thank you aunty!! i saw your first video for gulab jamun...they were delicious....i followed your recipes for aloo bengan, aloo gobi...REALLLYYY YUMMMYYYY...thanks!!! tc!
Generally I am shy kind and do not comment much on YouTube videos. But Manjula Aunty.. I must say... your recipes are very simple and awesome. I always cook them at home and they come out real good every time I do so. The way you explain the things and processes is easy as well. If someone asks me to rate your recipes and recipe videos.. I'll certainly give atleast 9.5 out of 10.
This makes me SOOOO hungry. I MUST try this dish, yummmmmmmmm. Manjula, did you notice at 4:50, when you put in the mango powder, it didn't come out of the little bowl? It looked like it had solidified in the bowl from humidity, the way salt sometimes does. Just wondered. Namaste! xo
Namaste Aunty Majula; You are the Tina Turner of internet veggie/Indian cuisine.(simply the best) You've changed my life and freed me from the tyranny of the commericial curry podwer companies. All your recipes are so hands-on,so no-nonsense, so down to earth, realistic, possible , thanks a million.xx
thank you so much for providing this recipe. aloo mattar is my favorite dish when we go to our local indian restaurant, and i've been wanting to learn how to make it at home. this looks wonderful and i can't wait to try it!
Manjula Aunty I am recent subscriber of your channel. I loveeee ur videos, cooking seems so easy by looking at it. I have a request your way, please can you showhow to prepare coconut ladoo. I want to make some for ganpati bhog.
It's called hing. It's the dried and powdered resin of the asafoetida plant. The taste is reminiscent of garlic and onions. Since Jain cuisine avoids those, hing is used to impart a similar, savory undertones to dishes.

She has the recipe written out in the video description usually, and also on her website... Should save you having to replay the video to get the recipe down :)
This is asafetida aka hing which is handy to keep on hand for any bean dishes as it has a bit of a Beano effect :)
@hummingbird975 asofetida, also called hing. It's an Indian spice that smells REALLY strong of garlic, onions, chives... the smell can be pretty unpleasant (like overripe garlic and onions), but when added to a dish and heated, it tastes and smells amazing. A tiny bit at a time is all that is needed. Too much can overpower a dish. You can get it inexpensively at Indian food shops. xo
*rumble* That's the sound of my stomach while watching this video. Manjula is badass. Check the array of spices and the precise ratios for everything to make the perfect aloo mattar! I'm making this on Friday... who's coming over! Bring a salad.
Thank you Manjula, that looks wonderful. I used to make that dish years ago but your recipe looks better than the one I used. I'm looking forward to trying it, especially with those large pieces of tomatoes, mmmm! What would you usually serve that with?
Good job Manjula Aunty! My Aji used to make this for me when I was little because it was my favorite! Next can you show how to make Imly ke chutney aur Aam ke cuchla?! Oh oh, and how about Dal Bhare Roti???!!!!
Thank you, these videos are very useful. I would love you to show how to make a very spicy dish, such as Phall, preferably with lots of tomato. I've been improvising curry for a few years, and I'm getting better, but I'd love to see you make a very spicy rich dish, even a Madras will do.
Looks lovely but I'd throw the peas in at the end so they're not cooked, just warm.

why not put the tomato in the beginning as part of gravy...any particular reason aunty?
simis7 1 year ago
@simis7
Usually tomatoes are added in beginning but adding in the end I feel in some dishes tomatoes gives nice color and taste.
Manjulaskitchen 1 year ago 2
@simis7 i think i will add the tomatoes in the begining wit masala mixture, 4 nice gravy [puree tomato]
decentbeautie 7 months ago
@simis7 its simple... it contains citric and if we add it in the beginning then potato will not cook properly.
