As to "make it seem like a dude with knowledge ain't gettin any", I don't really know but I do think that Hughley was introducing someone to an audience that may never have known about Tyson nor have a person to put on their list of people to truly admire and possibly emulate. D.L. Hughley isn't on my radar often but with this, he did go one notch up. But as you are pointing out, maybe D.L.'s schtick is inappropriate here.

Well I wouldn't disagree with you. For as long as I can remember, people have been on a streak to simpify the language because they don't like big words. Still, one is going to struggle to keep up with those changes. Since I've become a Tubehead, I have encountered a bundle of abbreviations that to this day I cannot understand at least immediately.

@omnissient: Using "of" in place of "have" is old. It was used in the 50's by certain people. I don't know whether it is a regionalism, but it has been out there a long time. It appears to me that a large part of Hugely's talkin' is something he's put on for his audience. In private he could be much more articulate. Or not.
