my mac os is 10.6.7 and i tried to save the version to 10.7 but it says the file coudent be saved i even changed the saving settings from "more info". i am downloading the xcode from mac app store cause its free but it needs the mac os 10.7 do u have any ideas help me please

Idea: On Windows, get virtual pc. if you have the iso of the mac, install it, and install xcode!! i try it and it worked!

@dkcaasi yes as ong as you change the permissions for the systemversion.plist for eveyone to read and write

right click on systemversion.plist, click get info scroll down to sharing and permissions click/open that rollout scroll down all the way click on the locked lock icon login as your administrator username under all the users (still in rollout) change each one to read and write. Your done:) You now have the required permissions for that file. open in either text editor or the other one. I used text editor and it worked fine

usually the password for those files are in the password hints.

the hints are located in

>System Prefrences >Users >Select the Username of the one that is required for the file permissons

Then choose change password, the bottom text box has the hint.

Ok, so i have mac os x 10.5.2 or so...but it doesn't recognize when I put in a usb, or try to use internet. from ethernet, or wireless....I downloaded the sdk on my windows 7 os, and have it ready to go...but how do I get it to the mac os on vmware? I can't copy paste, and I can't copy it to a external harddrive cause it won't recognize usb's, and can't download it from mac cause I have no internet...any help? If you have an vmware image that works completely please pm me the link! Thanks :)

installation of the iphone sdk for leopard works now on my os x 10.5.5 vmware. but when i start xcode it crash it crashes.

Great video but the one thing i want to mention is if you get a permisstion error when saving the file and dont know how to change it with sudo in terminal what you need to do is change the access and permissions in get info to read and write for everyone for both system version.plist and the file containing it CoreServices.

I don't like upgrading past 10.5.2 because I don't want my installation to crash. It's a very heavy weight on thin ice that I only do things I KNOW work and won't make the installation shit it's pants.

i have loaded sucessfully an WMware 10.5.5 Mac Os Leopard image, but when i try to update on reboot shows a kernel panic screen. I can to install Xcode 2.5 in 10.5.5 Leopard first, after Iphone SDK 3.0 but when i try to build&run, Xcode Hang up, and the cursor show a beautifull rainbow.

Any suggest are welcome. I am thinkin buy a mac mini to develop.

10.5.6 is VERY hard to successfully boot with, in fact, it's so hard to boot with, some images are just suspended and never shut down, which is problematic for some users. What you should do, is just watch my video, and make your 10.5.5 look like 10.5.6.

For the PCWiz Image, did you put in a serverversion.plist? If so, you need to move that out of the Core Services folder.

when you try to save the SystemVersion.plist in TextEditor he also says "no permission to save" or something like that.

Ah, you need to right click that file, go to "More Info" Or "Get Info", scroll to the bottom of the new window and make sure all permissions are set to "Read and Write".
