This piece also makes an appearance when you reach Pinnacle Rocks. I don't mean to overanalyze, but I do find it pretty cool that this theme is used as the next area's main theme both times you escape from Alexandria. i.e. Disc 1 Alexandria to Evil Forest. Disc 2 Alexandria to Pinnacle Rocks.

I still am bitter at Ramuh for making us write that dang story. It took me forever to figure out where that last one was, until I realized that he was actually in the first area...that sneaky man.

Blank was another character that should have joined the party permanently, however in FF9 the good characters always remained side characters.

@Wiseman108 From what I saw of him he was too "generic" to be a main character, e.g. a skill set mixed from Zidane's and Steiner's but no unique traits of his own.

After hearing this, i'm stoned like Blank. God surely have played final fantasy IX and is listening to all Nobuo's works. Anyway I highly suggest you to play all the Final Fantasy from 1 till' 9! I just finished 1 and 2(origins version) and now i'm playing 3 for Nes! Thanks Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu.

I like FFIX's take on evil trees. Most giant trees in any fantasy genre are bringers of life. Not the Iifa tree! Divider of souls, bringer of mist. Makes your afterlife, "stagnant", so to speak.

actually 12's music was good, it had that essence of ivalice from FF tactics, but 13 i dunno its so so, i barely remember any songs besides the intro theme and battle theme

@wendysnailland actually now you mention 12 was great, the music wasnt all that good, but it felt more final fantasy like than number 13, 1 thing ive always loved about final fantasy compared to any other rpg is the emotion and effort put in to capture a characters role, and their history, number 13 just seemed like it was devised over a coffee break, except the graphics, the graphics were unreal as per usual with any other final fantasy game....god i love final fantasy lmao

ditto, love final fantasy too. With 13 it feels different until you get to the open ended world, almost similarly to 7, your stuck in a place so dark you cant see the end, then once your out your OUT and the world is so massive. But it takes longer to do that in 13. I personally like all FF's that i have played, they all have their pros and cons but obviously 9 is my favorite :) and vivi is probably the best character in final fantasy lol

@wendysnailland 1 thing i like about square is that the've never been shy to try new things and i think thats what they've done with 13, it didnt go well like, and yeah i agree with on the whole being stuck in 1 place thing, 7 wasnt so bad i think it takes about 6 hours to get out of midgar, but 13 takes like 25 hours to get to gran pulse, i didnt like how it was all 1 routed with little turn offs to put treasures chests until you got to gran pulse

I didn't mind the one routedness, you simply turn off the over head map and it feels like your "exploring" i think everyone final fantasy starts of like this to a point but just different lengths depending on the story, its good that they kept it like that because the story to be honest is SO confusing and doing side missions and exploring all the while trying to understand what exactly is a fal'cie and l'cie is would be tedious.

let me give you a hand.... final fantasy 7 with awkward changes and and 1 straight and narrow path and renamed and remade characters who conveyed too much emotion to really connect to... except of course sazh and fang... at least in 7 you could explore while confined...

I remember being so nervous playing FFIX for the first time, because I was used to the calmer battle system of FFX (slower-paced, three people) then bam I've got 4 guys and I gotta push out commands right away!
