WHOA! Kenneth Anger made is seem like De Brier just disappeared after the 60s. I can't believe he was still around in the 90s! Amazing. That scene where he sits straight up in bed and pauses for a second at the beginning of Inauguration is my favorite scene.
i live at barton ave and watched inauguration of the pleasure dome with friends in the room where they filmed it (with the mural still there). when kenneth anger appeared at my door one day just after curtis harrington died, he told us next time he would 'narrate' the film for us as we watched it. still working on that one! if you know about this house, shoot me a message - we're compiling info, especially on Samson, Cameron, Jack and Kenneth.
@zgonecat Thats incredible! Where can we follow your information on them? I especially adore Cameron, I have been collecting her images and writings related to her by Jack Parsons.
@zgonecat I'm very envious of you! I've been fascinated by Cameron for a long time. Even dreaming about her and having synchronicities occur now and then involving her. And my second name is Barton, a nice coincidence. Samson is looking good in this film, amazing for 78.
He was a charming but tough interviewee -- kept leaving the room, didn't necessarily want to answer the questions I asked -- but had an amazing life and equally amazing apartment which we tried to get on film when he absented himself -- he had autographed books from James Joyce, Jack Kerouac and of course Evelyn Nesbit.
I want his house full of cool stuff.
