Man I would've loved to have been there.. that atmosphere was electric, being Bus's last game and that we needed to win to even get in the playoffs. Jerome Bettis to the Hall of Fame in 2011!
The amazing thing is this: I remember on draft day of 1996 when the Steelers got Bettis from the Rams for a couple of draft picks (2nd and 4th rounders). I sort of knew who he was, but didn't understand. The Rams had given up on him for a guy named Lawrence Phillips to be the future of the St. Louis Rams. I think the Steelers made out good....two draft picks for a guy who was at the time the 5th leading rusher in NFL history, much less the guy who shamelessly took Mom and Dad to every game.
love them black and gold..jerome was the man..except for that fatal fumble at the 1 against the colts and big ben saved the day wtih that tackle..maybe we be thinkin differently about him now..ha who knows.
Yeah, when the Bus got rollin' late in a game and the other team wanted nothing to do with him, there was nothing like it. He was sensational. I doubt there will ever be another player like him. The NFL is changing. He might have been the last of his kind.
@MrJulius72 i know what you mean. there arent any real power backs left in the league. nowadays what you see are the hybrids. its a shame because i love smashmouth football.
im a cowboys fan. but i have to say if i was a steelers fan,n i heard dem sayin Jerome "the bus" Bettis id go nutz too, he was a great running back. n he went out wit a superbowl ring that he deserved.
has anybody heard that the rooney's may sell the steelers franchise? dan rooney's stupid brothers are causing problems by wanting to sell there shares of the team. the steelers may even move out of pittsburgh! if they do, i will die!
dont be worried, it could actually turn out nice, the guy thinking of buying the other Rooney brothers shares is worth about $3.5 billion. the brothers are getting into the gaming buisness, which is a bit of a conflict of interest with running an NFL team.
Sandman, I agree. Also, fullbacks are becoming less and less used, and the singleback formations are becoming more popular. I say on 3rd and 1, hand it to the big guy, Dan Kreider.
dan kreider deserves a better cheer than that. he's been giving holes to our halfbacks for years, and is undoubtedly the most under-rated fullback in the game.
Oh by the way, wasn't the game on New Year's Day 2006? Last home game as 4-time Super Bowl Champs! Thanks a lot for posting this. Brings back some memories!!!!
I was at that game too! Amazing way for the Bus to go out! I remember chanting "One more year!" over and over. That started the best two months I've ever had as a football fan. GO Steelers!

theres no way that they'll ever move out of pittsburgh, cause roger goodell and the rest of the nfl would nver allow it.
