There isn't much a difference, but one difference is that Americans will say the word 'about' as it is normally pronounced where as Canadians will pronounce it "aboot". They also sound slightly Norwegian in my opinion. It kind of annoys me sometimes when TV shows portray people from Wisconsin with a Canadian accent. We don't speak like that we have an accent all our own.

I'm from New Zealand and I don't know that. It's understandable people mix up New Zealand and Australian accents they are really similar, apparently kiwis say 'thing' like 'thung' and 'fish' like 'fush' and 'pool' like 'pul' whereas aussies say 'feesh' and 'peewl'

I've never quite been able to work out how people get UK accents confused with Australian, or in this case New Zealand ones.
Anyway, I don't think not knowing the answer is unfair, given that she is not American, but the way in which she spends 5 minutes talking rubbish before the answer makes her look infinitly more stupid.

There isn't much a difference, but one difference is that Americans will say the word 'about' as it is normally pronounced where as Canadians will pronounce it "aboot". They also sound slightly Norwegian in my opinion. It kind of annoys me sometimes when TV shows portray people from Wisconsin with a Canadian accent. We don't speak like that we have an accent all our own.

I think is funny that people are saying she is not dumb for not getting this question because she is from New Zealand and she is not "expected" to know this. Where as if an American got a similar question wrong about a city in New Zealand they would be called ignorant. Sorry to get on my yank soap box, but that is how I feel. Americans should not be expected to know everything either.

An American not being able to locate a city in New Zealand is not at all ignorant, people can't be expected to know cities in every country. Ignorant would be an American getting New Zealand confused with Hawaii on a map

LOL...I will agree with that. I have actually have similar experiences. I live in the state of Wisconsin and I used to work at a call center where most of the people calling lived in California. More than you think we would get complaints about jobs be outsourced to Canada. We would have to explain to them that Wisconsin is part of the U.S., not Canada. XD

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT, shes not dumb for not knowing this answer, she has no reason to need to know it, shes from a country on the other side of the world, its not her fault she doesnt know, i didnt know either, doesnt make me stupid. shes not dumb, YOU must be dumb if you cant work out that this woman simply doesnt know the answer because she is not from america, so what are the chances of her being told? and she probably doesnt even care which state its in... think about it.

Why does everyone assume that this is from Britain? Listen to the accents... they're Australian. (I'm American and even I can identify this.) The presenter is Eddie McGuire. I suppose the question is the equivalent of asking an American which city is the largest city in Queensland or Victoria... although I would hope some would at least know.
