Todd is a superb drummer. Very smart, technical and a hell of a nice guy. I take nothing away from him. But we will never forget WHO started it all... We love you, John!
I like Todd, technically he's a MASTER on drums. But honestly, I think Johnny Panozzo- the original Styx drummer was far more "musical". He just laid down a sound that made fit PERFECTLY with each song. His twin brother Chuck was on Bass and it was like they were brain-linked in style/sound. I find many "technical wiz bang, master chops" drummers to be amazing to watch doing "tricks" - but they're often not real "musical". It's more like everything is one big drum solo, techno-fest to them.

@danlc95 He has way too much feel for Dream Theatre.. There is more to music than just playing mathematics. DT would hold Todd down. He's got more going for him than that.

He has elevated them to musical greatness in the current day and made them relevant. Not to mention the brilliance of playing with the CYO.
It's not that they didn't have enough time.. It's a medley they use here and there.. Todd came up with the idea to put 18 Styx songs into one.. So it was not a time thing..

I have the DVD with this exact track. It is from the concert they did with the combined youth orchestra. Todd is simply unbelievable. I wasn't sure about him when I reacquainted myself with Styx several years ago, but he has proven to be one of my absolute favorite drummers. Neil, Carter and now Todd is included in my shortlist.

What makes this amazing as a drummer is how in time his left foot on the hi hat is. Just watch the hi hat in the video; it plays on the beat all the time, never straying from the beat. Todd is a rhythmic machine!!!
