. He was sensational. I doubt there will ever be another player like him. The NFL is changing. He might have been the last of his kind.
