Dub-step and its many sub-genres including tech-step were influenced by dub music which in turn were influenced ska and Reggae if you don't believe me then Wikipedia it or any music history site. @MMSOAK Techstep is a sub-genre of Drum & bass along with hardstep and came way before Dubstep, 96 - 97 to be precise, just thought I should let ya know
