Summer Wars, great movie. I wish I could get a hold of these cards. I don't live near a con and they aren't worth ordering 150 dollars worth of stuff to me.
Ha ha, I've only learned of summer wars and hanafude this week and know how to play. I only need to learn the card combos and point values for each. Give me two days and I should have the rest memorized
In the Nintendo instructions, it says you can only Koi-Koi once per game. (I'm assuming that means once one player declares koi-koi, no one can until the next hand is dealed out.) However, here, you can Koi-Koi as many times as you like? o.0
@StruckByRain I believe it means once per player per game. So you can declare Koi Koi when you make your first hand, but once you make a second hand you have to end the game and claim your points. At least, this is one variation of doing it.
I just did that today at Sakuracon and got my set. Granted that there were several Bluray that I wanted at their booth anyways, but this was a nice bonus.
after watching Summer Wars for the first time I spent a month scouring the internet trying to learn how to play koi-koi. ^_^ Great video and gosh I really want that Hanafuda set.
No cards that match the one in the middle, you put a card down and draw it like they do with this game. The game ends when there is no more cards in the deck which is usually when the players have an empty hand. The winner is determine by how many points each player earned and the one with the most wins.
This reminds me of a game I learned from my grandpa's older brother when I was in China but the cards were normal playing cards. The game was called go fish with the original people drawing eight(?) cards with eight card in the middle. You play like how you play here with matches like the Ace and 9, 6 and 4, Jack with Jack, and so on. The red cards count their number like 9=9, Queen=10, Ace=20 and the Black counting as one. You draw after every turn and you put down a card and draw if you have
I just got one of the decks from the Funimation booth at AWA, so I'm trying to learn how to play now.
