Okay, I've been listening to Counting Crows all my life, and the first time I heard them cover this it was shit, but this time around I'm amazed. 4:27.
I first heard this in 2008. I still listen to it and it helped me in times of despair.
I love how perfect this is and how emotional it is. Oddly enough I find the original song unpleasant to listen to. I used to love these men but to this day when I hear this it makes me feel more real. There were times when I'd feel like the woman in this song.
I remember I saw an interview with Brendon and he said he gets so nervous performing, i didn't believe it because well he's just so energentic on stage you would never think he's nervous.
Just a little FYI...this is actually a cover of a cover. This version of the song was first pulled off (much better, IMO) by the band Punchline off the cd Dead and Dreaming: An Indie Tribute to the Counting Crows. If you think this is good, check that version out. It's incredible.
@CrashDavis0985 I've heard Counting Crows perform this version too, so they got it from Dead and Dreaming as well? I'm really just curious. It'd be interesting that they used a version someone else created of their song.
At all the people who are calling The Counting Crows "The Casting Crowns" learn your music please. It sounds ignorant. I for one love the Counting Crows, and recently heard this cover, never heard a cover I liked until this one. And just because you don't like Panic doesn't mean you can deny the fact that Brendon can sing. It's obvious he can. All you little haters. You're either 12 and immature, or you're 30 and wish you could be him. Lol.
@Padrino13 you just sound stupid...actually in the REAL WORLD intensity and those kinds of things are what make people love the concert. emotion isnt shit if you cant see or feel it you dumb ass. and casting crowns is a beautiful band but idk why you would try to say one of these bands is better than the other. they are both easily some of the most creative and artistic song writing bands of our generation..you're one opinion on this huge site..meaning your comment was a waste of space...
Then you haven't seen the right performances. You don't have to start jamming out to be "intense". True intensity is in the emotion and Counting Crows TRUMPS Panic at the disco in that respect...well...in all respects actually.
Today in creative writing class we were presenting songs we like and one of my more musical friends showed us this song. We were all mesmerized. 'Nuff said.
@ryuu304 WHOA. Hi there classmate. But I thought people looked pretty bored while I was presenting. I almost cried during my presentation while it was playing. I think this song gets to people at a deeply emotional level.
I think that they did an amazing job on this. You can see the emotion coming from Brendon while he's singing this. And Brendon's voice is just truly incredible. They didn't do a bad job on the song. A lot of bands wouldn't be able to do this song and sound good but Panic did. Of course the original is still extremely powerful and beautiful though.
this is one of my favourite of counting crows and when i first found this like forever ago i sobbed this song means so much to me and for brendon to sing it makes my life.
I agree with ohmayhem to a point, just because it's sped up does not mean it isn't emotional. I love this version. To me, it still doesn't touch the original but is still very good. When Duritz speak parts of the song it's like a story and he draws you in, he then belts out parts to break your heart. Go to yahoo music and watch the version there, I promise you won't be able to fight away the tears.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
They f*ck up the song! The vocals are not nearly as good as Adam Duritz'. It seems as if they forget that this is originally a sensitive song. The up-tempo and the really really bad vocals screw up the song!
But when Duritz performs this live, he speaks it. It's just a monolouge.
Also, the up-tempo doesn't make it any less sensitive, if anything it makes it more emotional. I don't know if we're watching the same video, but these vocals are epic. And at least they're vocals; as opposed to talking through the whole thing.
Something about this song, whether it's Panic! or Counting Crows always makes me cry. I don't know, maybe it's the lyrics? First time I listened to it, I was at a friend's and burst into tears. It was kind of embarrassing... :/
Does anyone notice how they change the song around towards the end? around 3:00 is where they change it but still I thinks its great song all around both counting crows and panic! at the disco are two amazing bands

It's depressing, but at least Brendon and Spencer still kept it alive! Well more like half, since half the band is gone. I still love Panic all the same though.
This is one of those performances that reminds me just why I love Brendon Urie so much. He's good at what he does. He's better than good, he's exceptional. He gets so lost in the music and he puts everything into it, you can just tell looking at him that he really loves doing what he does. He's got the best voice in the world, to me anyway. I know Panic! Will be different without Ryan and Jon, but I know Brendon will keep doing what he does and be as amazing as he ever was.
haha thankyou :) I like to rant about how much those guys mean to me. Because like, they're just amazing and I know I'm rambling but they really mean a lot to me
i still love them all, and respect their choices as musicians. as much as i loved pretty odd, im glad that brendon and spencer are leaning back to their old genre in music.
Really? I don't think its too great of a cover. I love Panic! At the disco (and Panic at the Disco for that matter) but this cover is too loud too heavy and too fast. Its supposed to be more reflective. It works better as a slow balled. Adam sings it in a much softer and richer way.

i love this song so much the cover is just incredible i love it love it love it. this has to be the best cover EVER! fave bit oooooh sleepin children better run like the wind out of the lightning dream mammas lil baby better get her self in out of the lightning
im watching a documentary about them right now, they dont like the fact they appeal to tweenies all over america. i bet 80% of the little kids at this show dont even know what this beautiful song even is.. and im withdrawing my opinion of a few years ago, coming from someone who has seen counting crows live and LOVES them.
I really like Panic, but I'm not sure about this cover - some songs are just un-coverable i guess. As a HUGE Crows fan I consider the original version untouchable! :-)
I've never been a fan of Panic, but, ssuwc, off the Himalayans version, the ORIGIONAL version of 'Round Here' , WAS covered by Adam Duritz's second band, Counting Crows. It's an "uncoveverable" song, agreed, unless it's covered by the same guy!!!!! lol!! But still, gotta give credit, It was a good job by Panic! to show respect to their roots as musicians and they did alright on the somg!
Yeah, peanutismint, the crows came around, what 1994? The Himalayans, Duritz's first band, were 1990ish-1993. And just for a little fun fact, "Mr. Jones" was Adams good freind and bandmates from Himalayns :) I think he was either the guitarist or bass player. And Im dying for Aug 18, I just found out about Crows touring with Michael Franti and Spearhead...gonna see them in Miami, FL!!! can't wait!!
Cool! Hahah yeah when I saw them the other day, Adam intro'd 'Mr Jones' by saying 'So, I used to be in this band with this guy, and this song is about him'. I listened to the Himalayas version of 'Round Here' too - now I see where the 'Storytellers' version came from! :-)

im watching a documentary about them right now, they dont like the fact they appeal to tweenies all over america. i bet 80% of the little kids at this show dont even know what this beautiful song even is.. and im withdrawing my opinion of a few years ago, coming from someone who has seen counting crows live and LOVES them.

What documentary are you watching?

Hahah wow, I never knew! So were 'Himalayans' Duritz's previous band or something? I guess I'm not as 'huge' a fan as I thought! :-)

they did a fantastic job covering this.
i grew up listening to August & everything
after, and counting crows so it was amazing
to see these guys perform it live.
i love them.

I wish they would just record this.

i agree...
they'd have to get permission from Counting Crows though.
i dont think they would ever re-record anyone else's work either though.
i think they just love to cover it & play for
fans to hear.
