wow: high level. How long do you practice maya? and what do you mean with composing in ae? the camera?

MentayRay Maya or Max do the same quality. The main difference, is that Maya and Max Mentaray implementations are little different. There's some slight different shaders natively suported in both packages. Some of then has different names, and the main difference, they have default presets adjusted with different values for each package. Personly i think Maya Final Gather a hell slower than Max FG. But i guess it's just a case of fine tuning the default values on Maya.

@TheresNoUserNameLeft Mental Ray renders just the same way in Maya and Max. And there are a lot of other renderers too, so the actual modelling app doesn't really matter that much when it comes to rendering :)

@TheresNoUserNameLeft not as real as you think, a generous effect of both motion blur and static blur has been used. blur is a very cheap, and fast way of producing images that seem real and is used very often in photorealistic scenes.
