I haven't read either of these books, mostly cause i can't bring myself to read a spider-man that's not peter. But speaking from a minority perspective (hispanic), i've never been concerned with the color of a hero. It's never been an issue to me. the issue is do i like this character? Can i relate to this character? And i think, and i'm not saying these books do this cause again i haven't read them and i'm sure they're fine, but i feel like sometimes they'll stick a minority in a mask just to

In new avengers i would see dialogue between peter and luke cage and relate to peter, cause he's like me. a geeky guy with a sense of responsibility, socially awkward and even as a super hero doesn't really fit with anyone. color doesn't matter. is the point of this long winded post. it's a cool thing, but it's not that important.

Love Batwing. It's one of my favorite Batbooks, and I grab all of those buy Red Hood now.

Ultimate Spidey is actually the only Marvel book that I still read. I hate, hate, HATE the 20 pages for $3.99 bullshit that Marvel pulls now, and the fact that it takes 5 minutes to read it, but Bendis can write the shit outta Spidey, and has since the original USM. (Wish Amazing was this good.)

The Peter Parker story has been done to death. I'm happy to see them doing something completely different. If Miles Morales was Spider-Man, but he had an Aunt May and Uncle Ben and he wants to sling his web all over Mary Jane's tits and blah blah blah, I would fucking hate it.

Mr. Terrific was cancelled because of crazy-ugly art and some incoherent storytelling. Static suffered from not knowing who the character was. The ethnicity of the character doesn't mean anything; Batwing has a compelling story that readers want to come back for.... and some pretty amazing art...

Love the show and as a Hispanic I love to see other races get the spot light especially in a big title in spider-man. I know race shouldn't matter but growing in world where the avengers and justice leage are mostly white is a nice to see someone of another race get some shine. but that's just me and I wanted to say love the show and Grace is awesome!

Come on Grace, Miles has the Same Exact Origin Story as Peter. They were both bit by Oscorp spider experiments. The only difference being location. Peter, at the Oscorp laboratory and Miles at his uncle Aaron's.

I love the Morales character and to have a character like peter Parker killed in the ultimate universe was awesome because they don't bring them back in those books. So they can't not have spiderman and the race doesn't matter to me at all. Such a great book and I'm excited to see it progress and turn into something that is going to build into a great series.

(Part 1) My problem is not with Miles Morales. The reason I refuse to accept him is that he is not Spider-Man. He is his own character, a GREAT character, but Marvel is abusing the use of the title Spider-Man to promote a new creation. It might not be true, but it feels to me that is was done only to advertise Marvel Comics to young minorities. Basically, it seems like it was a PR stunt for cash (More the style of Disney than Marvel).

Static Shock and Mr. Terrific sucked balls! Go to Rozum's blog to read what happened to it. And Terrific just didn't work at all. I read the first issues of both books and nothing was good about either. Terrific needed a different approach and Static just needed a new editor and Rozum writing alone. Ult. Spidey has been the bees nees though! I'm very happy with that book

I can't speak for Batwing but spiderman has been awsome. I've actually been enjoying the ultimate title much more then the 616 version for quite a while now.

As for static being cancled. While I'm said it go, the title just was not writen in a way to get new readers. Honstly, the first couple issue fell like I picked up part 4 of a 12 part storyline.

@BeyondTheTrailer I disagree with the marketing thing because dc marketing the heck out of Mr.Terrific and Static Shock. They had ads in all kinds of mags, bet, ebony, and the standard ads. The thing with Ultimate Spider-man and Batwing was that they are books coming off the coat tail of popular heroes. Also it came down to the writing as well as what both of you were talking about how the books were not jump on friendly.

I like Miles Morales, but the thing is, why does he have to be half African and Half Mexican? That's just ridiculously diverse. He does seem like a realistic character though. The only thing about the series that has irritated me so far is that Nick Fury gave him a chance, even though Peter Parker before him was treading on thin ice. :I
